You/Isabella - Return

(The Promised Neverland)

Since the two of you had been caught in your attempt to escape the farm, Isabelle had no idea what they had done to you. Every spare second that she had from taking care of the kids, her mind always drifted off to you. She didn't know if you were even alive. Considering that you had been immediately taken out of the farm as well, Isabella had hope that they had also given you the choices that she was given. The only thing that was keeping her in literal hell was because she wanted to find out what happened to you. She worked her ass off to have the best farm and have excellent marks as a mama so the demons could trust her. Unfortunately, her excellent performance had been ruined by the fact that two kids had seen the real reason as to why they lived in farms.

"I was notified that you were having trouble with some of the kids. I've relayed the news to upper management."

"That is not necessary. I have it handled."

"This is not up for discussion. I'll let you know what upper management decided to do. Goodnight."

The call is finished and Isabella is left with unanswered questions. Her house has received excellent marks since she became a mama so she couldn't understand why they wouldn't let her handle it. There was no use losing any sleep because of it so she headed to bed early.

"I'm getting a sister to assist me with the house?"

"That is correct. The two of you will work together to make sure that there's no further problems with the kids. Upper management cannot risk losing such valuable merchandise. Do you understand?"

"I understand loud and clearly. I'll be waiting for her at the gate."

"Good. She'll be arriving shortly."

An hour later and Isabella was waiting for the sister at the gates. She had made sure that all the kids were asleep and locked the doors to keep anyone from leaving, she couldn't afford to have another mark in her folder. Several minutes after she arrives, the gates open as you step forward.

The two of you look at each other in shock. It had been close to twenty years since the two of you had last seen each other. Afraid that it was all just a dream,  you pinched yourself. Isabella laughed as she watched you. You hadn't changed a bit. She was relived to see that the school hadn't changed you, she just couldn't say the same thing about herself.

"This must be some kind of sick joke, isn't it."

Isabella's taken aback by your tone. It was cold, nothing like she could remember. Perhaps she had assumed things far too quickly. Maybe you had changed after all.

"What do you mean?"

"Did you have something to do with this? Why am I here out of all the farms? Why put me with you after all these years?"

"I know the same amount of information as you. I let Grandmother know about what was happening and she said the upper management would send a sister to assist me with the kids."

Isabella had changed too and you couldn't tell if she was being honest anymore.

"Alright. Lets get to the farm. We wouldn't want someone sneaking out and finding us here."

"This will be your room. If you need anything, my room is down the hall. Goodnight."

Isabella starts to head out but stops when you start talking.

"I always knew that you were alive. I never gave up hope. It's why I put up with all this. Why I watched so many kids die." She closes the door behind her and makes her way to take a seat besides you. Isabella had become numb to it all but you hadn't. Your heart broke every time you lied to a kid about how they were going to a better place but you didn't regret it. You performed your job well as a sister all so you could one day return to Isabella and it worked. "Does it make me a bad person if I don't regret not helping them, Isabella?"

Isabella's heart break at the sight of your tears. She wipes away your tears and pulls you in for a hug.

"No. It doesn't. There's nothing we could've done to help them. All we can do to help these kids is to give them a good life before they're taken away."

You pull back from the hug to look at her.

"You're right. There's nothing we could do. We tried and failed. I wouldn't wish this on anybody but at least we're together now."

As the two of you kissed again for the first time in years, Isabella soon realized why you had been assigned to her farm. As long as the two of you were obedient, they were going to allow you to remain with her. If that was the case, she was going to do anything she could to continue delivering high-quality products so that you'll remain by her side.
