Chapter 7: Trust Me

Authors Note: This is mostly a filler chapter, and I apologize! But you definitely need to settle yourself in this world. And I did the best I could to skip over getting yourself situated in the My Hero Universe :) If I went into every little detail of how you established your identity here, it would take forever!

Also - the fluff and lemon will be coming shortly ;) Just have to develop that bond, ya know? :)

********************

Hawks was kind enough to have a driver waiting for you on the curbside... but you graciously declined the car ride because... you didn't know where to tell the driver to drive to.

You needed to establish your identity. And fast.

You had your ways. And unfortunately you had to use those 'ways' illegally. Who would believe you if you told the truth of where you were from? And if someone did believe you, what would they do to you?

You had to tread carefully, this you knew. So... to work you went.

Establishing your identity, and registering your so-called 'Quirk' was certainly no easy feat... But not impossible. The first thing you did was get an ID card, registered, and put a down payment on a smaller penthouse in the heart of the city.

The only way you could afford all of this was because of the good ol' drug Doctor that first treated you when you had arrived in this world. What was even more laughable, was that you landed a job as a nursing assistant at the hospital due to your background of tech work in the military.

You were offered only a few days a week of work, but with a substantial amount of pay.

You wondered if the head Doctor thought you were attractive during your interview, because the numbers didn't quite add up. But you took it without hesitation.

You did all of this within the week.

And even in that short amount of time, you had found a small and remote place on the edge of the city while exploring. A secluded area with a few stone ruins that were surrounded by trees. Here, you decided this was the perfect place to unleash your skills.

You wanted some privacy. And the trees that surrounded this place were perfect just for that. Even though - just a few blocks away, the chaos of the metropolis ensured that you weren't fully secluded. But it worked for you nonetheless. This area gave you a chance to exercise your powers - flex and train yourself in the privacy of your own eyes, and yet, it was close enough to civilization so that you would be found if anything serious were to happen to you.

Some training was definitely needed before you inquired about being a Hero.

You also acquired a phone finally. You silently sat in the Livingroom of your home, your phone in one hand - a small piece of paper in the other.

The scribblings of Hawks' handwriting etched into the paper you held - reading his number that he gave you.

Oh, wait... his private number - you corrected yourself with a smirk dancing across your face.

The small smiley face that the bird-like Hero drew next to his number also made you chuckle. The man was indeed charming. He also had a kind soul - took his Hero work seriously, and was quite... arrogant at times.

Maybe it was all a facade, but my goodness - you didn't know if you wanted to check him out, or slap him in the face. Maybe both.

But those wings... seeing such a beautiful man whom possessed such characteristics was truly mesmerizing, and you couldn't wait to possibly see some of the other Pro Heroes in person. Even seeing the UA students - more specifically, class 1-A.

A tingle of excitement spread through your body as you thought about seeing more of the people whom you looked up to.

And without thinking, you texted Hawks.

Well... he did ask you to. For legal purposes.

You set your phone down as you looked out the window and at the setting sun melting behind the skyscrapers of the city. Being on the top floor certainly gave you quite the view.

Some dinner would be nice, since you weren't completely stocked with necessities just yet. And a walk sounded quite pleasant at the moment. You had already been flexing your powers within the last few days... but hesitated with your wings. It now somewhat frightened you. Taking to the sky was a completely different world, and your last flight wasn't exactly a smooth one. So hesitance and caution lingered in the back of your mind.

Indeed, a walk.

The street lights were starting to flicker on; a yellow hue emanating the constant busy streets.

You had found yourself looking from one persons face to the other, still in awe of everyone around you. Some individuals not even remotely human looking, but carried on as civilized beings.

It was all still insanely fascinating to you.

But in the midst of your gazing, a ruckus up ahead startled the crowds. The loud popping sound echoed throughout the air... and you knew those sounds all too well.

Possible gunfire.

People rushed past you as your military training kicked in as second instinct, and you fought against the sea of bodies - trying to get closer to the source of the threat.

When you finally found yourself clear of the panicked crowd, you saw three men - each equipped with unique masks to probably hide their identities, and an odd looking device strapped to each one of their right forearms.

The contraption looked to be some kind of weapon.

The three men yelled for people to stay back as they gripped to a huge sack that was probably filled with money.

You only assumed that, as these three idiots were coming from the bank.

Just your luck. A robbery.

You looked around yourself, trying to spot a Hero. Where the hell were all the Heroes?

"I'll take YOU." One of the robbers gestured towards a middle aged woman and what looked like her toddler son. "I need a hostage, and you'll do just fine! Heroes will be here any moment, now get your ass over here!"

The woman screamed in protest, trying to shield her son from the danger of them being taken. She then swung her purse in the man's face, making full contact with his nose and breaking it.

"Why you, BITCH!"

The man then raised his forearm, the weapon upon it clicked as he aimed. These goons were on a serious rampage if they were to resort to violence so easily.

"Oh, no you don't." You growled under your breath.

Instincts took over, and it was as if time had slowed down around you. The air rushed through your hair as you raced towards the woman and child.

Skidding to a stop and planting yourself in between the criminals and victims - you threw your left foot back, firmly digging your heel into the ground to stable yourself as you raised your right hand up; palm out.

That same retracting sound sucked in the air around you; creating a deep drop in bass as the veins in your arm glowed that angelic blue.

You heard the multiple popping sounds escape from the weapon pointed at you, and what you thought were bullets, were actually over glorified ones - probably this man's Quirk. An enhancement of bullet-like projectiles.

And almost invisible to the naked eye, a clear shield materialized in front of you and the woman and child. The bullets instantly stopping at the barrier that rippled before you.

And as if on impulse, you dropped your palm with the shield and swung your other hand up to create a powerful counter attack. The force behind the shock wave you created sent all three men flying to their backs; colliding with the brick wall of the bank. The impact - knocking them out cold.

You heaved heavily as your nose began to bleed.

"Thank you, Miss!" The woman behind you clung to your wrist as her toddler huddled against her chest. The tears of fear and relief rolled down the woman's flushed cheeks, and you couldn't help but to sympathize for her - considering the danger that her and her child were in just seconds ago.

"Are you both okay?" Your voice came out more confident than you thought it would as the woman nodded.

"A-are you a Hero?" She asked.

Your eyes lit up, but you shook your head from side to side.

"Well... you really should be." The woman stammered. "Thank you again. I cannot express that enough."

"No worries." You smiled. "I'm just glad that you're okay."

"But are you okay?" She asked, finally letting your wrist go and gesturing towards the blood that rolled from your nose.

You chuckled. "Yeah, just a little side effect of my Quirk is all."

Suddenly, it seemed that a few side-kick Heroes had already entered the scene. As did a few Police Officers whom were already handcuffing the knocked out criminals.

"Yeah, that's her."

"Yup. That pretty lady over there saved her."

"Yeah, man! I got that all on film!"

You looked around to see a forming crowd whom were talking to the Officers - who were obviously taking witness reports. And to your dismay... they were all staring at you.

You cringed, as the full on attention from the public at this moment made your heart race. But if you didn't think that your heart could race any faster... think again.

Your heart just about busted through your sternum as a massive man appeared a few yards before you. His blue Hero suit clung to him tightly. His toned muscles flexed under his tension. The orange flames upon his body and face danced upward into a yellow display.

The Number 1. Endeavor.

You swallowed hard as his piercing aqua eyes met yours with interest. It was almost as if he were conducting a quick analysis of you - trying to figure you out on his own.

'The judgmental Bastard.' You thought to yourself.

You were instantly intimidated, and the discomfort came in full speed when you noticed this tank-of-a-man starting to make his way towards you with a purpose.

But as the crowd around you began to grow even more because of the Pro Hero's presence, you noticed Endeavor's eyes cut sharply to the side - rethinking his route as he then turned to a more secluded area of the scene.

You released a breath that you didn't know you were holding; the relief flooding over you.

"Well hey there, Sweet Stuff!"

You whipped around to the now familiar voice.

Hawks stood right behind you - and you didn't even notice this Bird Man come swooping in. He must be really swift and quick. But the chatter of the surrounding crowd swooning over the Number 2's appearance finally gave way to his arrival.

"I haven't seen you in a while!" He smiled, completely ignoring the calls from the horde of people being told to stay back and off of the crime scene by Officials.

"Its only been a week." You flatly outted.

"Oh? Keeping track of when you'd see me again?" The high collar of his Hero jacket covered half of his smirk.

You went to open your mouth for a comeback, but you really were dumbfounded when it came to this man. Was he being flirty with you because that's just the way he was? Or was it because he thought you were attrac-.....

"So has trouble found you?" Hawks continued as he gestured to his surroundings. "Or you found trouble?"

"Apparently trouble has found me." You countered as you eyed him up and down - insinuating that he was definitely trouble.

"Well aren't you the spunky one tonight. Ya know... I'm beginning to think that you go looking for these dangerous situations. Or you just have some really odd luck."

"I definitely have some odd luck." You huffed.

"Are you okay?" His tone lowered a notch as he stepped closer to you.

You smiled. "Yeah. I'm okay, thanks."

Hawks then cocked his head to the side; examining you for himself. His yellow eyes scanned over you, but he concentrated on your bloodied nose.

"Ya know, Kid... be smart enough to know when you need help, and brave enough to ask for it. I'm here if you need anything."

And with that, Hawks leaned in and gently wiped the blood from your face with a tissue, and then handed it to you to rid the rest of it.

You rapidly blinked at his somewhat affectionate gesture, not exactly knowing what to say or do. He was also quick to pick up on your stubbornness of not wanting to show any kind of weakness.

"And hey!" Hawks exclaimed. "I just got your text!"

The Pro Hero then held his phone up to your face as you practically went cross-eyed when he did.

"Super." Was all you could say.

"Says here that you're finally available to talk." Hawks pulled his phone from your face as he saved your number.

"That was before I spent my energy trying to defend myself and others."

"Well then, when is a good time for yo- ... Oh hey, Endeavor!"

Hawks' eyes lit up as he spotted the Number 1 Hero nearby - as his full attention submitted to the flaming man.

That wasn't surprising... but what WAS surprising, was how Hawks just casually rested his hand upon your shoulder and practically dragged you with him.

"Oof!" You about stumbled over, but caught yourself as you twirled around under Hawks' hand and out of his grip.

You adjusted yourself as you quickly slipped out of the crowd. You knew this was a bad idea as you hadn't even filed a report with the authorities yet. You then decided that you would do that first thing tomorrow morning. But for now, you needed a breather.

But that breather wasn't going to come as you heard the rough flapping of wind approaching you.

You didn't need to turn around to see what... or who it was. You already knew.

"In a hurry?" Hawks jolted forward and gracefully landed in front of you; blocking your way.

You only casually side stepped and continued to walk past him.

The Pro Hero's half lidded eyes twitched, as he wasn't used to someone completely ignoring him.

You didn't mean to show any disrespect towards the Number 2 Pro Hero, but his flirtatious acts were getting on your nerves. Because if you were being honest with yourself... you were starting to crush on this bird man. And that ticked you off... you didn't actually know him. Nor did he you.

But why did he continually make an effort? That was actually out of character for him. That much you knew.

Maybe he just wanted to know more about the League. For all you knew, Hawks was probably undercover with the League at the moment. That would make sense as to why he was so pushy to talk to you about that day.

And that made you even more annoyed. Your overthinking has now reached a new level - and Hawks was about to test your limits.

Maybe if you told him everything that happened that day, word for word, he would then leave you alone.

"You know..." He continued as he began to walk backwards - but keeping his pace in front of you. His wings slightly extended out to balance his pathway. "I have every right to apprehend you - considering you just left a crime scene."

"Well..." You stopped in your tracks and held up your hands in front of you - as if ready to be cuffed. "Are you going to apprehend me or not?"

"Woahhh, slow down there, Kiddo." Hawks chuckled; waving his hands in front of him. "I wouldn't have put handcuffs on you, but if that's what you're into." Hawks winked.

You practically rolled your eyes as you continued on your way.

'There he goes!' You irritably thought to yourself. Those flirtatious comments. Should you just bluntly ask him about it?

"Where are you going?"

"Well..." You started. "I was thinking of dinner, but my appetite kinda disappeared. So maybe some coffee would suffice about now."

"I know an amazing coffee shop nearby. May I?"

You stopped walking again, but this time - taking in the man before you. Hawks' features were softened; his eyes gentle. He then reached his black gloved hand out to you.

"Trust me."

You squinted at him, wondering what he was insinuating by asking you to trust him.

A light breeze flickered a few strands of your hair in your face, but you didn't budge - still gazing at the Pro Hero before you.

You then slowly reached out to his hand, but retracted slightly with a second thought...

Hawks noticed your hesitation, but still kept his gentle demeanor; patiently waiting for you to cross that threshold.

Pushing your second thoughts to the back of your mind, you then fully took hold of his hand - his palm softly but firmly gripping yours as he smiled wider than you had ever witnessed him smile.

"Hold on to me."

"Wha-?"

You didn't even have time to ask questions as the Pro Hero pulled you into his chest, wrapped one arm around your waist, and the other lifting your legs - scooping you up easily.

And with one fluid motion, the flap of his powerful wings sent you jetting into the purple sky.
