Nobara was upset. She couldn't believe that you were really leaving her after promising her that you wouldn't leave her.

"Seriously? You're leaving? What happened to 'I promise that I'll stick by your side. I'm not going to leave you'? Where you lying?"

You knew Nobara's anger wasn't real, she was upset. You didn't want to leave her but you really didn't have a choice. It killed you that you were leaving her despite the promise that you had made.

"I'm sorry Nobara but I don't have a choice. You know that I would've stayed if I could."

Nobara turned to the direction of her house and started walking away.

"Whatever. It's not like I care anyways. Have fun in Kyoto."

"Wait Nobara, I don't want to end things like this."

You gently took her hand to stop her but she immediately pulled it away. The glare she gave you made you take a step back. You didn't want to make things worse.

"You ended things the moment that you decided to go to Kyoto. I don't have anything else to tell you, (y/n)."

You don't bother to follow after her as she walks away. Nobara had made it clear to you that there was nothing you could do or say to fix things.

"Ow Mai! Let go!"

"I'll let go when you stop fidgeting and tell us why you're so nervous. It's been months since I've seen you and we need you at the top of our game."

You tried to take her hand off of your ear but she wouldn't budge. Wanting for the pain to end, you told her the truth.

"My ex goes to Tokyo. We didn't exactly end things in good terms. I'm a little afraid of what she'll do when she sees me."

Mai rolls her eyes at your excuse. It was honestly embarrassing that you were afraid of an ex. You had taken down several special grades, dealing with an ex should be a piece of cake to you.

"Seriously? And I had so much respect for you. I'm sure you'll be able to handle her."

The minute that Nobara saw you among the group of Kyoto students, she broke off from the rest and made her way towards you.

"I didn't expect for you to show up but I'm glad you did." She laughs when she sees your smile. "That way you can witness how we crush you and your team."

Your smile falls at her words. You should've known better. Of course, Nobara wasn't going to be happy to see you after how you left things.

You stood still with your hands raised up to show Nobara that you weren't going to fight her. You simply wanted to talk and let her know what was going on.

"I just want to talk Nobara."

"Talk? What else is there to talk about. You said everything you wanted to say." You jump out of the way as she throws yet another nail your way. You think you had successfully dodged it but it soon explodes, knocking you on your back. Nobara makes her way over to you, placing a foot on your chest to keep you down. "What you can tell me is what your school is planning with Yuji?"

You tried to stand up to but she just pressed harder to show you that she wanted you to stay down.

"Our principal told us to kill him. I was trying to tell you that but you didn't want to talk to me."

"You can't blame for not wanting to hear the shit that was going to come out of your mouth. I don't want any of your excuses. You're going to stay here until the game is over."

"And if I don't? You seriously can't expect for me to stay here when the event is still going on."

"I may or may not give you a chance to talk to me"

She actually smiles when she sees the resigned look in your eyes.

"I'll stay then."

Nobara doesn't spare you another glance as she goes out to join the others in the fight. With you gone, the fight was now evenly matched.

After seeing a dome suddenly appear overhead, you stood up from your spot and rushed to find someone. It wasn't part of the event and you knew that it meant trouble.

"Mai, what's going on? What happened?"

"A special grade broke in. The event is cancelled."

"Where's everyone?"

"Scattered around the forest. If you hurry, you might be able to save your ex. I knocked her out before the special grade appeared."

"Mai!"

"What?"

You don't say anything as you followed the trail that Mai had taken. You sigh in relief when you finally come across Nobara after a few minutes. Quickly gathering her in your arms, you rush off to the edge of the dome.

Nobara woke up to find you protectively standing in front of her. She stands up to join the fight but he soon leaves before either of you could strike.

"I explicitly remembered telling you to stay put."

"Nobara! I...there was an attack."

"I gathered. Are you okay?"

"I'm fine. Are you okay? I looked for any visible injuries but there wasn't anything. Does your head hurt?"

Nobara shock her head and began to walk straight.

"I'm fine. We should probably go search for the others." You nod and follow after her as she starts to walk. "Thanks for keeping me safe. I guess that I could at least give you a chance to talk." You started to talk but she covered your mouth with her hand. "Not now. I just want some peace. My head is killing me but I promise you that we'll talk before the next event."

You just nodded, making her let go of you to continue walking. A smile formed at the thought of possibly fixing things with Nobara. You missed her and hoped that she gave you a chance to fix things.
