act one — the third baby
(💍🕯🏹☁️)

"i still can't believe that i'm pregnant, i don't think it's sunk in yet." thea smiled excitedly, swinging her white dior bag in one hand as the other was intertwined with lando's.

"it only feels like yesterday that we brought louis home from the hospital, doesn't it?" lando thought back to the day when his son was born, remembering how the day went by so quickly but everything about it was perfect. despite the fact that he was at silverstone waiting for qualifying when he got the call that thea had gone into labour, it couldn't have gone any better. "that was probably the best day of my life."

"you and me both, bub. there's just something so special about meeting your first baby for the first time."

"it's so weird because i remember every single bit of it all." disconnecting their hands, lando put his arm around theas shoulder and she put hers around his waist.

"i'm glad one of us does because i was so exhausted, i barely knew where i was or what i was doing." thea confessed to him, them both chuckling.

"do you want me to tell you about some of it because you're such a terrible person and forgot your own sons birth?" lando said sarcastically, earning a light slap to the stomach before laughing.

"you're such a dickhead, now i know where louis gets it from when he's in a mood." thea told him playfully, knowing full well that louis had adapted her temper and attitude. "go on then."

"i'll start with what i walked into when i got up the hospital, okay?"

"thea? where are you?" lando quietly called out when he entered the room, praying that he had came into the correct room and wasn't disturbing random people.

"in here, bub." he heard her voice reply, him following it to the bathroom. he wasn't sure what he was expecting to see when he opened the door, but it definitely wasn't what it was.

"why are you curling your hair when you're about to give birth?" lando and thea's laugh could probably be heard from the hospital corridor, the formula one driver getting his phone out to film thea to send to the mixed family group chat.

"because i'm about to meet my son and i have to look good, babe." she said as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.

"i've not done anything about how i look though, love." lando told her, thea looking him up and down through the mirror and scrunching her nose.

"i can tell, lan. first impressions count."

"and then a couple of hours after i arrived, you was about seven centimetres dilated by now, and all you did was cry. you'd cry about absolutely anything and it got to the point where me and alice were getting a bit worried about you."

"lando." thea cried out from the hospital bed, lando looking up from his phone to his girlfriend.

"yes my love?" he spoke softly, after alice had warned him about how women in labour can get agitated quite easily so it was best if he did what she wanted when she wanted.

"i want ice." her already light blue eyes began to go more blue because of the tears that were streaming down her face. just as she had said this, louis thought it would be a great time to give her a very painful contraction. "louis, let me have one minute without you hurting me."

"i promise he won't be hurting you for much longer, bub." lando tried to comfort the blonde, only earning a glare in return.

"much longer? lando, i've been dealing with this for nearly six hours. i want to go home, i want to eat, i want to sleep and i just want to hold my baby. might i just add, i'm doing this with no pain relief so i'm expecting one hell of a push present." thea had finished her rant, the tears still pouring but she had placed her arm over her eyes and one hand on her bump.

"what's a push present?" he whispered to alice parker, thea's doctor, as he backed away from the side of thea's bed.

"it's a present that the partner gives to the mum for giving birth." alice told him with a warm smile on her face, wanting to laugh at the look on his face from being told off by the pregnant woman. "it doesn't have to be anything big, just something to show your love and support."

"oh god, how do i not remember that?" the young mum placed a hand over her mouth in shock, laughing slightly at what she had been told. "what else happened?"

"thea, it was like your emotions changed every five seconds. i was just sat with you like an idiot because i didn't know what you was going to be like next."

"alright, thea, are you ready to push?" alice set herself up at the bottom of the bed, ready to help deliver the baby.

"not yet, i'm not even mentally prepared. one born every minute has scarred me for life, alice." thea let out a small breath as she shook her head, earning a chuckle off the doctor and lando.

"i thought i told you not to watch that, everybody's labours are different." alice looked up at her, thea looking at alice with a smile.

"i know but - ow." the blonde began talking before getting interrupted by the most painful contraction she had yet, feeling the urge to push. "looks like i'm ready to push, alice."

"that's perfect, my lovely. i just need you to push as hard as you can for ten seconds then we'll take a quick breather."

"you think i can hold my breath for ten seconds?" she said before starting her first set of pushes, lando holding her hand for her to grip but not realising that it hurt would so much.

"thea, babe, that hurts." lando tried to open his hand to stretch it but it only ended with it being squeezed even more.

"you're the reason why we're in this situation so don't be complaining now and i'm never having sec with you ever again." thea warned him, lando instantly shutting up making alice want to laugh but she knew that she had to keep her professionalism, however that didn't stop her from letting out a small chuckle.

"bit harsh, thea." alice smirked, indicating for thea to push again.

"i promise this is the last time you'll be seeing us, alice. i'm not having any more babies."

"i'll remind you of that when i see you in a couple of years, you'll want another when louis is born."

"trust me, i possibly couldn't, this is too painful for me." little did they know.

"what a day." lando said once they had finally gotten into the car, rubbing his face in slight tiredness because he had been awake with louis most of the night. louis was currently going through a phase of having nightmares nearly every night and once he was awake, he wasn't able to go back to sleep again so lando and thea took it in turns to stay awake with him; last night being lando's turn.

"it's only quarter to eleven, babe." thea giggled, reaching into her dior bag to get her sunglasses so that she could sit comfortably on the way to her sisters home without being blinded by the slightly unusual may sun.

"it feels like i've been awake for a year, i'm not even joking." luckily there was a two week break between the races, seen as though it was the middle of may, which meant that lando was able to wake up in the middle of the night if he was wanted or needed.

"next time he wakes up, i'll get up with him, if you want?" thea suggested to him as she handed lando the car keys, finally letting him drive her mercedes' g-wagon for the first time in a year.

"i can't let you do that, love, you're pregnant." he told her as if it was the end of the entire world.

"just because i'm pregnant doesn't mean i can't comfort my son when he's scared." she said sarcastically, making him playfully roll his eyes. "and besides, you should be catching up on the sleep you miss out on when you're travelling."

"fair point but do you really want to share a bed with our nearly three year old whilst he yanks your hair." lando tried to prove his point but it wasn't working as well as he hoped it would.

"lando, babe, he's been grabbing my hair since he's been born. i'm used to it by now, and i only let him do it because it helps him sleep."

"i thought i was gonna wake up bald with the grip he had on my hair." lando over exaggerated making thea giggle as she connected her phone to the aux so that she could play some music. "are we still doing a gender reveal?"

"yeah, i was thinking that we could just have a little get together and just invite close friends and family." thea told him, wanting his opinion on the idea. "it's just a lot more personal and intimate than only posting something on instagram."

neither lando or thea wanted this pregnancy to be all over social media or in the headlines, they had done that mistake before. but as much as they appreciated most peoples kind words and advice, the couple felt as if they had to share everything they had found out with everybody online. when the news got announced that lando was going to be a father, the amount of questions he got based on his private life instead of racing became unbelievable. questions would be repeated or rephrased by other reporters, everybody would want to know more than they were entitled to and there was some situations when the press got too close and personal.

so after having the discussion of privacy when thea got pregnant for the second time, they both decided to keep the news private; only sharing it with their immediate family and very close friends. keeping it quiet had been a lot harder than they thought as they were constantly worrying about them or their family slipping up about the baby; but when thea had the miscarriage, the difficulty had increased rapidly. lando and thea wanted and needed to grieve, but when the public eye is on you nearly twenty-four seven, it becomes a challenge. the tears they held in when someone asked if they would have another baby, when they were planning to or if thea was pregnant would fall the second they were alone or wouldn't get interrupted. the loss of their baby was a pain that nobody should ever have to go through, but to basically experience it alone and not being able to talk to anybody about it felt like a new level of pain.

till this day, only limited people knew about the burden that the couple carried, those people giving endless love and support when they needed it most and lando and thea were utterly grateful for each of them.

and even during this pregnancy, things were going to stay out of the public eye; especially if there would be any unexpected complications to do with thea or the baby. thea had made a private instagram account only a few months ago to post pictures of her pregnancy, unseen pictures of louis or the three of them and any memories that she wanted to document; and it was probably one of the best decisions she had ever made. to have a place where she could post whatever she wanted for only a set amount of people that she chose to view felt like somewhat of escape for her.

that's why her and lando rarely post louis' face on their public social media, wanting to protect him from all of the negativity and just because his parents were in the spotlight, it didn't mean that he automatically had to be aswell. of course when he was still a baby, they loved to show him off to everybody online but once they understood and realised the downsides of doing this, they quickly stopped doing so.

"yeah, i get what you mean with that." lando agreed, both of them enjoying the idea of a little party without having to worry about covid or masks. "who are you thinking about planning it all?"

"i was talking to cass the other day and i was telling her that we would be finding out soon and she was so excited. plus, she loves planning things so it's an easy decision and your mum, sav, flo and cisca can help too, no doubt my mum will join in too."

"they'd love that, i'll message them later." the brunette man said, looking either side to check for any cars coming.

"do you wanna go over to theirs later on for dinner? your mum sent me a message this morning and i completely forgot to tell you about it."

"what's she making? that's the golden question."

"she is making-" thea started, grabbing her phone to look at the message as she had forgotten what her mother in law had said. "she's making chicken curry, you up for it?"

"i hope you don't have any meal ideas, babe, because that's all we'll be eating for the next few days." he joked, yet with a tone that shown that he was actually being slightly serious, the car pulling to a stop at a red light.

"shut up and say cheese." thea raised her phone up to make sure that they were both in the camera, the smiles on their faces genuine. it was only when she was looking at the photo to post that she realised that lando wasn't even looking at the phone. "you look very good but where were you looking?"
