"She's not exactly innocent. Her alibi isn't solid. She had plenty of time to get to the garden and commit the murder within the time frame."

You couldn't believe what you were hearing. You thought you were hearing things as you heard Kyoko accuse you of being the murderer. Byakuya kept defending you but Kyoko continued to prove him wrong. The longer that they continued to bicker back and front, the more impatient Monokuma continued to get.

"Alright! That's enough! The time for discussion is over and it's time for a vote! The choice is obvious so make your votes!"

He laughed when he noticed the panicked expressions on everyone.

"No! This isn't right. Neither of us committed the murder. This whole trial is a lie. Monokuma is trying to distract us from something."

The bear continued to laugh at your desperation. After you continued to plead, he eventually stoped and got serious.

"Enough chit-chat! Make your choice!"

You weren't sure why Kyoko was trying to pin the murder on your but it definitely hurt. However you trusted that she had a reason for it. You couldn't let her die.

"Wait! Kyoko wasn't...."

Your cut off by her as she tells everyone that you were the obvious choice to pick. How your alibis weren't solid and that you had more than enough time to kill the new girl. You wanted to defend yourself but you couldn't. It was heartbreaking to see her not even blink an eye as she sent you to your death.

"So then (y/n) must be the killer!"

They all come to a conclusion as Kyoko finishes her explanation. Aoi let out a quiet gasp as she covered her mouth.

"No..." You whispered. "It...it wasn't me. Please." Your pleas fell on deaf ears as Monokuma called for the voting. You looked to Kyoko for help but she refused to meet your eyes. Instead, she focused on the board that announced the guilty party. When you hear the familiar ding of the final results, you look up to the board. You feel like throwing up when you see your name flashing on it. "NO! I DIDN'T DO IT! YOU HAVE TO BELIEVE ME! KYOKO, PLEASE! I LOVE YOU!"

The bear's grin somehow grows wider after hearing your confession. He's laughing while pulling out the button.

"Uh oh. So much for happy endings. IT'S PUNISHMENT TIME!"

At the press of the button, you're suddenly grabbed and dragged to a room. You attempt to get out of the bear's hold but he's far stronger than he looks. He eventually ties you down on a desk and starts the machine to move you backwards. The bear was talking to you but your focus was on Kyoko. Even now, she couldn't even look at you. Even after she betrayed you, you still wanted to meet her eyes. You wanted to let her know that it was okay. Somehow had to die and it couldn't be her. She was the one who was going to solve the mystery of the school.

You clench your jaw and fists tightly as you get closer to the machine. The stomps grew louder and you just hoped that your death would be painless. At the last second, you close your eyes and expect for death to come.

But it never comes. The machine stops and a trap door opens. You fall through the hole until eventually landing on an old mattress. When you finally realize what had happened, you start to laugh. You had cheated death and been given a chance.

After everyone had gone to sleep, Kyoko grabbed her bag and made her way back to the room from earlier. She's careful to make her way through the room without making any noise until she eventually arrives at the hole you had disappeared into. She had no idea if you had survived the fall but she had hope. You had always told her to look at the positive rather than any of the negatives.

Taking a deep breath, she jumps down the hole.

You're startled awake by the sound of something falling on the nearby trash bags. Thinking it was Monokuma coming to finish the job, you grab the closest thing around you. You drop it when you realize Kyoko climbing down from the bags of trash she had fallen on.

"Yeah, don't help or anything."

"Kyoko!" You hurry to help her out and then pull her in for a tight hug when she's back on her feet. "I...I thought I was..."

Kyoko wraps her arms around as she quiets you.

"It's alright. You know I was never going to let anything happen to you. I'm sorry for not telling you about my plan. I needed for your reactions to be authentic."

You can't say anything as you're crying. Kyoko remains quiet while she rubs her hand up and down your back to comfort you. You eventually pull back when your crying subsides.

"I know. I was just so hurt and confused about what was going on. You didn't even look like you cared when I had been voted guilty."

Kyoko takes a seat on a broken couch and pats the spot beside you to take a seat. She offers you food and water to which you greedily take.

"I also had to pretend. I had to play the part that I've been playing since the beginning so they would all think that I was betraying you. It's difficult to explain but trust that I did this because I knew it was the only way to beat the bear. I apologize for hurting you."

"Please just don't do it again. I don't think my heart can take it anymore."

She nods and then pulls out the key from her jacket.

"How about we get out of here?"

At the top of the hundreds of stairs, the two of you take a second to catch your breath.

"(y/n?)"

You turn to face her after take a sip of your water.

"Yeah? What is it?"

"I love you too."
