act two — the start of the troubles
(⛈🐻💌🍯)

the past couple of days for thea had been difficult and tough to deal with, especially when she had to look after a toddler who knew nothing about what was going on at the same time and his constant questions about seeing him were starting to get too much, the facetime calls obviously not being enough for him but there was no way that thea could face him yet.

she hadn't made an effort to change her lock screen, the photo of a smiley lando cuddling louis whilst he held the ultrasound picture coming up whenever she looked at her phone, and as much as she never wanted to replace the photo as it was one of the best days of her life, she knew that she'd have to sooner or later.

thea's original plan was to go to london to visit her mum for a few days, wanting to get out of the place where she knew that she'd see lando, but olivia had already arrived in woking before thea had even got the chance to pack the bags. the first thing that olivia greene did when she saw her youngest daughter was holding her until thea pulled away, because that's what she always did when hugging her children; she never let go until they did because she never knows how much they might need that act of physical comfort.

"i don't understand what i did wrong." thea huffed, putting her head into her hands as olivia wasted no time into pulling her youngest daughter into the tightest hug as best as she could with thea's bump in the way."what did i do?"

"you've done absolutely nothing wrong, my darling, you can't have that mindset." olivia whispered, her tone of voice soft and gentle as if thea would break like something fragile, just like her feelings were right now.

"i thought we were for forever." thea sniffled, olivia rubbing her back as she swayed them slightly. "i wanted that to be us."

"maybe he was a soulmate who wasn't meant to be." olivia told thea the truth and as much as she didn't want to hear that, she knew that her mum was being truthful, no matter how much it hurt to hear.

"where's daddy?" louis asked, noticing that he hadn't seen his dad in a while, thea sucking in a small breath at his question.

"daddy's staying with nana." thea told him as vaguely as she possibly could, not wanting to overload the two year old with information that he wouldn't understand anything about.

"why?"

"he did some silly things that upset mummy so he's staying there for a little bit."

"can i still see him?" he asked and thea knew that he was desperate to keep seeing lando, and there was no way that she was going to stop them from seeing each other.

"of course you can, you can see him as much as you want to." thea nodded although louis couldn't see her as she began to sniffle.

"mummy, why are you sad?" louis asked quietly, looking up at his mum who was trying her hardest to keep her sniffles quiet so her child couldn't hear but he heard her loud and clear.

hearing his small voice next to her, thea quickly wiped the tears that were rolling down her cheeks before putting on a fake smile as she looked at him, caressing his cheek with her thumb. "i'm not sad, lou."

"why are you crying?" he was a smart little boy and he could tell when she lied and thea hated that and especially at times like this when she was indeed sad.

"don't worry about me, sweetheart, i'll be ok." she gently kissed his forehead, letting her lips linger for a few moments before pulling away and pulling him closer to her, his arms wrapped tightly around her. "you give the best hugs ever."

after about five to ten minutes of louis asking questions about his baby brother or sister, which thea was thankful for as it distracted her from the thoughts that upset her earlier, and with some light head scratches he had finally drifted off to sleep. thea never usually let louis sleep in her bed but she found a sense of comfort from him whenever he was around, and she needed that tonight so she made no efforts in carrying him back into his own room.

so as she lay in the bed with her sleeping toddler by her side, it left thea's mind to replay one of the petty arguments that her and lando had one night and despite the fact that they had argued for what felt like hours, neither of them could remember how it all started, that night being apart of the journey that led them to where they are now.

"what are we fighting for?" she asked him, dropping her shoulders in defeat as her tone of voice grew weak, this was not how she imagined her relationship with lando to be like. "it seems like we do it for fun."

"cause we keep on coming back for more, there's always something between us that makes us argue."
