Coffee Shop

Quirkless AU

Katsuki breathed in the morning air, closing the driver's door. He in the middle of a small, nearly parking lot. The breeze that gently hit his face was surprisingly gentle and calm. The warmth of the sun was refreshing, perfect for an early start to the day. Katsuki left the side of his car, walking toward the Northway Coffee Shop entrance. He opened the door, entering the cafe, the thumping of his own heart against his chest was the only thing he could hear. The smell of coffee and cinnamon filled his nose as he stepped inside, a sense of warmth and belonging washing over him. He loved this place. Especially at eight o'clock in the morning. The exact time Katsuki always arrived at this coffee shop.

Why? Oh, no reason.

The blonde looked around the partially empty cafe, his eyes trailing down the tables. Only about three of them had people sitting in them. When he didn't spot a particular face he walked to the counter, facing a redhead barista that gave him a cheeky grin.

"Good morning, Bakugou. Nice to see you at this time as always, the usual I assume?" Kirishima asked, already placing the order in the cash register before he even answered.

"Yeah," Katsuki muttered, glancing at the door when he heard the sharp chime of a bell, indicating someone else entered the coffee shop. He looked away when he realized it was only a random women. Kirishima chuckled, catching Katsuki's attention. Eijiro was obviously laughing at him.

"What?" Katsuki snapped.

"Nothing. Just that maybe you should try getting his number instead of always coincidentally running into him here." Eijiro pointed out. Bakugou scoffed.

"I don't know what you're talking about, shithead." Katsuki huffed, taking out his wallet from his pocket as Kirishima handed him his coffee—which he prepared beforehand because he knew Katsuki would be there as always.

"We both know why you come here every morning at this time, dude. It's getting weird at this point." Kirishima said, taking the twenty bucks from the blonde.

"Fuck you and keep the change." Katsuki growled, flipping him off before taking his blueberry muffin along with his coffee. Kirishima laughed lightheartedly before thanking him.

He walked away and sat at the table next to the window, placing his coffee and muffin down before grabbing his phone. Work was already demanding for his location. He rolled his eyes, texting his boss that he'd be there in thirty minutes before carelessly tucking his phone back into his pocket. Katsuki sighed, taking a sip of his coffee with his eyes staring out the window. He tried his best to keep himself from looking at the front door every time it opened but he couldn't help himself. Eventually, when it turned eight thirty, he didn't bother to look anymore. Instead, he quietly ate his muffin, drinking his coffee, enjoying the view the window gave of the forest nearby.

Katsuki slowly drifted into a daydream; a life where he wasn't over-stressed by work. A day at the beach with his dog. Even a day with friends. He was deep into his own mind that he didn't realize someone had approached him. It wasn't until a familiarly sweet voice did he escape his headspace.

"Bakugou, it's nice to see you again!"

Katsuki looked up to see Izuku walked over with his own coffee in his hands. The blonde immediately straightened up, wearing a small grin.

"Morning, dork. Woke up late or something?" Katsuki asked, watching Izuku take the seat in front of him, the freckled man smiling brightly at Katsuki. Bakugou's heart skipped a beat at the sight of his smile, joy and anxiety taking over his mind. Taking over his heart.

"Yeah, I guess I forgot to put my alarm on." Izuku lightly laughed. Bakugou's smile widened a bit at the only sound he wanted to hear all morning.

"At least your boss can't give you any crap about waking up late." Katsuki said, recalling Izuku telling him that his boss always woke up and showed up to work late.

"That's true, I'm glad I won't be the only one coming in late today. Besides, I'm a good employee." Izuku smiled, taking a sip of his coffee.

Katsuki took a long sip of his own coffee, glancing at Kirishima behind the cash register when movement in his peripheral vision caught his attention. The redhead was gesturing to Izuku before putting his hand to his ear like a phone. Katsuki rolled his eyes in attempt to hide his bouncing nerves. He exhaled a shaky breath, slowly putting his coffee cup down.

"Hey, Midoriya..." Bakugou murmured, averting his eyes to the table, his heart pounding so fast and loud against his chest that he was sure that Izuku could hear it too.

"Mhm?"

"I want your number." Katsuki stated, confidently staring at Izuku in the eye, a smile on his lips. Izuku was caught off guard, his smiling widening.

"Okay. But I want to make a deal first." Izuku offered. Katsuki tilted his head with confusion, his eyebrow raising to show his interest.

"What sort of deal?"

"I'll give you my number if you promise to take me out on a date on Saturday." Izuku said. Katsuki's heart wasn't the only one beating at fifty miles per hour anymore.

"Deal." Katsuki smirked.

"Coffee at eight on Saturday?" The blonde suggested.

"It's a date." Izuku purred.

Katsuki had been arriving to the coffee shop at exactly eight ever since he met Izuku a month and a half ago. Six weeks of admiring the greenette. Six weeks of greeting him. Six weeks of casual conversation that would only last thirty minutes since the day ahead called for them. But out of all those days within those six weeks, today was by far the best.

A morning he would never forget.
