Chapter 5

As the sun was starting to set low, I knew it was probably time to head back home, or well at least back to my job since we decided to carpool, and I left my car at the shop.

I turn in my seat a bit to look at Chris to see that he was already staring at me. "I had a great time today, and I'm glad I was able to spend it with you," Chris said with a wide smile.

"I had a great time too... and thank you," I respond with a small smile and a blush forming on my cheeks. I really didn't want this day to end, so I thought pf an idea before he can suggest dropping me off at my car.

"Hey, you know what...do you maybe want a tour of the town?"

"You know what, why not," he replies with a smile

******

"No that did not happen, how did they even know she was going to walk through the door."

"Yes it did, ooh you should have seen the look on her face when that slime got all over her. I swear I thought my brothers were a goner right then and there."

"I can't believe your brothers would actually do something like that to your friend."

"You better believe it, believe me when I say that those guys are literally the spawns of the antichrist. They love pulling pranks like that on anyone, it doesn't matter where we're at, if they think of any ideas that involve messing with people, they stick to them." I respond as I shove another handful of Reece's pieces in my mouth.

We had just finished the tour that ended up with us in downtown, one of my favorite spots in the city. Now we are just walking alongside each other sharing a reasonable size bag of Recce's pieces that we got at the gas station a block from there.

"Oh man, am I glad my brother or sisters were not like that when we were growing up." He says chuckling while also sticking a handful of candy in his mouth.

"Ya, they are crazy. But I love them and I honestly don't mind, cause they know not to mess with me or they get hit back even harder." I say smirking as I steal the bag from Chris.

"Remind me not to mess with you...Heyy! Give 'em back." He cries out while I take off down the strip.

"Never!" I shout back, I probably seemed crazy screaming like that, but it's so fun messing with him.

As I zigzag through people trying to get away, I can hear him catching up and I realize how dumb I was to try and outrun Captain America. No matter how much faster I try running, I could hear him gaining on me and I knew that he was going to catch up to me eventually.

Right as I was about to dash across the street, I feel myself being pulled back into a solid chest and hear a horn honking, that I realized that I didn't even bother checking both ways of the street when I took off.

"Hey, you alright??" I can hear Chris whisper in my ear as he pulls me closer into my chest, I didn't even realize I was shaking from the incident. I just wrap my arms fully around his waist and shove my face in his chest as I try to shake off the feeling of my anxiety creeping in and trying to piece together what had just happened.

"Hey, shh you're alright. I got you, you're alright." He repeats over as he runs his hand through my hair and pulls me closer to him.

"I...I'm sorry, I didn't realize, I should... I should have checked both ways before crossing," I respond as I try to get my breathing under control.

"Shhh, hey no it's ok," he tells me as he leads me towards a bench to sit on."It happens, you were just caught up in the moment, okay?" He tells me softly as he pushes my hair out of my face.

I nod my head as to let him know I understood him as I pull my head out of his chest, and it was right there that I just noticed that I am basically sitting on his lap and not on the bench, and well you probably guessed that it led me to freeze. again.

"You alright now?" He asks as it seems he hasn't noticed me reacting to the position we are in or it could be that he assumes it was from the situation that happened.

"Uh...ya I am, I am good, just a bit shook up you know?" I respond as I try not to seem panicked over the sitting situation we are in.

"Ya I know what you mean, it scared me too. I realized that when you were getting closer to the street that you didn't see that car coming and when I shouted your name, you didn't stop and I started to panic so I started to push myself to run faster."

"Ya, I'm sorry I should have been paying more attention to my whereabouts or should have slowed down. I guess I was too into the game." I mumble while I slowly start to relax and lean more into him as he continues to run circles on my back in a soothing pattern.

"Hey, you don't have to apologize for anything. We were both messing around and acting like goofballs. 'M just glad I realized the situation beforehand and was able to catch up to you before it was too late." He answers back as he pulls me more into his lap and tucking my head under his chin as to rest his head upon mine.

We just sat there like that for a bit longer, enjoying each other's company and the beautiful view we were given from all the fairy lights strung all through the little shops, light poles and trees spread throughout the little part of town. I just wanted to stay right here forever, cause sitting right there with him on that bench and just looking at all the beautiful lights made me feel a sort of feeling that I never have felt before. Not even with Justin.

And that made me terrified.
