chapter one | hi, i'm ariel

"Lydia? Are you okay? What do you hear?" Malia asks Lydia, worriedly.

"The key," she whispers back. "The key to break the code," she says before running over to her laptop and typing it in.

"Wha- what is this?" Malia questions nervously as she watches names blink on the screen.

"It's a list of supernaturals in Beacon Hills, its a deadpool... and we're all on it."

"So the Walcott's were the first , at least the first we know about," Stiles informs his dad.

"Four murders," adds Scott. "Sean, his brother, and their parents."

"They were killed by a professional assasin called The Mute. Weaponary choice: a military tomahawk."

"But then," Scott cuts off. "The Mute was killed by Peter Hale, after he tried to blow up Derek with a claymore mine."

"Next was Demarco, he delievered a keg to the party at Lydia's lakehouse."

"We found him outside his car, decapitated." Scott adds.

"Actually," Stiles glares at Scott. "I found him, and I'm officially scarred for life thank you very much."

Scott rolls his eyes. "He was definitely a were-wolf, and I think he was apart of a pack."

"Well if he was they'll be looking for him right?" Sheriff Stilinski asks the boys in front of him.

Stiles nods in confirmation. "Right, now moving on, and then last night there was 23 year-old Carrie Hudson. It's a deadpool."

"A hit list of supernatural creatures," Scott adds.

"This is only part of it, the rest has to be decoded," Stiles finishes off.

Sheriff Stilinski nods his head, soaking in everything he's hearing. "Alright, and who found this?"

"Lydia," Scott answers.

"How?"

"She wrote it."

"Actually, she transcribed it without realizing it," Stiles corrects.

"Banshee?"

"Banshee," Stiles confirms.

"Beautiful, alright, what are these numbers?"

"We're getting to that, first, you need to know the code was broken with a cipher key."

"Wait, you mean like a keyword?" Mr. Stilinski asks, eyebrows furrowed in confusion.

"Um," Stiles shifts his weight uncomfortably. "It's actually a name..."

"Allison," Scott whispers, fist clenched.

No one says anything-- giving a few seconds of silence for the fallen warrior.

Stiles sighs before talking again. "Her name broke a third of the list, and now we think there's two other cipher keys."

"Which will give us the rest of the names," Scott speaks up recovering from the little moment.

The Sheriff lets out a deep breath. "Okay so how do we get the other cipher keys."

Stiles shrugs. "The same way we got the code."

"Lydia," the were-wolf next to him states. "She's been out at the lakehouse all weekend trying to find the other two key words."

"You didn't know about Demarco and Carrie? And what about these other names? Uh, Kayleen Bettcher and Elias Town... Town? What kimd of last name is that?" The Sheriff asks.

Stiles gives him a look. "Seriously? Have our last name? Stilinski? What is a Stilinski?"

"Anyways," Scott jumps in before the Shiriff can reply. "They could be were-wolfs, I don't know, but Deaton said that The Nemeton would draw supernatural creatures here."

"Here?" The Sheriff repeats. "As in here being Beacon Hills or Beacon County? The population of Beacon Hills is just under 30,000."

"And dropping," Stiles quickly adds.

Mr. Stilinski gives him a pointed look. "However, if your talking about Beacon County then you're looking at close 500,000 people. Look, how many werewolves, banshees, kitsunes, and whatever the hell is out there are we talking about? And what if the next cipher key uncovers, not 12 names, but 100? Then what?"

"Well, thats the thing," Stiles starts. "We don't think there will be that many."

Sheriff Stilinski raises his eyebrows. "Continue."

"There's a limit, because of the numbers."

"We think," Scott starts up. "That the numbers will add up to 171 million. Stolen from the Hale vault and is being used by someone to finance all of these murders."

"Someone who wants every supernatural in Beacon Hills dead," Stiles finishes for him.

"So the coded list goes out," The Sheriff starts putting the pieces together. "And somehow these proffesional assasins get the list."

"And the cipher key," Stiles reminds him.

"And then they go after the names on the list," The Sheriff continues. "They being killers with no mouths, tomahawks, thermo-cut wires that can take your head off."

"Let me see," Stiles says, taking the picture of Carries dead body. "What are these marks?"

"We're not sure yet, we're waiting on the ME's report. But there's one thing I don't get, how did this new assasin know that Demarco was going to be at the lake house?"

"Everyone knows that he delivers kegs to teenagers for extra cash," Scott answers.

"Ah, so whoever ordered that keg killed Demarco."

Stiles nods his head. "Yeah, it was someone at the party."

"A student," Scott finishes.

Sheriff Stilinski opens his mouth to make a comment but Stiles ringtone cuts him off.

Stiles puuls out his phone and looks at the screen. "Oh, it's Lydia, it might be about the cipher key. Hello? Did you find anything?"

"Oh, I um, definitely found something."

"Well, what is it? Is it another cipher key?"

"Oh no, it has nothing to do with the deadpool. In fact, I think it's debatable that its bigger than the deadpool?"

"Bigger? What could possibly be bigger?" Stiles asks as Scott and Mr. Stilinski share a look.

"You might want to come down and see for yourself."

"What why can't you tell me?"

"Because you won't believe me if I do."

"After everything we've all been through, I'm pretty sure I would."

Malia snatches the phone from Lydia. "Look, Stiles, just get down here and bring Scott amd Kira too. Trust me, there going to want to see this."

Stiles rubs his forehead and sighs. "Fine will be right there."

He hangs up the phone and turns back to Scott and his dad. Sheriff raises his eyebrow. "Well?"

"She found something but it doesn't have to do with the deadpool. She wants us to go take a look."

Scott nods his head, they exchange goodbyes and then walk out.

"We gotta pick up Kira too," Stiles informs Scott as he opens the car door.

Scott furrows his eyebrows. "What is so big that she needs all of us there?"

Stiles shrugs. "I don't know."

*

Stiles pulls over his car at the lake house before getting out, Scott and Kira following suit.

"What did you have to show us?" Scott asks.

"I don't know why you couldn't just tell me."

Lydia gives Stiles an annoyed look. "Because you have yo see this for yourself, okay?"

"What is so big that you can't eve-- holy shit!"

They stared, they stared at the girl in front of them.

The girl with the fierce, bright red hair.

The girl with the hypnotic, blue eyes.

The girl with the angelic voice.

The girl that was part fish.

The girl that was a mermaid.

"Hi, I'm Ariel."
