"Grandpa, please haven't we studied enough for today" A-li tugged at Bai zhi's sleeves. He desperately wanted to wake up Bai Gungun who was still peacefully asleep inside the fox cave. He was probably still in a huff after last night. He didn't agree that jiujiu did anything wrong by cheating on the long match and spending all her money on the bet on who would marry his father. For Bai Gungun, anyone who knew anything about anything would conclude that his father would only marry jiujiu. How foolish other people were to even think otherwise. Jiujiu was the sweetest, the most beautiful and cooked amazing food to boot. His father would be an idiot not to marry her, which surely he was not. And jiujiu would be an idiot not to reap all that gold, which she was clearly not.

Well everything could be resolved while fishing so he had requested Migu to prepare a boat and supplies. Only grandpa wasn't about to let him leave anytime soon. Guess he might've to postpone this plan and make do with kites instead, that tiny fox was probably going to sleep till late afternoon. "Grandpa I am hungry" he grumbled. He complained taking out the master strategy in his quiver. Grandpa surely wouldn't want to be scolded by grandma for making him study on an empty stomach. "Alright, go but I want you back here after you've had your lunch, and mind you don't run off with that nephew of yours." Bai zhi warned him. A-li sneaked past Migu who was barely awake keeping watch outside Gungun's room.

"Fen..." he squealed with surprise when he saw Fengjiu in the room, who immediately clamped down his mouth with her palms. She had been applying Mufurong ointment to Donghua's hands while he was catching up on sleep next to Bai Gungun. "Fengjiu jiejie" he whispered cleaning his face with a handkerchief, "you are here! I missed playing with you. Let's wake up Gungun, we'll fly kites." She agreed and tried to wake Gungun but he snuggled into Donghua's arms and waking him up was impossible without waking her tired husband. Dijun was low on cultivation and would have gone in seclusion already but for this overdue celebration and honeymoon. They had decided that he would go into seclusion every year for four or five months so that he did not miss Gungun growing up and he could hardly bear to be separated from his Xiaobai for that long. She too dreaded the upcoming months when she would be without him presiding over her duties as qingqiu's female monarch. She had already evaded her responsibilities for far too long and Gungun was too young and needed her or else she too would have joined him.

How adorable and at peace they were she smiled lovingly at the slumbering duo. "Let's go to the fair and get some toys, then we will fly kites, I will also get you tomatoes on sticks." She disguised herself and A-li. Bai Gungun who was pretending to be asleep promptly woke up on hearing of the visit to the fair. He shifted to his original form and padded quietly after them intending to surprise them. Fengjiu and A-li bought new kites, slingshots, a pair of crickets and a cuju ball. Bai Gungun was very satisfied with jiujiu's purchases, though he hoped that she would also buy him a bow and arrow and something yummy to eat. He was looking for an opportunity to sneak up on her but she kept on moving quickly from shop to shop.

After purchasing so much at the fair, a famished A-li noticed a vendor selling egg puffs. "Fengjiu jiejie would you like to have some egg puffs?" He asked her tugging at her sleeve. Fengjiu proceeded to buy three egg puffs. She passed one to A-li and then called out, " come come, I know you must be hungry and these egg puffs are exactly to your taste." A tiny silver haired figure emerged from the pile of silk being sold at the shop next door giving a scare to the old shopkeeper. He jumped down and ran to his mother. " you completely ruined my surprise jiujiu." He complained. Since the boy was well known as Qingqiu's crown prince, jiujiu must be their Queen. The crowd immediately paid their respects and the trio was forced to cut their visit short.

Fengjiu grabbed them and left for home. They had reached lake wangsheng when stuffing an egg puff in his mouth Gungun begged Fengjiu,"mother, mother I am tired, pick me, pick me." Fengjiu transferred the parcels to her other arm and offered him her hand, "Gungun mother is tired too, here take my arm, it's only a short distance home." Gungun pouted, "hmphh how unlucky I am to be a little immortal, mortal mothers always pick up their kids when they are tired." He complained but grabbed her proffered arm nonetheless.

They had just walked a few steps when the sky roared and turned pitch black. Bolts of lightening descended as Fengjiu shielded the two children. The Tiancang cage protected them but it couldn't move quickly with them, and they could still feel some pain when the bolts struck. Fengjiu figured that the bolts were directed at her. Catching a break, she moved out of the cage and pushed them aside along with it. Using her cultivation she protected herself as best as she could but she was hardly able to bear them due to her poor cultivation. A-li ran back home to get help and was met halfway by Dijun and the Fox emperor who were rushing to check what the ominous sound was.

They reached the scene to find Fengjiu lying down uninjured but unconscious while a terrified Gungun was standing next to her wielding the fan gifted to him by Mo Yuan. Steam rose from lake wangsheng and on its banks lay several dead fishes, octopuses and crabs. The forest surrounding them was engulfed in a blaze. Dijun rushed next to them as he and the fox emperor put out the fire and restored the lake. They carried Fengjiu and Gungun back to the fox cave to check on them. Zhe Yan came immediately on hearing about the incident. He fed them both medicinal elixirs to help them rest.

The next morning Fengjiu woke up with a start, something was tickling her and she could distinctly smell a pleasant smell in the room, was it sandalwood mixed with lush green grass. She screamed as she discovered a purple robed silver haired handsome man in her bed. Had she drunk so much last night that she brought a man home. Aargh she couldn't even recall going on a date with him. Her father would definitely beat her to a pulp, she wasn't allowed to date men yet. She was barely a 25000 year old fox. Fengjiu o fengjiu given that this man is exceptionally handsome, how could you sleep with him. You better hide, today even auntie cannot save you. She tried to move his arm imprisoning her waist when he opened his eyes, "where are you going Xiaobai, are you ok, you aren't feeling uncomfortable are you?" Fengjiu blushed, xiaobai sounds so good, hmm no one had ever called her that. "Mmhmm, but you must quickly go back, if my father discovers you in my bed he will beat us both." She whispered. "Silly fox, why would he beat a couple for sleeping in the same bed?" "Couple!!" She cried out in shock. Bai Gungun peeked out from under the blanket, "mother, mother don't shout, Gungun is sleeping." Completely baffled on being called mother by a little boy with hair as silver as the handsome man who called himself her husband, she ran outside screaming at the top of her lungs.
