Chapter 48

Three years later:

I'm scribbling down notes from my CRIM 2 textbook for the upcoming quiz this week, not noticing the figure walking towards the table.

This is my tenth week at Fresno State since we started again on the nineteenth of August, and thankfully everything has been running smoothly for me third year.

I do get stopped here and there sometimes as only a couple of people notice me but other than that, everything continues on normally. I even made some new friends with the girls in my dorm.

I miss everyone back home and we talk here and there but I don't feel as home sick as I should since I have family that lives thirty minutes away from here so I don't feel as alone. There was a large 'thump' right in front of me like someone dropped a ton of bricks on the table. I look up to see it's just Julie -one of the girls in my COMM 8 class and in my dorm- she sits down with a defeated sigh and lays her head on top of the books she placed in front of her.

"Hey Jules, you alright?" I question, putting down my pen.

"Yeah I'm alright, just exhausted." She huffs, leaning on her arms after moving the books to the side.

"You had that test for psychology today right?"

"Yepp sure did, hopefully I did good on it."

"I'm sure you did great, heck you were studying for two weeks straight!" I exclaim, shaking my head at her with a smile.

"Thanks," she perks up giving me a smile in return. Then her smile turns into a smirk as she looks between behind me and at whatever is behind me causing me to give her a questioning look but before I can say anything she is already getting up and gathering her things.

"See you later and have fun!" she tells me as she throws me a wink over her shoulder, walking away. I feel the confusion washing over me till my eye sight is covered by a pair of hands.

I was startled at first until I smell Gucci cologne with a hint of a woodsy smell and know right away who it is,

"Guess who?" The person whispers, trying to hold back a laugh as he knows that will give it away.

"Hmmm, is it Seb... he did promise to visit soon with or without Mackie," I tease knowing I would hit a spot.

Which I was right as my vision came too and I was suddenly turned to the right where I was greeted with my handsome man pouting like a kicked puppy.

"Oh don't be such a baby, I was only joking." I giggle as the thirty-nine year old man kept frowning.

"Fine-" I wrap my arms around him, laying my head on his shoulder "-I'm very sorry my love and I was only joking with you. Seb promised he will only visit when he was sure it was alright with you." I continue.

He eventually pulled me into his arms after I finished apologizing.

What a child... I couldn't help but think to myself with a smile.

"I know and na he doesn't have to worry about asking I know you guys are really close, like brother and sister." He smiled down at me, kissing my forehead and he was right.

After that incident between him and Seb, we have gotten closer but in a more big brother and little sister way as I never really had an older brother and we get along so well. Heck we can talk all day with each other and never get bored, our favorite thing to do is sit out in public and talk about people in Romanian which is hilarious as people look at us with a scared look thinking we are spies or something.

"So how's school going for my girl?" Chris hums as he leans on the table.

"It's going really good actually, I got a ninety-two on my exam for American-Govt, I got an eighty-seven on my assignment one for CRIM 2, was able to finish a group code of conduct with my team in COMM 8 before class ended and I did a (surprisingly) decent job at the debate I had in my Critical Thinking: Gender Issues class." I finish listing off as I trace prints on his hand that's resting on my thigh.

"Well that sounds amazing sweetheart and I'm proud of you for doing so great and continuing to push yourself to keep going and staying focus," he comments, bringing my hand up to his lips.

I lean my head on my other hand that's resting on the table as I smile at him.

"Now that it's my turn to ask questions, what on earth are you doing all the way over here Evans?" I ask, an eyebrow raised as I wait for his response.

"What? I can't come and visit my beautiful fiancé?" he questions, giving me a wink.

I roll my eyes at that, ever since we came back from Massachusetts so I can prepare my things to leave to Fresno, he has been non stop been calling me 'fiancé' even though he hasn't even popped the question. I thought at first that he was eventually going to let it go but about two weeks passed and he's still calling me that.

Which doesn't help as it has me wondering when he will ever pop the question and if he is... would it be sooner than I think it would be but then I think how ridiculous I sound as I'm twenty-one and I have a while to go before I can settle down and getting married.

"Of course you can you big dork but I wasn't expecting you for another week for Christopher's birthday." I respond, which is true since we planned on him picking me up and staying at his house, staying there for the weekend for my brother's birthday on the following Saturday, aka Halloween.

"I know but I felt like surprising my girl a week early and see if she wanted to spend time with me.." he pauses when I give a 'what else look' "-and I have to talk to you regarding something about last month which is bound to get out of hand, and I would like to be the one to tell you before people start spreading rumors as we all know what happened last time." he confessed, running a hand down his face.

"Well lets go then," I tell him, raising my hand out to him.

"Where are we going?"

"To the dorms, you know since I figured it would be more relaxing and not having to worry about someone recognizing you an causing drama all over campus." I confirm, pulling him along with in the direction of my hall.

"Well you're not wrong there sweetheart."

"So... what is it that you wanted to talk about?" I question as I take off my shoes, sliding them next to my desk that's underneath my bed. I climb the little staircase at the foot of the bed then patting the spot beside me for Chris to join.

"As you know I went to London last month for the idea of the new role I might take -" I nod for him to continue as I cuddle up to him as he lays against the wall, "-so my manager thought it would be a good idea, along with another manager, if I hung out with Lily James those couple of days while I was out there." he confessed.

"Oh... well how did you feel about it?" I him.

"I wasn't comfortable with the idea really, I mean don't get me wrong she's a nice and wonderful woman to talk to but it just didn't feel right since I wasn't able to talk to you about it before as they just sprung it on us at the last second."

I just nod at what he said, not really knowing what to say.

"You're not... mad or upset with me doll?" he whispers, as if he was afraid to ask.

"No I'm not, yeah I wish you were able to let me know before hand but I trust and believe that you wouldn't do anything you know you shouldn't do or let her do anything you know she shouldn't do." I assure him, shrugging my shoulders then snuggling into his side more.

"Of course, I wouldn't dream of doing anything to drive my beautiful gal away." he kisses the top of my head then snuggling his face in the crook of my neck causing me to let out a giggle at the feeling of his beard tickling me as I keep my eyes closed, hoping to at least take a small twenty minute nap before he drags me out of bed to go do something.
