Your POV

Hello, my name is (Y/N) (L/N). And guess what? I am a loner. That's right, I don't have parents and friends. They're all dead to me as far as I am concern. I've been living outside on the streets and feeling depressed, getting ready to end it all without a care in the world.

As for what happened to my parents? They left for a business trip in another country, and never came back. I know they've always been busy people, but it almost feels like they have forgotten about me, and that was a few years ago. And as to why I don't have any friends, they didn't want to be associated with someone who didn't have any parents. Sound stupid? I know it does, but it is the truth.

Now everyday, I would sit on a bench at the park, wondering what I should do since my parents aren't here. As I was pondering about this, I heard some unfamiliar voices.

"So guys, are you ready to make people smile?" Someone asked.

I looked over to see five girls coming this way. One of them was a blond who had way too much energy.

"I am! But what should we do to make them smile?" The girl with short orange hair asked.

"That's a good question." The blond replied.

"Of course you wouldn't know what to do..." The black-haired girl sighed in disappointment.

The girl with the blue hair chuckled at that one's response. Actually, she is kind of cute. I wonder who she is.

"Fear not, my little kittens. I'll be sure to figure something out." The purple-haired girl said.

I kept staring at them for a while, but as I looked away from them, they came over to me in total silence. That caught me a bit off guard.

"Hey, what are you doing over here by yourself?" The blond asked.

"Huh? Do you mean me?" I asked.

"Of course!" She replied.

"After all, there is no one else here." The black-haired girl chimed in.

"I guess that's true."

"Back to my question, what are you doing here by yourself?" She asked again.

"No reason... I just wanted to be alone." I replied as I looked down at the ground.

"Alone?! Why would you want that?!" The blue-haired girl asked. I probably shouldn't give away too much about my life since I don't know these girls.

"Well, let's just say... things haven't been exactly going my way." I told them.

"I know! How about you come hang out with us?" She suggested. Me hang out with them?!

"Ah, an excellent idea, Kokoro. It'll be fleeting if we got to know our new friend better." The purple-haired girl agreed. I don't know how to feel about that.

"Are you sure that's a good idea? I don't even know who you are." I said.

"Then we'll introduce ourselves: I'm Tsurumaki Kokoro."

"I am the fleeting prince known as Seta Kaoru."

"Hiya! I am Kitazawa Hagumi! Nice to meet ya!"

"Fuee... m-my name is Matsubara Kanon. Umm... nice to meet you."

"I guess that leaves me, Okusawa Misaki. Nice to meet you."

"And together, the five of us are Hello, Happy World!, the band with an ambition to make the whole world smile!" Kokoro declared.

"Happy!"

"Lucky!"

"Smile!"

"Yay!"

What an... unusual group of people. Out of all of them, though, I would say that Kanon and Misaki are the normal ones, and the rest of them have too much energy to spare.

"And what about you? What's your name?" Kokoro asked.

"My name? It's (Y/N) (L/N)." I said shyly.

"(Y/N)-kun, huh? That's a nice name." Kanon said as she smiled at me.

"Really? You think so?" I asked.

"Yeah, of course." Kanon smiled. Well, that made my day.

"What do you say, (Y/N)? Do you want to join us?" Kokoro asked one last time.

She really was determined to have me join them on whatever they were doing. But if it means I get to be near Kanon, I don't see why not.

"Alright, you win. I'll hang out with y'all."

"Yay!" Kokoro and Hagumi said in unison. Hopefully all of this will be worth it if it means I get to be closer to Kanon.

Evening...

Location - Matsubara Residence, Kanon's Room

Kanon's POV

After the fun exciting day I had with my friends, I came home, took a bath and changed into my pajamas. As I got into my room, something was occupying my mind. It was that (Y/N) person we met today. He was nice and sweet and all that, but something about him was bugging me.

It looked like he got something important on his mind. I wanted to ask him what was wrong, but I feel like he won't open up to me because I don't know him so well. What is wrong with me? Why am I so worried about him? As I was thinking about this, my phone buzzed. It was a text message from Misaki.

Misaki's text: Hey, today was crazy, wasn't it?

Kanon's text: I guess so. But then again, we should've expected something like this from Kokoro-chan.

Misaki's text: That is true...

Kanon's text: Since we're talking about today here, do you think I can ask you something?

Misaki's text: Oh, sure. What's up?

Kanon's text: How do you feel about (Y/N)-kun?

Misaki's text: Him? Well, he's alright. I mean, he did do a good job trying to keep Kokoro and the others grounded.

Misaki's text: Why'd you ask?

Kanon's text: Well, I am a bit worried about him. It looked like he wasn't showing us his true smile.

Misaki's text: His true smile? What do you mean?

Kanon's text: I don't know, but I am going to figure it out, no matter how many times it takes.

Misaki's text: Whatever you say. If you need any help, let me know.

Kanon's text: I promise I will.

A few days later...

Location - Riverside

Your POV

Another day of having no one to go to... I looked up at the sky and sighed a bit. I guess the only upside to having a life like this, is that I no longer have to attend school, but it is boring.

"(Y/N)-kun? Is that you?"

I looked to see where the voice is coming from. To my surprise, it was Kanon who called out to me. She didn't look happy to see me, though. In fact, she was surprised to see me hanging around here.

"Oh, Kanon. It's you." I said.

Kanon made her way towards me.

"What are you doing hanging around here?" She asked.

"Oh, umm... no reason." I said before looking away.

Kanon sat down beside me.

"Umm... shouldn't you... be at home?" She asked.

"What home? There is no home for me to go to." I sighed.

I probably should've kept that to myself. Kanon looked curious.

"You don't have a home? Is there a reason for that?"

"I mean, there is, but I don't know how to feel about sharing it..."

That's when Kanon placed her hand on top of mine, and gave me a smile. Seeing her smile like that gave me a warm feeling inside.

"Take all the time you need." She said to me. "I won't go anywhere until you feel better."

Since Kanon is willing to listen, I guess I can tell her. And so, I slowly began to tell Kanon everything that has been going on in life. Everything from me not having parents, to not having a home, to not having friends. After I told her my story, Kanon gave me a sad expression.

"I'm so sorry, (Y/N)-kun. I had no idea you were going through all of that." She said.

"No need to feel sorry for me... Somethings were just meant to happen, you know?" I replied while staring at her.

"But... you shouldn't have to go through all of that."

Then Kanon looked like she had an idea.

"I know! How about we go to a cafe together?" She offered.

"A cafe? Together? You mean like a date?" I asked. 

"I mean... if it's okay with you." Kanon replied as her face went red. 

"Well, I don't mind if I go to the cafe with you." I smiled.

Kanon smiled back as we stood up and headed over to the cafe. Since there are plenty of cafes in this town, I don't know which one we're going to, but I am sure I am going to have a lot of fun.

Several weeks later...

These last few weeks have been unbelievable, and... I have everyone in Hello, Happy World! to thank for it, but there is one person I am thankful for the most: Kanon. Everyday she would come see me at my local spot, and would chat with me on everything that she did, whether it was at school, or an event with Kokoro and the others.

I don't know what it is, but there is something about Kanon that I really like. She is sweet, kind, caring and I find it adorable whenever she goes "fuee". I can't help but think that maybe I have feelings for her, and god is telling me that I should be with her.

I decided that I am going to do just that the next time I see her. And that time came sooner than later...

"Hey, (Y/N)-kun, hope I didn't make you wait for too long." Kanon said as she came over to me.

"It's okay. I'm just happy that you made it." I replied and hugged her.

She hugged me back.

"So, umm... you said you wanted to talk to me about something?" She asked.

"Yeah, it's important." I said as I sat down.

Kanon sat down beside me and looked confused. I took a deep breath and began my confession.

"Listen, Kanon, for the last few weeks, I discovered something I didn't expect: love. It turns out, I have feelings for you, and it would make me happy if you let me be your boyfriend." I said.

Kanon smiled and gave me a kiss on the cheek.

"Yes, (Y/N)-kun. I love you too, and I would love to be your girlfriend." She said and placed her head on my shoulder.
