I DON'T THINK I had ever seen Levi more peaceful than when he was eating pancakes. Blueberry and banana pancakes to be exact. I was honestly in a trance watching him as I sat opposite him at our table in the dining hall.

Levi glances up at me with full cheeks like an adorable chipmunk, "What?"

"Are you even human?" I question, pulling my cream cheese bagel from my mouth. It was only Levi and I enjoying a nice breakfast together this morning, with everyone else ditching us to finish some Economics assignment that was due.

He shrugs, "I like to think so."

That was not the answer I was expecting. From anyone else it would've been a funny joke, but coming from Levi, it was terrifying. I remain quiet as I turn back to finishing my eggs when a shadow spreads over the table. I glance up, seeing Lea leaning both palms at the edge of the sleek wooden surface.

"So, how was your date on Saturday, Hayden?" She questions smiling and doesn't even give me a chance to answer, "My date with Chase was amazing, thanks for asking. He's honestly so sweet and goddamn those fingers are like the fingers of a god."

Was she going to have an orgasm here? Right now? Because it sure looked like it.

I swirl my fork around as I hold it in my fingers and narrow my eyes on her, "You cannot imagine the immensity of the fuck I do not give."

"Naw, it's cute when you're jealous, Hay." Lea smirks before spinning on her damn black boot heels and struts away, her long brown ponytail swaying behind her. I scoff, disgusted at the back of my throat and drop my fork. Now my appetite was lost. Where rarely fucking happens.

"I can set her room on fire if you want." Levi mutters through the tense silence, "And I wouldn't even feel guilty."

"Yeah, but I'd have more fun." I reply, folding my arms as Levi chuckles at me.

I glance around the dining hall, noticing my roommate making is way towards us.

"Did you get my note?" I questions as he drops his black backpack to the ground and sits down next to Levi.

"Well, good morning to you too Jones." Chase remarks sarcastically while I continue to stare at him with a blank face, "And yes, I got your fucking note because you taped it to my forehead while I was sleeping. "

Levi was glancing back and forth like he was watching the world's weirdest tennis match, "What was the note about?"

"You know how some fucktards broke the dryer?" I question as Levi nods, "Well, now I have to air dry my clothes and I need the windows open. This idiot always closes them."

"Well excuse me for not wanting fucking bugs in our dorm room." Chase scoffs as he folds his arms. I chuckle at him softly as I roll my eyes.

"You guys argue like an old married couple." Levi laughs as he continues filling his face with pancakes. I give Levi a dead and very unamused look as he shrugs adorably.

A flash of red enters my vision as Penn rushes to the table, her arms full of folders and papers. We all glance up at her weirdly.

"Miss Rowan is waiting for us, Hay. Remember we were going to meet with her like twenty minutes ago?" Penn asked, slightly panting from running all the way here from the library.

"Oh shit. I forgot." I mumble as I stand quickly grabbing my bag from the ground. I push the small bottle of orange juice to Chase as well as the rest of my bagel, "Here."

"Thanks." Chase says as he takes the bagel and starts eating it. I run around the table as Pen and I quickly escape from the dining hall. There were barely any students in the art wing of Calgary, allowing Penn and I to ran as wildly and deranged as we were.

We burst through the art room doors, noticing Miss Rowan leaning back on her desk sipping what it probably her fifth cup of coffee this morning.

She moves her floral kimono back from her wrist and glances at her watch, "Huh, what time do you call this, ladies?"

I glance at the antique clock above the whiteboard and grin sheepishly, "Eight twenty-six?"

"Very funny Hayden." Miss Rowan laughs sarcastically as she pushes off her desk and places her cup of coffee down, "What I wanted to talk to you girls about was the charity gala that's being held next Monday."

"Charity gala? What gala?" I question as I glance between Miss Rowan and Penn.

"It's this event that the council of Madison hold here ever year. All the rich people from the area to come here and buy things to make themselves feel better." Penn explains shamelessly as I chuckle lightly, "It's a great time."

I smirk at her, "I bet."

"Part of the gala is the silent auction and I was wondering if you girls were interested in selling any of your pieces?" She questions with a small, excited smile, "I was thinking your Sunflower field, Penn and the girl with paint over her eyes that you painted Hayden."

"As great as that sounds I doubt anyone would buy my paintings." i laugh, scratching the back of my neck awkwardly, "Who would want to have a child's drawing on their wall, right?"

"You're insanely talented, Hay. You should do it." Penn encourages as she nudges my shoulder, "You'll get money for it."

I turn around to face Miss Rowan instantly, "I'll do it."

"Of course." Miss Rowan giggles at me, "Also, would you girls like to help waitressing on the night?"

I glance at Penn who nods, "Sure."

My English teacher, Mr Lancaster, was a great teacher but a forgetful one. He always seems to leave photocopies of our work at the front office meaning he's always leaving class. He likes to believe that we do our work while he's gone but we all know that's no fucking true at all.

"Hey, are you going to help with the waitress?" I question as I glance at Vera who was touching up her pale pink lipstick in the reflection of her phone.

She wipes the corners of her lips and turns to me, groaning, "No. My fucking  parents are coming and I have to go with them."

"Such a hard life you live, having rich parents and having to go to galas and all that dumb shit." I sarcastically snort at her with a cocky smirk. She sighs dramatically.

"It's dreadful." She relaxes back into her chair, "The students her cater on the night always have so much fun. The school has alcohol brought in for the night and the students always manage to steal some."

I hear some giggles coming from behind, "Better not let your red headed friend near them, right Hay?"

Both Vera and I slowly turn in our seats, glaring at Lea who was biting the end of her pencil while leaning forward on her desk. She was grinning at us confidently.

"Do you ever shut the fuck up?" Vera questions, her motherly protectiveness coming through, "Jesus Christ, Lea. It's not that hard."

Lea snorts, slightly embarrassed as she returns to her work. Vera grins triumphantly as she turns back to me. I was stunned and so proud at the same time.

"I need to go pee before he gets back." I mumble quickly as I stand up. I place a hand on Vera's shoulder as i maneuver myself out of the row. She places her own hand over mine like she was saying a sorrowful goodbye.

"Don't take too long, darling. I might murder someone." She grins and I knew who she was exactly talking about.

"Just don't get any blood on your white shirt, my love." I grin at her before turning around and leaving the classroom.

The halls were quiet which I was super thankful for. I didn't really need to pee. I only left because one; I was literally going to strangle Lea, and two; I was hungry. But to be honest, when am I ever not hungry?

I find the nearest vending machine and it's like the gods were smiling down on me today because amongst the gluten free and protein shit was a bag of M&M's. I quickly pull the few loose coins from my pocket and happily enter them into the machine.

Now, with the M&M's in hand, I turn and take my sweet time walking back to the classroom. As I turn the corner, I notice a familiar body walking towards me.

"Ditching class? How very bad boy of you, Everett." I smirk as I walk closer to him. He chuckles and runs his hand through his hair.

"I'm not ditching class, Sully wants to see me for fuck knows what." Chase shrugs, holding onto the one strap of his bag slung over his broad shoulder, "But more importantly, why are you out of class Jones?"

I lift the packet of M&M's to his face and he nods, "I was hungry."

"You're always hungry." He scoffs as I grab his hand and open his palm. He watches me with a confused stare as I pick the blue M&M's from the packet and place them in his palms, "Just the blue one's?"

I shrug, "I don't like the taste of them."

"Jones, they all taste the same." Chase chuckles at me and I glance up from his palm, noticing how close our faces were. I narrow my eyes on him.

"That's what everyone says but I can taste the difference." I explain like it was some conspircacy theory which I wholeheartedly believe it is. After emptying all the blue M&M's into his palm I continue to eat the rest, "I also left because I was two seconds way from slamming your girlfriend's head into the desk."

"She's not my girlfriend." Chase states, in a kinda serious tone and magically knowing who I was exactly talking about.

"You two seemed pretty chummy on Saturday." I remark as I stare into the packet to avoid making eye contact.

"So did you and that fuckwit." Chase scoffs, almost sounding jealous, and a slow smirk crosses my lips.

"Well, I gotta get back to learning, Everett." I change the subject as I walk around him, "The world's not going to conquer itself."

"You're so fucking weird, Jones." Chase laughs at me, staring at me over his shoulder as I walk backwards, shoving m&m's into my mouth.

I extend my arm out as I point at him, "And you're stuck with me for the rest of the year."

He laughs as I spin on my heels and head back to the English class, deeply wondering if I could make it through the class without decapitating Lea or myself.
