chapter five

chapter five | she's gone

Scott walks in the locker room and sees a passed out Brett. Viotlet takes him off guard and jumps on his back, wrapping her thermo cutwire around his neck. "He said we shouldn't try," she smirks. "But now, I've got you. I got an Alpha."

Scott quickly grabs the wire and swings her off of him, throwing her into the lockers and knocking her out cold. "I think you better call your dad," he tells his best friend that he heard come in. He notices his friend's rapid heartbeat and turns around.

"She's gone," Stiles tells Scott, his eyes glistening in tears. "Someone took her, she's gone."

"Ah!" A small scream ecapes Ariel's taped mouth as Garett throws her inside the car. Ariel starts to cry as her now sensitive wet tail is squished in the back seats. Garett opens the driver door and sits down. He backs up the car and drives to the school to pick up Violet.

"Mmm, mmm," Ariel cries out as loud as possible through the duck tape, trying and hoping Scott or anyone would hear her.

Garett quickly turns around and gives Ariel a right hook. Tears fall down her face as a bruise already starts growing. Garett turns his attention back to the police cars and watch in horror as the officers escort a handcuffed Violet into a police car.

The Sheriff looks at his son in corncern as he walks up to him tears on his face. "Somebody took her Dad, somebody took her!" Stiles yells, a few streaks of tears on his cheeks.

"Who?" The Sheriff asks his distraught son.

"Ariel, they took Ariel," Scott tells the Sheriff, seeing that Stiles is having a hard time talking.

The Sheriff nods. "I'm going to need a ABP on a seventeen year old girl.."

Stiles quickly cuts him off. "She's about this high," he says his palm facing down near his chest. "She has bright red hair, and I'm talking bright red, like a type of red you can see from a mile away, and its really soft silky that you just want to run your fingers in. She also has these beautiful, beautiful ocean blue eyes that you could stare at for hours, and pale skin, but I'm not talking like a deathly pale-- no, no more like a beautiful soft milky color. And her lips look so red and plump and you just want to kiss them and kiss them everyday and everynight. Dad, if you see the most beautiful girl in the world and ocean then you have definitely found her." He looks up at his Dad. "Was that enough?"

Garett forcefully drags Ariel of of the car. He picks her up and tosses her body into the warehouse. Her body rolls, black dots blinding her eyes as her head hits the concrete multiple times.

Garett picks up the half concious mermaid and puts her into a chair, putting her tail into a bucket of water. "You're gonna stay here," he tells her pointing a finger in her face.

She tries her best to roll her eyes but its hard with how much her head is hurting.

Garett picks up his soaking wolfsbanes lacrosse stick. "I'll be back," he says a smirk and twirls the stick. "I have a werewolf to catch."

"It's not just that we were friends with them. They were using us for their cover. I mean, professional killers were using us. How are you not freaking out about that?" Mason asks his friend as they jog through the woods.

"Trust me, I'm freaking out about a lot," Liam tells him, running faster as he tries to take his mind off of things.

"Liam! Liam, hey, Liam! Slow down!"

"Hey, Liam," Garett says popping out of nowhere. "Sorry about missing movie night but don't worry, I've got something else planned," he tells him before knocking him out.

"Liam? Liam?" Mason calls out to his friend turning around the forest looking for him. He pulls out his phone and calls the one person he can think of. "Hey Scott? Liam is missing."

Stiles burst into Lydia's house and runs up the stairs.

"Hey, Stiles calm down!" Scott tells his friend as Stiles shifts through the guest room drawers where Ariel is staying.

"No!" Stiles shouts. He quickly grabs her shirt and hands it to Scott.

Scott takes the shirt from his hands and sighs. "You know Liam is missing to."

"I don't care about Liam! Ariel is more important!" Stiles exclaims to his best friend. "Its been a day, okay? A day without her! And I know it might not seem much but it is to me. Remember, remember those days without Alison? Yeah, well thats how I'm feeling now!" Stiles tells his friend both anger and desperation filling his words. "Now shove that in your face and find her."

Scott recalls how he felt empty without Alison and he doesn't want his best friend, his brother, go through the same thing. He nods and sniffs the shirt.

"Do you have the scent?" Stiles asks, Scott nodding in return. "Good, now lets go."

The two best friends walk into the car. "Alright, where to?" Stiles asks his best friend.

Scott rolls down the window and sniffs the air. "Go straight," he tells Stiles who follows his directions. "Take.. take a left. Now take a right and another left."

Stiles pulls into the school parking lot. "He's hiding her in the school?" He asks in disbelief.

Scott furrows his eyebrows and shakes his head before getting out of the car, Stiles follows suit.

"I- I don't smell her anymore," Scott says shaking his head. "The scent it's-- it's just gone."

"What do you mean it's 'just gone'?" Stiles asks, his arms flailing around. "Her scent can't just be gone. She can't just disappear in thin air. Alright? She's not Houdini."

Scott sighs in frustration wanting to know where the mermaid is too. He runs his hands through his hair and shakes his head. "I don't know, I just-- I don't know."

Stiles runs a hand down his face and turns around to face the parking lot looking and hoping he can find a clue that could help find Ariel.

His eyes land on an old parking lot where a blonde rich kids car used to park. "Jackson," he mutters. His eyes widen. "The Kanima, Jackson."

Scott looks at Stiles confused. "What does that have to do with anything?"

Stiles turns around to face his beest friend a glint of hope in his eyes. "Remember Jackson and the Kanima?"

Scott rolls his eyes. "How could I forget?" He says crossing his arms.

"No no no, do you remember the either or thing? When Jackson had a different scent then when he was the Kanima and he had no scent?"

Scotts eyes widen in realization. "So some how Garett must have had her turn back into part fish."

Stiles crosses his arms and glares at him. "The politically correct term is mermaid. Don't say 'part fish', it sounds rude."

"But wait, wouldn't she smell like... uh, fishy or oceany."

"Okay one, you need to stop talking and two, those aren't words!"

Scott opens his mouth to reply but gets cut off by his phone ringing. "Liam?"

Stiles rolls his eyes as he crosses his arms. He taps his foot in annoyance wanting to go back to finding Ariel.

"Liam?" Scott asks.

"Sounds like you already know the answer to that, Scott," Garett says on the other line a taunting smirk on his face.

"Where is he?"

"He? Only he? Are you not worried about your mermaid?"

"Give her back," Scott growls.

Stiles immediately grabs the phone. "Okay, listen here you little rat--you will give me back my Ariel or I will find you and shove a very large pole up your white a--"

Scott quickly takes the phone away. "Where are they?"

"Oh come on, Scott. Do you really think I'm actually going to tell you that?"

"Turn it on speaker now," Stiles demands. Scott nods at his best friend and does exactly what he tells him to do. "I'll give you the money," Scott bargins.

"Yeah you will, but that's not going to get neither of them back. You're going to have to put in a little more effort than that."

"What do you want?"

"I want the money and Violet or you'll never see Liam and you're precious mermaid again," he mocks them.

"Okay, what do you want me to do? You want me to go to Stilinski? I can do that or I can talk to my father-- he's an FBI agent."

"You think I want you talking to anyone with a badge?" He asks slightly angered that he would even suggest that. "I'm not getting help from a werewolf because I want him to talk to someone."

"Then what am I supposed to do?"

"They are transferring Violet to a federal facility and you are not gonna let that happen."

"How?"

"They're going to put her in a car. We're going to follow it. We get ahead of it, you stop it."

"You want me to attack a car? That's your plan?"

"You're an Alpha. If you can't stop one little car, then one little Beta is going to die. I stabbed your boy with a blade dipped in wolfsbane. Once it gets to the heart... bad things happen."

Garett walks over to Liam and make sure Scott hears him groaning in pain. "And lets not forget about your mermaid," he says stabbing her tail with a knife.

She screams bloody murder her tail in so much pain. Garett twists the knife making her scream again. "Please, please stop," she begs.

Scott looks at his broken hearted friend who's crying next to him, knowing they're both thinking the same thing.

They just might not get there in time.
