The One He Didn't Notice [Part 1] (Akashi Seijuuro)

"Now, class. My name is Yamamoto Hiro. I'd first like to welcome all of you to Rakuzan High. As your home room teacher, I'd like to get to know all of your names, so if you would please introduce yourselves. Starting with our class president."

"Hai. My name is Akashi Seijuuro. It's a pleasure to meet you."

"Hai, hai. Akashi-san. Next is our..."

'Hm??? Akashi Seijuuro... the same one from Teikou???' You thought as you glanced at the red-head in front of you. 'Hm... he is the only one I know with red hair. Darn... the one person I know in this class and we're not even well acquainted.'

After introductions were over, the bell rang and another teacher stepped in.

Unlike the previous teacher, this one went straight to the point of what he expected of you.

The same process occurred with the next few teachers and eventually it became lunch time.

As you were stretching in your seat, you heard a familiar voice.

"Ah! Found you, Akashi!!!"

You turned around to see one of your best friends from elementary school.

"Ko-kun???" you said to yourself.

He must've heard it because he looked up and stared right back at you.

"Eh!? [F/N]-chan!?" He rushed to your desk and literally swept you off your feet. "It's been so long~~~ look at my kouhai all grown up now!!! You've gotten so much prettier! You should date me~~~" He continued to ramble on about silly things until you both hear someone clear his throat.

"Ahem. What are you doing, Kotaro?"

"This is the friend I kept on telling you about!!! The talented one who moved to Korea!"

"I see... ______, is it?"

"Hai."

"You seem rather familiar... do I know you from somewhere?"

"I believe we were in the same class third year at Teikou."

"Third year?"

Akashi thought back to his last year at Teikou and went through a mental checklist of all the people in his class. His gaze remained on you as he thought.

Akashi's POV
'Last year... long [H/C] hair... [E/C]... that necklace.' I looked at her desk and noticed empty music sheets sprawled around it as well as a book... 'The Art of War?'

Now that I thought about it, those items did remind me of someone in my class third year.

My thoughts drifted to the previous year when I ran into a timid girl in the library.

~Flashback~

"Ah! Sumimasen, Akashi-san. I didn't see you there," she said as she bowed.

I studied her for a moment before I said anything. "It's no problem."

She raised her head, picked up sheet music that had fallen from a book written by San Tzu and began to excuse herself; but before she could, I stopped her.

"Do I know you?"

She immediately halted in her tracks and faced back to look at me and laughed a bit. "I'm in your class~ My name is--"

"[Last Name] [First Name]."

~Flashback End~

"You were the girl I met..."

"At the library, right?"

"Correct."

"Nee~ Sei-chan~ Coach is looking for you~"

Third Person POV
"Nee~ Sei-chan~ Coach is looking for you~"

You looked up to find a rather... feminine looking guy.

"I see. It was nice meeting you, [F/N]," Akashi said.

"Noooo!!! Akashiiiiii," Kotaro whined. "Can [F/N] at least come with us???"

Akashi looked at you then back at him and sighed and just left.

"I guess that means I can take you?" Kotaro said confusedly. "Whatever. C'mon, [F/N]!!! Let's go~!"

He proceeded to grab your hand and drag you all the way to the gym.

"Wait a moment!!! Kotaro!!!"

"You don't have a say in it! Listen to your senpai, yeah?" He said with a wink.

You only sighed. And continued to follow him.

From that day on, Kotaro would come to get you and Akashi right at the start of lunch.

However, on one particular day, Akashi asked you to come to a few after-school practices. On the fourth practice, he came over to your spot in the bleachers as the first-string members continued practicing.

"[F/N]."

You looked up in acknowledgement.

"I want you to tell me what you think of their skill," he said.

You paused and thought for a moment.

"I don't really know what to say... after all, I'm not that familiar with basketball..."

"Nonsense. Kotaro has been teaching you hasn't he?"

"Eh!?"

He looked sternly at you and you took that as a sign to start speaking already.

"Each player's skill is exceptional, even those who are usually on the bench. Their skills as an individual are well-balanced, but can still be improved. As a team, there's a lack of height compared to others, but it's made up for in your offense and defense. Teamwork is also exceptional but there are still a few bumps which may or may not cause some problems in the future, especially with your upcoming match with Shuutoku and possibly Seirin if they make it."

"Seirin?" he questioned.

You nodded your head. "Their two new aces: Kuroko-san and Kagami Taiga. They're the most potential threats."

"How so?"

You looked at him unsurely but continued to speak. "Well... even though Kuroko-san is a lacking player, he still has a lot more room to grow. He has grown considerably with and during every match seeing as he's always put in a complex situation and always finds a way to overcome it. You can consider his growth and capability as an unknown factor in Seirin's play. With Seirin's effective strategy, teamwork, aces and Kuroko's unknown factor, they could be a real threat if not dealt with wisely."

He looked at you and smirked. "What do you think, coach?" He said as he glanced behind you.

You turned around and couch Coach Shirogane staring at you with a look... of approval???

"Very well," he answered Akashi.

"[F/N]. You are to become our manager," Akashi commanded.

You gave him a blank face and sighed. "I have no choice in this, do I?"

"Not really."

"Damn..."

"Yayyyy!!!!! [F/N]-chan and I can spend more time together from now on!!!!!" Kotaro cheered as he rushed over to you and spun you around in circles.

It was at this moment you realized the whole first-string heard the whole conversation you had with Akashi.

Akashi looked back at the first-string members and glared. "Get back to practice."

And so they did.

And again, as time passed, you became closer with the red-headed male. With you being the manager and him being the captain, you spent more time with him than you did with Kotaro and that in itself was something.

Little did you know that this was the start of a blossoming relationship.

What's up my peoples??? It's been a very long while. I've been trying to find time to write but I just can't seem to get any breaks whatsoever. This story was a product of my boredom in Japanese class seeing as my teacher wasn't even there.
I know no one requested this fanfic but I just felt like doing something for me. A lot of the requests I got weren't listed in the description but are on my "to watch" list so I've been trying to make time to watch anime too. The rest of the requests were of anime I've finished many many moons ago so I'm trying to get caught up with that.
I know this is one hell of an author's note but I felt the need to explain my long absence from writing.
Anyways, thanks for reading and for all your support~!
Be sure to check for the next author's note for more info about my return~~~
