act one — the third baby
(💍🕯🏹☁️)

feeling the hospital bed tissue move and make a noise everytime that she moved and got comfortable, thea couldn't help but grow annoyed at the constant noise of the tissue even when she was sat still. "oh my god, will this paper stop making noises." she groaned, throwing her back against the head of the bed.

"wont be long now, t, and then we'll be out." lando placed his cold hand on top of hers, as if trying to distract her from the noises that annoyed her.

"i just want to get this done, i don't like this room." she said to him, her voice quiet. "are you scared?" thea asked him seriously, her eyes scanning the ceiling of the room she had been in many times before, not wanting to look at her fiancé otherwise she'd end up crying.

"scared in what way?" lando pulled his chair closer to the bed, now rubbing his thumb along the side of her hand as he knew that it always calmed her down when she needed physical reassurance.

"scared about this baby, i mean. what if i miscarry again? what if they don't grow properly and suffer? what if i do something that will harm our baby?" thea went through the what if questions that were currently stuck in her mind, her thinking that the miscarriage was completely her fault but it wasn't; she had no reason to feel that she was at blame and lando didn't want her to ever feel like it was.

"thea, what happened to our baby was not your fault, not one bit of it. many women go through the horrible thing of having a miscarriage and it is never their fault, it makes those women become so much stronger and you are one of those women, my love." he comforted her, thea's eyes clouding over with tears as she turned her head slightly to look at him. "you never fail to amaze me and i'll always be your biggest supporter, thea greene."

"you're making me cry, lando. i did my makeup today aswell." thea let out a small laugh because if she didn't laugh then she'd end up crying, using her spare hand to wipe away the fallen tears. "i just want everything to be okay and for there to be no problems because i don't know what i'd do if there was."

"and its okay to be worried, my love, i am too but we need to think positively. if we let our minds get the better of us then we will never get anywhere in life, we just need to remember that." his kind warms creating a sense of warmth in her heart as she thought to herself about how lucky she was to have him.

"i'm so lucky to have you, lando, and so is louis and i couldn't have asked for anybody better than you." thea murmured but she was still loud enough for him to hear her fully, this comment making him smile at her lovingly; his face saying everything without anything be said in return.

"good morning, my lovelies, how are you both doing?" dr alice parker greeted her favourite patients with a heartwarming smile when she came into the room, pulling her gloves down her hand whilst doing so.

"morning alice, we're doing well. how're you?" thea spoke back kindly, pulling her loose t-shirt above her belly that was growing their baby in. the trio had formed a close bond from all of the times they had been together, either for amazing reasons or for the not so good times. alice parker supported the nearly twenty-four year olds throughout their pregnancy's and miscarriage journey and gave them support and advice when she thought they needed it most.

"i'm doing really well, thanks for asking, honey." she appreciated the kind souls that were thea and lando and loved how they were so loving and polite to anybody and everybody. "so a little birdy told me that the two of you were getting married."

after watching both of their faces grow a beaming smile, alice got her answer but what clarified it was what thea did next. holding her left hand up so that her stunning engagement ring was on show, alice was stunned. "oh my goodness, that ring is absolutely gorgeous. hats off to you, lando."

"don't give me all the credit." lando chuckled, feeling thea's hand in his and resting it on the bed. "cassidy helped me mostly, i had no clue on what type to buy."

"you did an amazing job, babe." thea reassured him, squeezing his hand lightly three times as it was their way of saying 'i love you' when they didn't want to or couldn't say it in words.

"he's a gooden, isn't he?" alice whispered to thea so that lando couldn't hear, even though he had just gotten his phone out of his pocket to see who was phoning him at half past ten in the morning; thea nodding along in agreement with her but getting interrupted by lando's voice.

"it's zak, i won't be long." lando clarified to his fiancé and the doctor that cared for them both whenever she saw them, watching as they both nodded.

"now that it's just us two, how are you honestly feeling. you know that i don't judge and i want to help you both throughout it all."

"when we first found out that we lost her, we didn't talk for a good couple of weeks. we didn't even sleep in the same bed or anything, and i just felt so lonely even though our family and friends were coming over nearly every day to help with louis and things around the house." thea's eyes wandered to the ceiling of the hospital room, shaking her head slightly as she admitted her feelings. "it was the worst time of my life and i thought that i was going to lose him aswell."

"does lando know how you feel about it all?" alice asked softly, not wanting to cause any upsetting emotions that would trigger the blonde woman.

"he has an idea because i've told him very briefly when we were arguing once but we've never actually sat together and had a proper conversation about it."

"my advice to you would be to have a sit down with him on your own in a place where you're both comfortable and talk about your feelings because if you let it keep building up, the harder it will be to talk about."

"yeah, it's something that i've wanted to do for a while but i've put it off every time i tried to do it." the young mother told her doctor and somebody she classed as a friend the truth, hearing alice reply back with a sympathetic sigh.

"just remember that you're both in love with each other and only want the best for the other." alice told thea, adjusting her glasses so that they sat more comfortably on her nose. "now how is your little rainbow baby doing?"

"i've felt good and i think so has the baby, so that's a good sign. i'm at the stage where i'm constantly worrying about the baby because i'm four months and i don't want history to repeat itself." thea spoke with some confidence as she knew that if she didn't, then she would probably end up crying.

"sorry about that, it was just zak on about when i can go do some simulator stuff." lando came back into the room, stuffing his phone in his back pocket before sitting back on his chair. "i didn't miss anything, did i?"

"you're just on time, honey. we are just getting started." dr parker reassured him, the warm smile still on her face as she put her gloves on and pulled the machine closer to her. "as you know, thea, this might be cold."

"shove it on there, i'm used to it by now." thea giggled, alice chuckling as she spread the cold gel across thea's stomach with the tool.

"okay my lovelies, there's your little rainbow baby." alice told them after a few seconds of finding the perfect angle of their baby.

"oh my, i will never get used to see that." thea gushed, raising her hand over her mouth in awe. "there's our baby, lan."

this was one of the few times that thea had ever seen lando speechless so it must've meant a lot to him, causing thea to interlock their fingers together. "as you're four months, thea, and due to your gorgeous baby's positioning, we could find out the gender today. would you two want to know?"

looking at each other with a smile on their faces, they had talked about this previously and decided that when they could know the gender, they would give it to somebody else and have a gender reveal. "could we have it in an envelope, please. we're going to give it to one of our friends so that they can plan a reveal."

"of course i can do that, there's some tissues to clean yourself up." alice giddily said, handing thea a box of tissues before she made her way over to the door. "i'll be right back."

"what do you think, my love? another boy or another girl?" lando asked his fiancé, feeling over the moon at the fact they would find out their baby's gender soon. this hospital being a positive contrast to the last time they were in the exact room.

"as long as our baby is healthy, i have no preference." she said, yet not fully telling the truth. of course she longed for her children to be happy and healthy but she was desperate to have her daughter, so she could only hope for a girl.

"here we are, my loves. your baby's gender." alice parker came back into the room, holding the envelope in her hand.

"thank you for everything, alice. we appreciate you so much, it's unreal." thea thanked her friendly doctor, placing her handbag over her shoulder once she had sorted her clothes out.

"don't be silly, i'm just doing my job."

"you doing your job has helped me with so much, alice." by this point, the couple knew they had to go and pick up their son from cassidy as she was going out that afternoon with tommy. "well, we best get going but we'll see you soon."

"see you soon, you two." alice waved to lando after he replied back to her sentence, walking out before thea. "thea, remember what i said. talk to him."
