(Girls & Panzer)

AN: Never seen the anime or read the manga so everything might be wrong.

You quickly turn around when she catches you staring. You hadn't meant to stare for so long but she was just so pretty. The other girl raises her eyebrow in curiosity when you look away. She was used to the stares after competing for so long but something about you caught her eye. She hoped that you would turn around to face her again but you never did.

It was difficult to concentrate when you knew that Maho was staring.

"(y/n)! Come on! We need to come up with a strategy. We're going to get our asses handed to us if we don't think of something."

"Right. Uh, just give me a second."

They all stare at you, waiting for a new strategy but nothing came to mind. Taking pity on you, your second in command takes the lead. She knew exactly why it was difficult for you to concentrate.

"To your positions. We got this. We'll be there in a few minutes."

The rest of the team takes off to the tank as your friend stays to talk to you.

"You need to clear your head and forget about Maho. We're going to lose if you're head is not 100% in the competition. Don't you want to impress her. I'm sure she'll be impressed if you manage to beat her."

"I'm sorry. I just didn't think she would be so pretty or the fact that I would ever compete in the same competition."

"Well she's not going to give you the time of day if we don't land at least in the top 3. Lets go."

You sigh, knowing that your friend was right. Maho was dedicated to the sport and if you even wanted to get noticed, you needed to impress her.

"You're right. Lets do this."

It was a close call throughout the match. Following your friends plan, your team kept switching between 2nd and 3rd but never reached 1st. Once Maho's team got 1st place, they made sure to keep it. As the match came to an end, you remained in 2nd with no chance of reaching 1st place. Maho's team had too many points and even if you pushed your team to give it their all, it still wouldn't be enough to reach them. The game is eventually called with you remaining in 2nd place.

"That was impressive. Your team did good."

"Oh...uh, thank you!"

You hadn't expected for her to come up and talk to you. Much less compliment your team.

"I'd love to pick your brain over dinner. Are you free tomorrow?"

"I'd let you pick my brain....I mean I'd love to join you for dinner. I'm free tomorrow."

Maho smiles, amused about your reaction.

"Cute. Here's my number. Text me your address and I'll pick you up."

She heads back to her team as you head back to yours.

"So what did she want?"

"She asked me out."

"See! I told you that you had to impress her! You owe me for helping you out."

You roll your eyes as the two of you walk off the field.

"Whatever. Now you have to help me figure out what to wear tomorrow."

"You didn't even have to ask. I was going to invite myself over."
