"Tch. Damn it." you began to lose consciousness as you fought against the demons.

You were already injured when you came to the site of the accident. Damn demons took advantage of that.

Suddenly, you heard a sickening crack. It was your lover...

"[Lover's Name]!!!"

"______... make sure... h-he takes... g-good c-care of you..."

"[Lover's Name]!!! Wh-wh-what do you mean!? Who is h--"

"Don't worry... I'll always take care of her..." a voice interrupted.

"Y-Yu...kio...kun..."

He took out his other gun and shot at the demons coming your way.

"Sorry I wasn't here sooner... those demons wouldn't let me get to you and... I really am sorry..."

"..." you only cried.

"Stay here. You're still recovering from your previous mission, right?" He asked with a small, forced smile.

You closed your eyes and nodded your head only for him to ruffle your hair.

"You're not useless, ______. You're a strong and beautiful girl so don't wear that frown on your face."

Tears became visible on your blood-streaked face.

"Let me protect you, okay?"

Without saying a word, Yukio began firing at the demons, his brother showing up moments later.

When the job was done, he crouched down and pulled you into an embrace.

"Shhh..." he began as he caressed your hair. "I'm here now... I promised him I would take good care of you if something were ever to occur..."

You only responded by nuzzling your face into the crook of his neck, your hands held tightly onto his coat.

He then carried you bridal-style and signaled Rin to carry your late lover.

"... I... I'm sorry for your loss, ______..." Rin spoke softly.

You peered out over Yukio's shoulder and silently nodded.

Yukio held you tighter and whispered softly in your ear, "I'm sorry... ______. Please. Please depend on me like you did with--"

You interrupted him by pressing your chapped lips to his cheek.

"... thank you... Yukio..."

Quickly discarding his shocked look, he put on a small smile.

"There's no need. I told you before, didn't I?

I will always protect those I love."

After hearing his short confession, you finally passed out, a small smile adorning your sleeping face.
