As you stood in the bathroom, you gazed at yourself in the mirror.

Seeing yourself in the UA gym uniform put a gleam in your eye.

You ran your hands down the shirt, admiring the simple things in this very moment.

But as it started to slowly dawn on you... the reason WHY you were wearing this outfit sent the pit of your stomach to your throat.

When you finally exited the restroom, Aizawa was leaning against the wall. Arms crossed - with one foot resting up on the surface behind him. The look of impatience was evident.

"Follow me." Was all he said.

You nodded and complied once again without question.

You soon came to an open exercise field, which you recognized immediately.

The P.E. Grounds. The same site Aizawa used for the Quirk Apprehension Test for the students of Class 1-A when they first arrived here.

You looked around and didn't see a single soul. You did pass by a few students when coming here. Some were still working on their breakfast, some conversing with their fellow classmates, and others in Hero costume whilst training.

But there was no one currently training in this area. Maybe most of them were training within the indoor arenas. Those were probably more practical for their current skill level.

"L/N." Aizawa snapped you from your gazing. "Before we use your Quirk... before we exercise that muscle... let's see what your physical muscles can do."

You swallowed hard; wondering what the teacher had in store for you.

"First... I want you to show me some raw techniques. You are not allowed to use your Quirk in this exercise unless stated for you to do so. If you do without permission... you'll be thrown out of here faster than you can say 'Hero'. Do I make myself clear?"

"Yes, Sir."

And as Aizawa continued, from out of nowhere - a group of people began to crowd around you. They didn't look like students... but one thing was for certain... these were your opponents.

Your military training quickly kicked in as you instantly analyzed those around you. Hastily taking in the number of bodies, their size, their movements, and the odds against you.

'About 25 opponents.' You ran through your head. 'Making me believe that they will come at me in waves of possibly 5 to 6 at a time.

Different statures... And I must be prepared if they're allowed to use their Quirks against me.

Nothing stands out too much. One of them looks to have a water-related Quirk... another with protruding spikes, this one showing rock-like qualities...'

You went on, trying to evaluate each and every one of your opponents.

"Do not waste my time." Aizawa broke your concentration. "So show me what you are capable of."

You took your fighting stance; ready for anything.

It was deathly silent for but a few seconds, but as soon as Aizawa gave the signal, 5 individuals came running at you without using their Quirks.

You were faster than those against you, and the odds were definitely in your favor at the moment.

It was almost as if it were a choreographed scene - as you swiftly ducked, rotated, and landed every punch and kick to your targets - bringing them down quickly.

And as you predicted, the next wave of competitors came for you... but with barely a breather from the first group.

Again, you brought them down swiftly - but this time, these individuals seemed a bit more skilled in combat than the first.

So... Aizawa was sending waves of people with different skill levels... starting with the easiest first.

But your self-defense skills never failed you, bringing down group after group that was sent after you.

And as your lungs cried out in protest - you were now coming to the last wave of challengers... but you noticed that this last group - had been added to. 12 more people stood before you; ready for combat as Aizawa held a hand up - motioning for them to wait.

"They will use their Quirks, L/N." Aizawa announced.

You were simply trying to catch your breath now, as you leaned over - resting your palms on your knees to regain your composure. Your muscles now burned and strained against your will... but you wouldn't dare give up now.

You were also too concentrated on how you would play this last round out to notice the growing crowd of students behind Aizawa... some were from Class 1-A.

The commotion from the P.E. Grounds must've drawn the attention, as it was hard to miss the dust starting to rise in the air, and the loud grunts and moans from those who you beat to the ground.

And once again, the signal was given for the battle to begin - as all 12 Quirk-using individuals came running at you with no mercy.

You quickly ripped your gym shirt off; white tank top exposed. And with a forceful whip of the UA top, it sharply collided in someone's eyes. And with a quick twist - the shirt wrapped around someone else's neck. You used their neck as leverage, and swung around them as if they were a pole - kicking another to the ground - and bringing your 'human-pole' down with the other.

The chatter from the students behind Aizawa began to get louder - because here you were - defending yourself against an unfair amount of others who were using their Quirks... when you couldn't use yours.

"L/N!" Aizawa shouted as you dodged a harsh stream of water. "You have full permission to use your Quirk!"

That was all you needed. And without thinking, you twirled around and heaved your balled-up fist into the dirt ground - greedily sucking up the energy from below and around you.

The ground began to rumble, and the wind picked up around you. Your veins began to illuminate, and the swirl of molecules started to become visible as they formed into what looked like an atomic ball of energy ready to explode.

You shook beneath the amount of power you embraced; regretting it instantly. But now... you needed to harness it - and hope you could control it.

Some of the students were awe struck, but Aizawa had to raise his voice over the pulsing energy you had pulled to surface. "Stay back!" He shouted towards the students. "She does not have full control over her Quirk."

The teacher was good at what he did, and his keen senses and eyes could instantly tell that you were struggling to get a hold of whatever you were manifesting.

Your shock wave bashed against your opponents already - knocking them out cold. Now... you were trying to stop.

Aizawa watched you carefully; grabbing hold of his goggles - ready to use his Quirk to cease yours. But before he took those drastic measures, he whipped his scarf towards you. You saw this, and closed your eyes - creating an opening for Aizawa's weapon to get ahold of you. You needed help.

The Pro Hero noticed your intended opening for him, and he took it.

The material thickened around your waist as it wrapped securely around your hips and to your shoulders; bringing you down hard.

And as soon as you hit the ground, your power dissipated. But it was then that you realized... your arm was broken.

You winced in pain as the scarf left your body. And you just laid there; staring up at the overcast sky.

Disappointment washed over you as your hooded eyes threatened to spill tears of frustration.

"Hey! Can I help you up?"

The friendly voice startled you, and an embarrassing squeak of surprise escaped your lips as someone hovered over you with a hand reached out for support.

But that voice was all too familiar - as you took in the sight of the short boy whom stood over you.

His round face was framed by a short mess of fluffy dark-green hair. And his large brilliant emerald eyes gave him an innocent, and energized appearance.

His cute freckles stretched with his wide, and yet concerned smile as he still held out his palm to you.

Izuku Midoriya.

"Stop being a damn nerd, Deku!"

You gulped as you slightly turned your head to the side to see the slim, and yet muscular build of a guy standing next to you; glaring at Izuku whilst slapping his hand away from you.

His short, spikey sandy-blonde hair with choppy bangs hung over his eyebrows - and his sharp bright red eyes looked to his classmate, and then to you.

"Get up, Extra." His tone - not quite as annoyed with you as it was with Izuku. "You put on a show like that - you had better get your ass up yourself."

It sounded like advice more than anything. Katsuki Bakugo... using a lower tone just for you?

It was all too much - finally seeing these guys in person. And as your adrenaline started to wear off, the pain in your arm started to take its toll - and you said the first thing on your mind "I think I'm going to vomit."

"You think? Or you will?" Yet a third male voice sounded on the other side of you.

If you could explode, you've exploded about 50 times already. Because you knew that calming and yet monotone voice.

Your eyes looked to the source - and he stood tall. His parted white and red hair cascaded around his face - as his reserved dual-colored eyes looked down upon you.

Shoto Todoroki.

What a way to meet these three soon-to-be Heroes.

Here. In the dirt. As you announced that you might vomit.

Brilliant.

You then sat up, and as you did - your head started to spin. You tightly shut your eyes for a minute; shaking your head to rid of the vertigo. And as you opened them, you had hoped that you were imagining seeing Izuku, Katsuki, and Shoto. But to your dismay... the three of them were still there - all eyes on you.

Katsuki stood before you with his arms crossed in full Hero costume - minus his grenade gauntlets.

Izuku and Shoto were on either side of you - in full Hero costume as well; kneeling down with their arms slightly extended in your direction - as if ready to help you up if needed.

You cradled your arm. "I think it's broken." You winced as you stood to your feet without any help. You only did this out of respect for Katsuki. If you could already start gaining his respect, then the others would be no problem.

Izuku scrunched his nose in concern. "Let's get you to the infirmary. Recovery Girl can probably fix that in a jiffy!"

You nodded in agreement as you were to be escorted by Shoto and Izuku.

Katsuki on the other hand, still held his gaze towards you.

It was quite out of character for him to not say too much, nor throw at least some insults.

You smiled at him. "Thank you for the advice."

"Tch." The blonde broke eye contact as he dramatically looked to the side, and then back at you again - almost as if he couldn't stop staring at you. Weird.

"You three." Aizawa motioned to the three students. "Back to what you were doing. I'll take care of this."

Izuku's face fell - as he was hoping to ask you more about your Quirk. You did have something in common with him... and he felt drawn to you because of that.

Instead, he graced you with such a warm smile; you couldn't help but to smile in return as he spoke. "Hopefully we will see you again - so that we may be properly introduced. Nice fighting techniques by the way."

"Thank you." You shakily grinned.

Shoto nodded in your direction, and Katsuki took one last look at you before the three of them walked off.

You snorted as you could finally hear the yelling of the spikey-haired blonde echoing in the distance.

You then inhaled deeply, the pain now starting to get to you.

"You have little control over your Quirk." Aizawa blandly stated.

"I-I'm sorry." You stuttered. "It's something that I've been working on... but I didn't think I'd pull that much power in that moment."

"You also have an extensive form of training in physical combat. Where did you learn such maneuvers?"

"I have some military background, Sir." You faintly admitted.

"We have much to work on. And do not keep vital information to yourself such as lack of control over your Quirk. Communication is what I need. Understood?"

You nodded as your eyes lit up, because regardless of your lack of control - Aizawa just acknowledged that he would be working with you. You obviously had potential, and he saw it.

And as the Pro Hero walked you to the infirmary, you basked in the joy of being one more step closer to becoming a Hero.

********************

Since your arm was fully recovered - for the past month, you had been personally training with Aizawa. Showing up to UA High six days a week; every morning and until dusk. The Pro Hero would train you in between his classes - sometimes you would sit through a few lessons with Class 1-A.

Izuku couldn't stop talking to you. Shoto would stand near you; listening to what you would have to say... even offering some of his cold soba to you at one point. And Katsuki... he would simply just stare at you at times. And when you would smile in his direction, or try to speak to him - he would return your gestures with a 'Tch' or turn his attention elsewhere. He wouldn't yell at you... but just stand by and seemingly absorb who you were in his own way.

One person that you hadn't seen around much was All Might. It was a simple 'hello' here and there, but that was about it.

You had hoped to continue that conversation you both had when you first arrived here. You had questions that needed to be answered. But... that would apparently have to wait.

You also hadn't unleashed your power like the day you first came to UA - but instead, building up on it slowly. Because the Hero Commission was coming in just a few days time now - to test you for themselves.

Aizawa explained that after the tests - and if you were up to par - you would have a choice to pursue further in becoming a Pro Hero by interning with one (if a Pro offered it to you).

Or attending UA.

You didn't think about which option you would choose. Because in all honesty, you hadn't thought about it. You wanted to condition yourself to pass the academic tests first. Then you would think about what you wanted to do when that time came.

But... there wasn't a single day that went by that you didn't think of Hawks.

That bastard hadn't shown his face in the past month, and that kind of pissed you off. But... you would get a text message from him about every other day - asking how you were and if you were okay. Also - the feather he had left with you never failed to leave your side.

It was sweet in a way... but you wondered why he hadn't come to see you. Especially after his shameless display of interest in you the last time you had seen him.

Grant it, he was a Pro Hero. And you didn't exactly know what state he was currently in, or what he was dealing with.

Was he undercover with the League yet? Long hours on patrol?

You decided that you would be patient with the situation. And besides... you had already told yourself that you wouldn't get involved with him.

And the night before your big day in front of the Hero Public Safety Commission, you were planted on the rooftop of your penthouse; gazing at the endless night sky before bed.

You held Hawks' feather in your hand, twirling it around between your fingers and gently caressing its softness. You found a sort of comfort with his feather now - and you had no shame in admitting that to yourself.

So whatever was to come after tomorrow, you would accept it. And you would fight even harder to achieve your dreams.

And as you stood up to retire for the night, a light rattling sound came from across the large balcony. You twirled around... but nothing was there.

But you could have sworn you had seen a flash of deep crimson feathers from the corner of your eye.

Maybe you were thinking about Hawks too much, because now you were seeing things.

But what you didn't know... was just how close Hawks had always been to you throughout this entire past month.
