Ami X Shy! Fem! Reader (Toradora!!) {Valentines Day Special}

Never thought I would be writing an x reader for Toradora!! but here we are lmao- I know it's already Valentines Day but I'm hoping that I can get this but before any times zones changes to another day lol, anyway this is a request but I do indeed have free range!

"Ami!" Minori shouts as she runs through the hallway at lighting speed. "Happy Valentines Day!" She grins, holding out a box of chocolate for her.

Ami looks slightly disgusted but takes it anyway. "Thank you, though I didn't get anything for you. I've decided to stop giving out chocolate. We are third years after all, we can stop acting like children now."

"That's okay! This year everyone I know kinda well is getting something." Minori replies, completely ignoring that last sentence.

The door to their shared classroom opens up, Kitamura and Ryuji stepping out.

"Jeez dude you've only been at school for five minutes and you're already getting a box..." Ryuji mumbles, "how do you even manage that?"

"Relax it's obligatory chocolate from Ami. She and her family go in every year to give me and my family one." Kitamura replies as they walk to the vending machines.

"Well anyway let's just go inside now." Ami sighs, stepping into the classroom. Minori follows behind her.

Just as class is about to begin, (Y/n) slips in the door and sits next to Ami. Thanks to the seating chart that is.

"Good morning." Ami greets (Y/n) as the teacher walks in and tells everyone to settle down.

"Good morning." (Y/n) greets back as she pulls out her notebook and pencil case.

Ami glances at her a little too long before turning her attention back to whatever the teacher was explaining. It didn't really concern the two girls as they were both thinking about the box of chocolates hidden in their bags.

Lunch time was there in a blink of an eye, "hey (Y/n)!" Minori grins and present a box of chocolate. "Here you go!"

"Thank you very much." She replies and takes it. "I'm so sorry I didn't get you anything..." She looks down at the box, eye softened, looking guilty for excepting it.

"No no," Minori waves her arms, "I'm only doing this because it's our last year of high school. So I made it my personal mission to give everyone I kind of know a box- wait is the a box Ami?!" Minori interrupts herself point at the smallest hint of a red ribbon in her bag. "Or rather a bag of home made chocolates!?"

"Would you relax," Ami replies, standing up. "I picked up a bag on the way over here to send to my parents. What's wrong with that?"

"Well giving your parents chocolate doesn't really count as for not getting anyone anything..." Kitamura jumps in, trying to smooth of the situation as Ami walks out of the classroom.

(Y/n) shrugs off what happened and opens up her lunch, that whole thing didn't involve her anyway. She then goes into her bag and realizes she didn't bring anything to drink. She mentally sighs and goes to grab something from the vending machine.

She sees Ami sitting between the vending machines, like she does something during lunch, and smiles at her in a polite way. Ami smiles softly back, taking a sip of her drink. "Hey..." Ami starts off as (Y/n) reaches down to pick up her drink. "Could you wait for me in the classroom after school's out?"

"Yeah sure..." (Y/n) replies, wondering what Ami wants. She doesn't ask any questions and walks back to the classroom.

School ends and (Y/n) begins to do her homework while she waits for everyone else to clear out of the classroom. Ami had left as soon as the bell rang, so she must not be wanted to be scene waiting.

Once the final person leaves, Ami walks in a few minutes later to find (Y/n) standing in front of the window. She looks at her for a moment before opening the classroom door. (Y/n) instantly turns around to see Ami holding a bag of chocolate.

"Look don't get your hopes up, okay? I made it myself super late last night so it's probably not good but I want to have it anyway. And they say that it's always better when it's homemade so..." She trails off looking up to see (Y/n) giggle.

"I had the same idea." She replies, going into her bag and holding out a bag. "I was too nervous to tell you with everyone else around. So, I'm uh, glad you said something to me..."

They exchange gifs and Ami looks straight into (Y/n)'s eyes. "I'll be blunt here, I like you (Y/n).  I have for a while now, will you please go out with me?"

(Y/n)'s brain went into rest mode and her face turned bright red. She blinks a few times, thinking that surly this was an allusion but alas it wasn't.

She closes her eyes real tight and grabs Ami's hand, she couldn't of the word 'yes' at this time. It was as if it had left her vocabulary. So she nods her hand instead, slightly squeezing Ami's hand.

Ami gets the message that this is her way of saying 'yes' and chuckles. "You're too cute." And laughs a little as (Y/n)'s face begins to heat up even more.

----

"I'm back! Even though I don't actually live here!" Ami shouts into her now long term girlfriends apartment. It's been five years since that confession at in their high school classroom but is Valentines Day yet again.

"Welcome back!" (Y/n) yells from somewhere in the apartment. "You're always welcome here love." Ami smiles at her reply and steps further into the apartment.

(Y/n) emerges from the back room with a huge smile on her face. "Good to see you." She says and Ami walks over to her, giving her a quick kiss. "It's good to see you too." She replies, walking off into the kitchen for something to drink.

"We never made any plans for today you know, unless you thought of something last minute." Ami comments, "but then again I'm down with just watching something and going to sleep early." She chuckles.

"Oh come on now, we can still go on a date. But first you have to open your card." (Y/n) replies, standing at the opposite side of the counter, sliding the envelope to her girlfriend.

Ami smirks, "don't mind if I do. I'll even read it out loud."

This actually works out in (Y/n)'s favor as she holds up the card to completely block out her face. She couldn't see (Y/n) bend down on one knee. "Wait why did you sign it with 'what do you say, love?'" She looks down and her jaw drops.

Ami sees her once too shy girlfriend to do anything more than hold her hand in public when no one was around too proposing.

"Well love, what do you say? Will you marry me?" (Y/n) says with only a slight blush on her face.

This time around Ami's brain rests and her face goes into a deep red. She kneeled down on the floor, cups (Y/n)'s hands and nods her head over and over again. She starts crying and smiling, which makes (Y/n) start crying and smiling.

"I love you so much." Ami says as (Y/n) pulls her into a hug after slipping the ring on her finger. "I love you too."

So this originally was going to be three small interactions but I made the first one too long and deiced to make the second interaction onto another one shot and finish with the third one. All you really missed is more interactions with them but I think it'll be okay sees how the reader is shy but that interaction calls for a more outgoing reader.

Small explanation:

1. I wanted to set the stage for everything and set up how Ami is kinda cold still, like how she still does certain things from the anime even though they are now third years.

2. Since the reader is shy and Ami is clearly not I went for a more "we've kinda talk but that's all in the background and the author shows this by having us greet each other in the morning" type thing. Like they know each other and have interacted off stage many times, kinda of thing.

3. I wanted the reader to be like "uno reverse, bitch" when she proposes lmao I'm sorry it's so late rn

I'm soooo tired, please excuse my lack of vocabulary in this one shot and if anything feels super unnatural I blame it on my sleepiness lmao

LOVE YOU GUYS
