TW: Death 

(High-Rise Invasion)

Things were tense after the truth was revealed. Mayu had immediately forgiven Yuri but not you. You completely understood her anger but that didn't mean you weren't hurting. You wanted to make things right but it was difficult with Yuri always stopping you from doing so. 

"She needs time, (y/n)."

"Please, Yuri. I just want to talk to make things right."

Yuri turned around to look at Mayu as she slept and then turned back to face you. 

"She might look angry but she's hurting (y/n). I don't know if you were conscious when you were an Angel but Mayu would often cry when she thought I wasn't awake. It killed her to see someone she cares about in the state you were in."

Your guilt grew as you heard this. Even after what you had done, Mayu still cared for you. You were never good enough for her nor will you ever be. 

"Right. I'll give her space."

Yuri gives you a small smile as she stands up. 

"I know she'll come around. You know how stubborn Mayu is."

You nod, returning the smile. You wanted to hate Yuri but you couldn't. Yuri was perfect for Mayu. It pained you to see her happy with someone else but it was nice to see her smiling again. Your last memory with her had been of her crying in the middle of your shared apartment.

The three of you had been ambushed. You weren't sure where the angel had come from but he was fast. He was able to handle the three of you without breaking a sweat. If you didn't do something soon, he could eventually kill one of you. 

As you're thrown to the ground, you quickly form a plan in your mind. You wait until Mayu is tossed aside to tackle him from the roof as he fought Yuri. The two of you were quickly falling down the building. He attempted to grab onto the building to stop his fall but you refused to let him go. You could hear Mayu screaming at you but you couldn't make out her words. All you could focus was on keeping your arms tightly around his torso while thinking about the happy memories you shared with Mayu.

Yuri had to use all her strength to hold back Mayu as she leaned in as far as she could on the railing. It was heartbreaking to hear Mayu's scream for you. 

"She's still alive! We can save her! We need to find a way down!"

Mayu ran to your bags, trying to find anything to climb down the building to reach you. As Mayu searched for a means to rescue you, Yuri leaned over the rails to look at the aftermath of your falls. She nearly threw up at the sight of it. She couldn't imagine the kind of pain you were in. There was no way you were going to live with the injuries you sustained. You were going to die a slow and painful death. 

"Mayu...Mayu!"

Finally hearing Yuri call her name, Mayu stops running around. 

"What? I need to safe her..."

"We can't save her Mayu! We can't go down there. We can't rescue her. Even if we could, there's no way we could heal her from her injuries."

"Don't say that! We can save her!"

Yuri rushed to Mayu, cupping her cheeks and forcing her to look at her. 

"We need to end her suffering Mayu. She's going to die a slow and painful death if we don't do anything."

Mayu closed her eyes as she cried. 

"No..No..No! We need to save her."

Yuri had to hold Mayu up as she lost the strength in her legs. 

"She saved us, Mayu. Now it's our turn to help her."

A shot is hear, making the two of them look around to where it had been fired from. Across the building, they spotted Sniper Mask as he tipped his hat to them. 

Mayu ran to the side of the building, throwing up as she actually saw the aftermath of the fall. Yuri made her way over to her, holding her as she cried for you.
