Chapter 7 - Home (part two)

You are just like the wind.
Whose gentle breeze flowing through me
Carried away all my stubbornness,
Making me surrender to you little by little.
But you don't resemble the wind anymore.
With the rustle you stole everything I had.
Too bad, I walked right into your trap by myself,
So you also have nothing to be proud of.

Her fingers glided through his long silky silver mane as she laid on his naked back smoothening them. She parted them laying tiny kisses on his back and wide shoulders. "Mmm baby fox sleep a little more with me" he lazily said as he pulled her to his side. Kissing her softly on her collarbone, he imprisoned her in his arms and fell asleep again surrounded by her welcoming warmth, listening to her calming heartbeat.

Hmmm this new bed was so comfortable, she would ask Donghua to make another one for their bamboo cottage. How nice it was to have such a talented husband. She giggled happily. Last night he had surprised her with the enchanting hot spring that he had constructed adjacent to their bedroom. He had designed it so using natural formations that one felt as if one was in a lagoon amidst the mountains. He had specially decorated it for her with scented candles and red Phoenix lanterns....she blushed thinking of last night, ugh when will he wake up. Plus there was the matter of another surprise that was waiting for her...was it something like last night....oooo the ice, she would return the favour once he wakes up...he had once said he didn't know how to say nifty words..ha! He hardly needed to..He was truly craftier than any fox...her Dijun. She caressed his face in an attempt to wake him up again.

He chuckled and bit her breast startling her, "dreaming of me, xiaobai?" he goaded. She tried to move him so that she could straddle him but her strength was no match for his. "Let me move, Donghua" she requested. "Your husband is completely at your disposal dearest wife." He said nibbling her from her breasts to her lips gradually relaxing his hold. Grabbing his shoulders she pushed him down to lay on top. Sucking on a block of ice, she trailed a path downwards from his neck to his nipples down to his hard abs....

**Always**

She was dozing off on the daybed swing enjoying the ethereal melody of the guqin. Her raven black hair glistened in the sunlight against her jade like skin. True, her looks are unparalleled, but her beauty lies in her innocence...her lively childlike personality...her pure love...she always is so adorable yet unbelievably seductive at the same time. She opened her eyes as he felt his gaze upon her. "Why did you stop?that piece was so good." She asked. Getting up from the cushion he was sitting on, he approached the daybed. "It's your fault" he said lifting her up from the daybed in his arms as he plastered his lips to hers. "Why are you so beautiful, xiaobai" he whispered between kisses undoing the sash of her royal blue silk robe...

"Why are you upset" he asked looking at her gloomy expression. "I loved this outfit, only this morning you gifted me this, and now it is ruined." She complained. "Don't fret dear wife, I will get you more, this colour suits you. Come let's pick another from your closet." He suggested. This morning he had taken her to an adjacent room that had been designed specially as a dressing room for her. Several outfits designed by him for her were hanging there with several matching pairs of shoes, hairpins, combs, earrings, pendants and other jewellery that had been prepared by him during their long period of separation. Whenever he missed her a lot, which was always, he would prepare a gift for her, sometimes a piece of jewellery, sometimes a weapon, sometimes jewellery that could be turned into a weapon, anticipating her happiness when she would receive it. There was also a teakwood vanity where she could do her makeup, though she barely needed any. Indeed, he was rewarded amply for his efforts. An extremely happy xiaobai meant the sweetest xiaobai and an astronomical amount of favours to be claimed.

Dressed in baby pink robes she went out to the courtyard looking for him where she was greeted with yet another surprise. "Would you like to go for a ride?" he asked, helping her mount the majestic white horse when she nodded her head in agreement. "He is yours, I got him so that you can explore our home without tiring yourself out." he told her as he sat behind her holding her securely." Then let's go someplace new" she suggested excitedly. "Well why not" he agreed. "What would you like to call him?" he asked as they rode through the bamboo forest. "I was thinking, I will let Gungun name him. He has always wanted learn horse riding. When we lived in the mortal world, he was so jealous of warriors riding off on their warhorses. And then he met you." She caressed his hand that was encircling her waist. "Bai zhi must be having fun" Dijun chuckled at the thought of the stubborn tiny pea snookering his friend into training him.

They turned into a path lined with blossoms that led them to a majestic waterfall. Fengjiu squealed in delight "How beautiful!why did we not come here before?" Jumping down from the horse, he helped her down, "well last time weren't you too busy ensuring that we would be proud hosts?" He teased. She put her arms around his neck and coolly countered "well it wasn't me who ate three servings of steamed greens this morning."

He picked her up like the Dihou she was and carried her to the arbor nearby. Sitting on a carpet of Quiyuan feathers, he conjured a beautiful celadon tea set and a bamboo picnic basket. She poured the piping hot tea into the tiny cups and offered one to him "Su Moye sent over this new zijuing tea, its indeed very refreshing." Wisterias floated about in the breeze as they sat in companionable silence gazing at the water droplets that were making tiny rainbows in the bright sunlight. Fengjiu suddenly noticed that there was a crack on the mountain near the waterfall. "Dijun, what's that?" She pointed her finger towards the crevice. "Oh, that is an entrance to the mine. This Yuxi mountain also has a lot of dark steel, though not as good as Miaojing mountain. But it can also be used for making magical weapons. Come let me show you" He beckoned her.

They rowed towards the waterfall on the cloud boat. Fengjiu dipped her hand in the water to play. It was icy cold. I hate the cold, quickly pick me up... Reminiscing about the purple handkerchief she giggled and splashed the icy cold water on him. He caught on pretty quickly and flashing a playful smile at her, he splashed her back. Using her right arm to defend herself, she dipped her left hand into the water, and made a move. "Wait you naughty fox!" he arched his brow, challenging her as he made a move to grab her. Giggling, she jumped to avoid the onslaught but sadly she lost her balance. He immediately tried to save her from falling into the water but just as he tried to stand, the boat suddenly toppled over and the two of them fell into the cold water.

Holding the edge of the boat, she climbed up with his help. She then tried to help him up, but she wasn't strong enough and landed on her back trying to pull him up. Donghua was nothing if not decisive. Her soaking wet hair clung to her face like sea kelps. His thumb caressed her flushed cheek as his tucked her hair with his other hand as he leaned on her to kiss the iridescent birthmark on her snowy forehead. Nudging her nose lovingly against his, his lips curved at the melody of her giggles. He held her in his embrace as he devoured her cherry lips. And she cooperated wholeheartedly running her fingers through his silver mane as their tongues duelled. The boat towed at the edge breaking the magic spell. Fengjiu shivered in the cold wind and within moments they were back in their chamber.

Wearing a crimson nightrobe Fengjiu was sitting by the fireplace drying her tresses. Donghua was standing outside on the viewing terrace waiting for her. She could see his silhouette in the dim light. Finally, he was hers, she had brought him into her life yet again, they would always be together. She had not admitted to anyone but she had been extremely angry. She had bravely borne all the hardships in gaining his love, since she had insisted on their fate, but her heart grieved at his absence throughout her pregnancy and the birth of their child. Why was fate so harsh? Her tiny pea had missed out on his father's love and attention as he came into this world, took his first steps, spoke his first words, fell so ill that she was out of her wits. Why was his fate unjust like little A-li's who had been separated from his mother right after birth. Auntie had told her that Dijun was heartbroken when he figured that Gungun did not know about him...

it hadn't been easy at all to lie with those inquisitive watery eyes staring back at her expectantly. But what else could she do. She had no way out at the time, she couldn't exactly beg him, could she? Nor did she want him to be bound to them out of pity or obligation. She had done what she felt was right at the time. It was survival. But they had missed out on so much. She wished she could travel back in time and live those moments with him. That he could hold their newborn in his arms, hear his babbling, bask in his toothless smiles and be covered in his sloppy kisses. Sadly, even the all powerful Dijun could not do that. She sighed and looked up to discover that Donghua was staring at her as if in a trance. Their eyes met and he softly invited her to join him on the terrace.

The night was lit up with millions of stars dotting the inky black skyline. The weather was getting colder day by day. He covered her with a quilt before laying down on her lap to relax. "What are you worried about?" He squeezed her hand to draw her attention. "Nothing, I was only thinking about Gungun. He and I have hardly been apart since he was born." She responded back with a reassuring smile. "Well, let's bring him here tomorrow morning, shall we?" He offered though he could guess that there was more to that smile of hers. Having Gungun here with us may ease her heart. "Mmmhmm" she tugged on the quilt to cover him properly, wrapping her arm around him as he smiled back turned to his side and pointed towards the night sky.

Hundreds of divine luan birds flew about glowing in the starlight. Scattering then coming together like a giant phoenix, performing the One hundred birds saluting the Phoenix dance for their Dihou. Awestruck she took in the otherworldly sight with a childlike glee suffusing her delicate features. How can someone be so beautiful? Mesmerised he gazed at her as her eyes lit up with wonder and joy. What was bothering her?it couldn't be that she was simply missing Gungun.  Should he wait for her to tell him? Or should he press her again?or maybe he could ask Liansong to gather some intelligence from her best friend. Had he done something wrong again unknowingly that had hurt his little fox? "Donghua, look they are bowing to you" She drew his attention towards the sky, her cheeks flushed red conscious of his penetrating gaze. When the birds departed she shyly thanked him for fulfilling her wish. Her heart overflowed with love. How unbelievable that he loved her so....this person, the most revered deity, the one she admired the most...erm loved the most, truly loved her so much...there was such a comfort in his embrace, he was her home.
