THE COLD AIR hits my life a fucking train as I push through the glass double doors and out into the courtyard. The sun was long gone by now and the only way I was seeing right now was all thanks to the dim light from the antique streets lamps. 

I stuff my hands into my black coat which was layered over a navy hoodie, which was layered over a sweater, which was layered over two-tshirts. The only thing that wasn't layered was my sweatpants and now I was highly regretting it. 

I had stayed back after training had finished earlier this evening, making up for the previous trainings I had missed. But it's not like it was my fault. It was Chase's fault for being so damn sexy and keeping me in his bed. I actually couldn't believe I was missing trainings to stay with Chase when before I would use it as an excuse to just to fucking avoid the asshole. 

But he's my asshole now. And a very adorable one at that. 

"Hayden." 

I jump in fright and shout loudly, "Fucking cheeseballs!" 

My hood was over my head so I whip around crazily like the blow up men at car dealerships before seeing luke emerge from the darkness. He didn't wait another forty five minutes....did he? 

"Oh shit, sorry I didn't mean to scare you." Luke laughs, his breath coming out heavily and mixing with the cold air. He fixes the sports bag on his shoulders and I slowly became envious of his gloves. "Besides training, we haven't been able to talk, have we?" 

"Nope." I say before I can stop myself and I hope as fuck he didn't here the bitterness. Before the situation turns tense I continue with a forced smile, "I've just been super busy....y'know with my art and school work." 

"It's okay,  I totally understand." Luke grins as he gestures for us to start walking. I fall into step behind him and gulp heavily. 

It felt weird, knowing what I know, and seeing how Luke was right now. It was like a completely different person. My eyes dart around frantically realising it was pitch black and there was no one else outside. Great. 

"So...." Luke trails off as I jump slightly startled at the sound of his voice, "I heard your mother got married over Christmas break." 

Heard? Or asked creepy ass questions by your creepy ass self. 

"Uh...yeah. She did. Great wedding." I reply simply, trying to not overthink to much. Which is impossible because my brain never seems to shut off. It just goes all day and all night replaying old memories like the time in fourth grade when a boy pulled down my pants while I was swinging on the monkey bars. Good times. 

"And, uh, Chase went?" Luke asks—well, I assumed it was a question. 

I nod, "Yup." 

"Did anything happen?" Luke questions and I frown as I glance up at him. 

"No." I shake my head and laugh as if it were the most absurd thing in the fucking universe, "Of course not. Me and Chase? Are you fucking kidding me? I don't—We—Huh—Why—Why would you think that?

"Well, I've been texting you and you haven't been replying. Plus I don't see you that often at school anymore." Luke shrugs and I stare at him blankly. Well, maybe there's a reason for that. And maybe that reason is because you're a massive fucking creep. "I was just...wondering. 

"Well wonder no more, Wonder boy. Chase and I will never be...that." I screw my nose up disgust. Wow, I am a fucking great actress. Hollywood watch out. "But that's not to say I'm a single pringle and ready to mingle. I just like being friends, you know that right?" 

"Yeah, yeah, of course." Luke chuckles softly as he shakes his head and looks down at the ground. I sigh quietly and my shoulders relax as I see Elwood hall come into sight. Almost home.

We walk in quiet for the rest of the way, thankfully. And only when we're in the courtyard outside does Luke stop and I stumble to a halt. I raise a confused eyebrow at him as I turn to face him. 

He shrugs and glances up from his shoes at me,  "I just thought...all the dates and things." 

"Well, you asked me and I didn't want to be a cold hearted bitch. But it's not like I didn't enjoy it, because I did. I just think I'm not what you're looking for Luke." I explain to him and offer him a small, soft smile, "I do like you Luke but as friends." 

"Wow, did I really just get friend zoned by the hottest girl in school?" Luke chuckles to himself as I laugh along and roll my eyes 

"Hey, I'm no where near the hottest girl in school but I'll take it as a compliment." I tease cheekily as he laughs, "And there's other girls in Caldwell, you know one's that are only a little bat-shit crazy. I know—" 

My ringtone shrills out into the otherwise quiet courtyard and interrupts me. I pull the device out of my pocket and glance at the caller ID. Of course. 

"Just give me a second." I hold up a finger to Luke before answering the call and pressing it to my ear, "Howdy?" 

"Are you having fun down there, Jones?" Chase questions sharply through the phone and I glance around confused, before my gaze rises to the third floor of Elwood hall to see Chase sticking his head out of the window. Luke follows my gaze and we both stand still staring up at him. 

"You fucking idiot! You're letting all the cold air get in." I hiss into the phone as I glare at him, realising we were going to have a round 2 of trying to get a family of wasps out of dorm. It took the two of us fifteen minutes to get them out, we ran like damn headless chickens around our dorm, cursing like there was no tomorrow,  throwing random objects across the room. 

"Well, come up here and close them." He challenges, holding my glare with his from his height. After a few moments of silence, he speaks again, "I don't like you being with him, Jones." 

Well it's not like I was having the fucking greatest time either. 

"I'll be up soon." I tell him before ending the call. I slip the device back into my pocket and turn my gaze to Luke, "It's getting kinda cold, we should go inside." 

He follows me and we ride the elevator in silence up to the third floor. I was reaching for the door handle when Luke stops me again. Seriously? 

"You know my offer still stands; if you wanna come down to my dorm." Luke gestures his thumb in the direction of his room, "If Everett gets too much for you." 

I smile at him, "Thanks, I'll—" 

The door swings open and an arm wraps around my shoulders, yanking me inside. I stumble over my own feet as the door is slammed shut behind me and I'm pulled into Chase's chest. I glance up, noticing how close our faces were to each other and I drop my sports bag to the ground.. I crack a cheeky grin. 

"Well hello to you too, Everett." 

"Stop being cute, Jones." Everett grumbles and I notice his angered expression. I wrap my arms around his neck and arch my back into him. "I told you to stay away from him." 

"Well, it's not like I can ignore him." I inform him as I watch Everett's cold exterior start to melt away. I love the affect I have on him, it's like a damn superpower. 

"Yes you can. It's easy." He grunts, frustrated as I grin and give him a quick peck on his lips. 

"Are you jealous, Everett?" I question cheekily as he tries to avoid my gaze. He turns his face away and I take advantage of it by placing a few kisses along his jaw line, "I like this side of you." 

"Baby, I've been jealous since he walked you to the fucking dorm room." Chase smirks as he moves a strand of wet hair behind my ear. I grin up at him before pressing my lips to his. His mouth moves against mine, his tongue slipping past my lips and touching mine. He helps me out of my coat and we let it drop to the floor as he guides me over to his bed and slowly lowers me on to the mattress. 

What a fucking excellent way to end the night.

i know it's been two weeks since i've updated but there's a good reason.

i have sprained the wrist of my dominant hand and have broken two toes after a very exciting night out. and by exciting i mean running into the door of my boyfriend's bedroom shit-face drunk and pushing it off it's hinges. 

love that for me. 

so i've been healing from that as well as a really bad concussion so sorry for the long wait but here is another chapter!
