"I'm trying to talk to you, Matsuri. Can you just focus on me?"

Matsuri sighted and ignored the screen in front of her to look at you. She knew what you were going to tell her and what the outcome of what your talk was going to be.

"You have my attention. What did you want to talk about?"

"Your 'jobs' Matsuri. You need to stop doing them. Do you have any idea of how dangerous they are?"

"I know the risks. I know what I got myself into. You don't have to worry about me. I've taken every precautions to take care of myself."

"That's not what I mean.."

"But you just said that they were dangerous and I'm telling you that I've done everything I could to keep myself safe. What more do you want?"

"For you to quit them!"

"Why would I do that? Do you have any idea how much money I earn from those perverts? It's how I pay for your things. Don't you like it when I pay for your things?"

"Not if that means you're selling yourself!"

Matsuri just laughs and turns back to face the screen.

"I'm not selling myself. That's ridiculous. I told you that I'm keeping myself safe. If you're going to continue arguing about this then just leave. I want to have fun and you're bringing my mood down."

"Matsuri..."

"Leave if you're going to bring it up again."

"Fine!"

You grabbed your things in a hurry and left her alone in the room.

Matsuri has been ignoring you since that night and you didn't know what to do. When Yuzu and Mai invited you to eat lunch with them, you jumped at the chance in hopes that they could help you out.

The two of them patiently waited for you to tell them what was going on. After almost 20 minutes of keeping quiet, Yuzu finally asks you.

"..It's just... I don't know how to say this. Matsuri and I got into a fight."

"What why? The two of you are like two peas in a pod. What happened?"

You weren't sure if it was a good idea to bring up the real reason as to why the two of you fought so you came up with a hypothetical situation.

"Her spending habits are outrageous and I'm concerned that she's spending money recklessly. I tried to talk to her about stopping but she shut me down and basically told me to mind my business."

Mai looked at you curiously. Not believing that this was about Matsuri's spending habits.

"This is about her jobs, isn't it?"

She finally says after hearing you and Yuzu go back and forth on ideas. Yuzu looks to Mai and then you. She had genuinely believed the money excuse because Matsuri had promised to stop doing it after what happened with Mai.

"She's still doing it?"

"...yes. I tried talking to her about it but she just basically blew me off. She won't answer any of my calls."

"How about I set up a meeting with her and you show up instead. That way she has no choice but to talk to you."

"You'll do that for me?"

"Of course! If you need reinforcements, we'll be around. If we got her to stop once, we'll get her to stop again."

Matsuri rolled her eyes when she saw you approaching the table. Leave it to Yuzu to meddle in something that had nothing to do with her.

"I suggest you turn back around if you're here to bother me again about my jobs."

You ignored her as you took a seat in front of you.

"I'm not leaving until you see that what you're doing is not a good thing. I know you said that you're taking every precaution to keep yourself safe but it's still not enough. The world is a..."

"Why do you even care about what I do? You were more than happy with letting me pay for everything."

"I tried to pay but you wouldn't let me! I even offered to pay you back but you again didn't let me and I care because you're my friend Matsuri. I don't want you to be doing things like this."

"There's nothing wrong with what I do."

"Yes there is! You're talking to me that are three times your age! They're perverts and you're fulfilling their sick fantasies."

She shrugs her shoulders, giving you a small smile.

"but it's fun to see how much those perverts are willing to pay for my content. You can't blame me for wanting to take advantage of the situation."

"Matsuri, please.."

"Oh, I get it. You're jealous."

"What?!"

"Yeah. It all makes sense. I've seen the way you look at me when you learned about my jobs. You're not fooling anyone, (y/n)."

You looked at her way before you learned about her jobs. You thought you had been sneaky with your glances but you were wrong.

"N..no. I'm no.."

"It's okay, (y/n). All you had to do is ask. Lets go to my place."

You turned bright red at the implications of what she was saying. You couldn't just let her continue to think that's what you were after.

"No! I'm not jealous, Matsuri. I care about you. I care so much about you and I don't want you destroying your life like this."

"If I didn't know any better, it almost sounds like you might be in love with me." Matsuri's smile drops when you look away from her. She could deal with anything but this. "I'm right, aren't I?"

There was no point in hiding it. The truth was out.

"Yes. I do love you, Matsuri."

"Then you're an idiot for loving me. Haven't you learned anything since we became friends? I don't do relationships. I don't do love. I barely do friendships."

"Matsuri, I don't need you to love me back...."

"Oh good. Because I would never love someone like you. I barely tolerated you as a friend. Maybe it's best if we cut our loses here. Save me the trouble later on." The more she spoke, the more your heart broke. You had to look down so she wouldn't see you cry. "I'm leaving. It's embarrassing to be with you right now. You're a grown ass woman, don't you know better than to cry in public?"

She scoffs and heads out of the both, leaving you alone.

Matsuri felt her heart break as she watched you through the window. Yuzu and Mai were comforting you as you cried to them about what happened. She hated herself for what she had done but it was only for the best. You didn't need someone like her in your life, you deserved better.
