"Oh come on, (y/n). I thought you would be more excited to have me around?"

You remained quiet as you continued to text someone on the phone.

"See Itadori, even your cousin thinks you're annoying."

The two of them argue back and forth until you yell at them to stop.

"That's enough! This is serious. If the two of you can't stop playing around, I'm not bringing you along on the mission."

Both of them apologize and remain quiet the rest of the way.

'I'm just worried, Maki. I know that he's a vessel for Sukuna but I still think it's too soon.'

'I know but he'll be fine. Gojo might be an idiot but he's a good teacher. If he says that your cousin will be fine then he'll be fine.'

'I guess you're right. I should go. We're arriving.'

'Alright. Be careful. I love you.'

'I love you too.'

You put your phone away and join the others.

It didn't take long for things to go south when you entered the detention center. The entrance was sealed and Nobara disappeared all in a matter of minutes.

"Dammit! This is why I told Gojo that you weren't ready. If only he had listened to me....." You froze when you felt a presence. "Megumi! Yuji!"

Using your technique, you barely had enough time to push them away as the curse attacked. As soon as your eyes landed on it, you knew it was a special grade. You were only a second-year student, you weren't sure if you could take on a special grade on your own but you were sure as hell going to try. You weren't going to stand by and let anything happen to the first years.

"We can handle this!"

"No, Yuji! You and Megumi go search for Nobara. I can handle this!"

"Are you crazy?! I'm not leaving you on your own with that thing!" You turned to Megumi, knowing Yuji wouldn't listen to reason. "Take him and search for Nobara!" Using the rubble that had fallen, you opened up a hole for them to pass through. "Go!"

Megumi grabs Yuji's arm and drags his down the hall.

Megumi and Yuji had managed to find Nobara. They all made it to the entrance but Yuji stopped.

"I have to go back. I need to help her out."

"Are you crazy? Your cousin is scary! She's going to kill you if you go back."

"That's a risk that I'm willing to take."

He takes off down the hallway again before they could stop him.

"Yuji really is an idiot."

Nobara mutters to herself.

Yuji arrived to find you knocked out on the ground, seconds away from being killed.

"Get away from her!!!"

It all becomes a blur with Sukuna taking over.

Megumi eyes widen when he sees Sukuna still in possession of Yuji's body and holding on to you by your foot. He tosses you over to him.

"It seems that he's having trouble switching back. Now the real fun begins." He smile widely as he digs his hand into his chest and pulls out his heart. "I can do whatever I want now. He switched back and he dies."

Sukuna attacks, leaving Megumi no choice but to fight back.

You slowly wake up to find Megumi and Yuji a few feet. Megumi was glowing with cursed energy before it disappeared.

"Yuji?"

Standing up, you made your way over to the two of them. You were in pain but you needed to make sure that they were okay.

"I never regretted saving you."

"It took you so long to say it." He coughs, spilling some blood on Megumi. "Make sure they're safe. Live a long life."

"Yuji!"

You scream his name as you watch him fall. Megumi just watches as you attempt to save him but he knew there was no point. Yuji's heart was gone.

You couldn't stop crying, since you returned. Maki had come back to the academy when she heard what happened. Neither of you said of word, simply choosing to just hold each other. Maki knew you felt responsible for what happened and no matter what she would say, you weren't going to listen. For now, she was going to continue holding you.
