Chapter Fifteen

Aonung helped Tuk and Ronal off their rides, setting them down on the familiar sand.
He looked around, smiling as his eyes skimmed his home.

They were gone for almost three months. It was nice to be back home.

He turned his head as Neteyam stumbled from his Ikran, running to a close tree and leaning on it.
He looked to the others, seeing worry cross everyone's faces.

Neteyam had been riding his Ikran since he was ten. Not once, had he ever been nauseous after a flight. Even on his journey to the reef, and his journey back to the forest. Never. Not even slightly.

He jogged over, handing Tuk to his sister.
The others followed behind him, looking around him to see Neteyam wiping his mouth and standing up.

Aonung rubbed his arm, his eyes narrowed.
"Are you okay, Teyam?"

Neteyam chuckled, looking down and rubbing his stomach.
"Yeah, I guess the baby didn't like the flight."

Aonung nodded, before tensing. Eyes wide as he looked back to the others.
Ronal and Netiryi both clapped, laughing as they hugged their mates.
Lo'ak shouted, hugging Kiri while Rotxo hugged Tsireya and Tuk.

He looked back to Neteyam, looking down to his stomach.
"Baby? You're-"

Neteyam smiled, nodding as he took a step closer to Aonung.
"I am. I found out right before we left."

Aonung smiled, wrapping his arms around Neteyam and lifting him in the air.
He set him back down so the others could hug him as well.

Tsireya walked back to Lo'ak, blushing as he wrapped his arms around her.
"How far along are you?"

Neteyam smiled, shaking his head.
"Four weeks."

Tsireya clicked her tongue, shaking her head.
"Too bad. I wanted mine to be older than yours."

Everyone stilled as Tsireya and Neteyam shared a knowing smile.
She turned in Lo'ak's arms, wrapping around his neck.
"He isn't the only one who got checked before leaving."

Lo'ak smiled, wrapping his arms around her and spinning her.
The two families exchanged a series of hugs, smiles and laughter echoing across the reef.

They weren't expecting one baby, they were expecting two.

Neteyam smiled as he walked behind Aonung, Tuk running around their hut.
Aonung had a pout, his hands under his chin.

Neteyam set his hand on his shoulder as he walked beside him, his other hand resting over his stomach.
"What is it, Aon?"

Aonung sighed, looking up to Neteyam.
"My father talked to me about our child's future mate.'

Neteyam laughed, shaking his head at Aonung's pout.
Aonung crossed his arms, turning towards him.
"Why can't they just be single?"

Neteyam shook his head, setting his hands on Aonung's chest.
"My love, it is not that simple. Although, we needn't worry about that for a long time. I'm only four months, we still have eight months to go."

Aonung smiled, leaning forward and kissing Neteyam's stomach.
"Until we meet our bundle of joy."

Neteyam smiled, leaning down and giving a quick kiss before turning to Tuk.
"Tuk, come, it's time for diving lessons."

Tuk smiled, giving Aonung a hug before taking Neteyam's hand. Walking towards the beach.

Neteyam laughed as Ronal helped Tsireya sit down, handing her a knife and some herbs.
Doing the same to Neteyam as he sat down carefully.

Neteyam was nine months, leaving three more to go. While Tsireya is close to the end of her eighth month.
"Getting harder to sit on your own?"

Tsireya laughed as she chopping the herbs, handing them to Neteyam to coat the vegetables.
"Sometimes. Lo'ak has gone crazy. He won't let me sleep alone. He's worried something could happen."

Neteyam smiled, his hands carefully grabbing the herb and paste Ronal prepared before coating the vegetable.
"Aonung is the same way. I'm surprised he isn't here now."

Tsireya nodded, tilting her head as she prepared the next batch of herbs.
"But with you, he is right to worry. The last pregnancy didn't end well. He just wants to ensure this one has a different fate."

Neteyam smiled, handing the prepared vegetables to Ronal. Carefully wiping his hands before setting a hand over his stomach.
"That is true. Honestly, I'm the same way. I wake up most days in a cold sweat from nightmares. But, they are only dreams. So I tell myself."

Tsireya smiled, standing as Neteyam held out a hand to her. Letting her use him to lean on.
She squeezed his hand, leaving to find the families.

Neteyam smiled as Aonung held conversations with each member of his clan, thanking them.

He turned as Kiri sat beside him, carefully hanging him a cup of water.
"Thank you."

Kiri nodded, leaning on the table and crossing her arms.
"This is a good day, yeah? Efio came to give you a report, Aonung was made Olo'eyktan, it has went well."

Neteyam smiled, sighing as he felt a sharp kick in his ribs.
"It has."

Kiri smiled, looking down to his grown stomach.
"The baby moving around today?"

Neteyam chuckled, leaning his head back as he let out a breath.
"Yes, alot. I swear, it's using all of it's limbs."

Kiri furrowed her eyebrows, looking up at him once again.
"What do you mean?"

Neteyam sighed, smiling as Aonung made his way over to them.
"I feel two kicks at once. But usually close in distance."

Aonung wrapped his arms around Neteyam's waist, a hand sitting on his stomach.
"I'm sure it's because you're closer to being due."

Neteyam nodded, leaning his head against Aonung's.
Aonung laughed as he felt a kick against his hand.
"Calm down, little one."

Neteyam laughed, closing his eyes as the baby finally stilled.

Neteyam groaned as Aonung and Ronal sat down beside him.
Aonung carefully took his hand, hissing as he tightened his grip.

Ronal wiped his head, smiling as she looked at him.
"Remember, breath."

Neteyam nodded, closing his eyes to focus.
He lifted up as he let out a broken scream, his nails digging into his mates skin.

Aonung smiled, carefully placing his other hand on top of Neteyam's.
"You're doing a-"

Neteyam hissed, ignoring the healer as she walked in. Ronal moving to her side.
"We are never having another baby!"

Aonung smiled, nodding his head.
"If that's what you want."

The healer, Tsa'nura, carefully cleaned her hands, handing the bowl of water to Ronal.
"Are you ready, Neteyam?"

Neteyam nodded, leaning his head back down.
"Let's meet our baby."

°^°^°^°^°^°^

Lo'ak walked in with the others, smiling as he saw Neteyam and Aonung.
A tiny baby in Neteyams hands.

Netiryi walked forward, placing a hand on Ronal's shoulder in thanks.
"It's beautiful."

Neteyam looked up, smiling.
"Not just him."

Aonung chuckled, turning around to show another tiny baby.
"Twins."

Neytiri covered her mouth, smiling. She walked forward, placing a hand over the babies head.

Tsireya smiled, placing a hand over he own stomach.
"What are their names?"

Aonung smiled, rocking the baby in his hands.
"This is Zím'ia. She was born first."

Neteyam carefully let Tuk sit beside him, helping her hold her first nephew.
"This is Uh'trëdd."

Jake smiled, walking forward and placing a hand on Neteyam's shoulders. Nodding to him.

Tonowari chuckled, Fruno held on his hip, the boy smiling down at the scene. Not fully understanding, but sensing the mood.
"Zím'ia and Uh'trëdd. Perfect."

Neteyam smiled, looking up to Aonung.

Aonung carefully looked down, carefully holding his daughter close to his chest.

It was perfect. His only live returned to him, and now he had two beautiful children.

'My Angel's return.'
