Aoi sighed when she noticed the light inside Shinobu's room. For the past week, Shinobu had been staying up late for who knows what. Aoi had attempted to talk to her about it but Shinobu dismissed her concerns, simply saying that she was working on a more effective poison.

She quietly knocks on the door and waits for permission to enter.

"Come in."

Aoi walks in to find Shinobu looking over her notes.

"You're staying up late?"

"I am. It's easier to concentrate in the night."

"Right. So you're not staying up late to wait for a certain someone?"

If Aoi hadn't been paying attention, she wouldn't have noticed that Shinobu dropped her smile for a second.

"I told you that I'm working on this poison." Shinobu says with a smile as she holds up a small vial. "You're more than welcome to stay and supervise to see that I'm not laying."

"That's alright. Would you like me to bring you anything?"

"I'm quite alright. Thank you."

Aoi nods and bids her goodnight.

Finally alone, Shinobu turns her chair around to look around the window for any signs of your crow. It's been almost two weeks without a letter from you and she was worried. You've never made her wait for longer than a week to send her a letter when you were out on a mission.

"Any sign of (name of crow)"

"No. I haven't spotted her."

The crow answers her and then closes its eyes back again. Shinobu turns back around to her work and continues what she had been doing before she had been interrupted.

If it weren't for the fact that no one knew about your relationship, Shinobu would've been running to the entrance of the estate to greet you.

"(y/n)! You're back!"

Hearing your laugh, Shinobu's smile widens. There were times that she thought that she would never be able to hear it again and it was such a relief to be able to hear it again.

"I am! I brought what you all asked for" Shinobu arrives to find you handing the triples various candies from your bag. They hug you tightly, grateful that you had remembered to stop by the market. Aoi quietly thanks you as you return the bag of supplies that she had insisted for you to take. "I should be thanking you. I would've bled out if it weren't for the bandage you packed for me."

Aoi rolls her eyes when you show her the bandage covering your finger.

"Shut up. It's better to be safe than sorry. I'm glad you didn't have to use them."

"So am I....."

You trail off when you notice Shinobu standing a few feet ahead of you.

"Lady Kocho!"

You rapidly waved at her, making her laugh. As she makes her way over to you, the rest of the butterfly girls make themselves scarce to give the two of you privacy.

"(y/n), you were gone for so long."

At this point, Shinobu didn't care if anyone was watching as she wrapped her arms around you. She let her head rest on your chest when you returned the hug.

"I'm sorry, love. Things got a little sticky because of the new recruits not listening to instructions.  It took a while to get them all out safely and then finally take out the demon.

"Why didn't you tell me that you needed help? I could've helped you out."

"Because you're busy as a Hashira. I can't always depend on you to get me out of trouble. Sure, it would've taken less time to finish things but that's okay. I'm just glad that everyone is okay."

She looks up to face you, leaning in to give you a quick kiss.

"I wouldn't mind helping you out. I didn't have a mission."

"I know. Lets forget about the mission now. I'm a little tired and all I've been thinking is taking a bath and falling asleep with you in my arms."

"Can I join you in your bath?"

"I thought that was implied. It's been a while since we spent some time together and I missed you."

You say with a pout. She laughs and leans in to give longer kiss.

"I missed you too."

Aoi and the triplets laughed when they heard Shinobu let out a squeal when you suddenly carried her in your arms. It was weird to hear such sound from the Hashira.

They remained in their spot until they were sure neither of you could see them. It wasn't until then when they realized Kanao had joined them.

"Kanao! What are you doing here? Uh, we weren't staring or anything."

"I was curious and my coin landed on heads so I joined you. I did not know about Shinobu and (y/n)."

"Neither did we until now. I'm sure they'll tell us soon."

Aoi had been right. During breakfast, the two of you announced that you had been dating. While everyone already knew, they acted surprised so neither of you would ask questions as to how they found out.
