Chapter 26

Today Chris and I are getting ready to walk around the city, he proposed the idea over dinner last night when it was just the two of us, about showing me around Massachusetts.

Obviously not everywhere since we won't have the time but mostly the more known cities like Boston, Cambridge, Worcester, Plymouth, Salem and then we agreed on visiting the rest of the other cities like Springfield, Lowell, Quincy, and the rest of the small towns scattered across Massachusetts before leaving back to California.

Which is in about a week sadly, but I'm still glad I was able to come out here with Chris and get to see a new side of a community that he has grown up in and I especially feel honored I get to have a personal tour from a true Bostonian.

I'm not going to lie, at first I was a bit hesitant when he was going on about the areas he was most excited to show me because I started thinking of getting noticed with the walking Dorito alongside me but I figured if we have gotten this far without getting stopped or recognized then there's no point in worrying, plus if I keep acting all paranoid it will just ruin the fun we can have here and I can tell it makes Chris feel more laid back and excited to be home again.

I woke up startled to a face full of honey fur along with a strong hold around my waist. I was a bit confused as I was half asleep but then the realization came to me that it was Chris that the arm belonged to and that face full of fur was Dodger who must have moved his way up in bed sometime during the night as he had had previously been at the foot of the bed last night, but I didn't mind at all.

The feeling of being cozy and relaxed had me decide to go back to sleep, snuggling back into the wonderfully warm sandwich I was in...well that was the plan until mother nature felt the need to ruin the moment causing me to let out a groan, obviously not loud enough to wake up the boys.

After lots of scooting and shuffling, I was able to get out of the bed without successfully waking up either of the two and succeeded in using the restroom. I walk out of the bathroom hoping the noise going off didn't make too much noise, I felt relief when I noticed neither of them moving, or so I thought until I heard movement on the bed. I look back from the halfway out the bathroom to see it was just Dodger sitting up and looking over at me with his head tilted to the side as if asking 'what are you doing up?' Which I found adorable, he's like a small child. I put a finger up to my mouth to signify for him to be quiet as to not wake up his dad. It's like he understood as I watch him gently pick himself off the bed and softly trot after me as I continue my way to the kitchen, where I started making breakfast for two.

"Sweetheart... yah ready to go?" I hear Chris shout from the front door.

I start to scramble my things together from his question, shoving my wire-less earbuds, charger, and wallet into my mini Captain America backpack (ironic right?), then grab my phone off the nightstand and speed walk out the room. Making it to the door where the beautiful specimen stood with the door open.

Chris is sporting a tight maroon v- long sleeve shirt, a navy blue bomber jacket, white slip-on vans, washed out jeans, and paired it all together with his Boston Red Socks hat. He holds his keys in hand waiting for me to walk out so he can lock up and head to the cities that awaits us.

Our first stop is the infamous capital of Massachusetts; Boston. Although it is spring time, it is very much still chilly-and being the idiot that I am- I forgot to bring myself a form of protection from the weather.

Thankfully I wouldn't really need it for a while at least until it got darker... or so I thought, until we got half way on our mini tour that the wind started to pickup and the sun decided to play a game of hide and seek every couple of minutes.

Which is how I ended up with wearing an overly large bomber jacket on top of my daisy covered black crop top and dark blue skinny jean overalls. Chris had to basically force the thick material on me as I kept refusing to take it, feeling bad that he would get cold or worse sick.

So that's why I am standing in line next to a giant (even if I am 5'2, I still look like a toddler next him) with my non-visual arms folded across my chest supported with a grumpy look on my face.

"Hi! welcome to St*rbucks, what can I get for yah?"

The auburn haired barista smiled, her eyes not leaving Chris' frame which made me feel even more annoyed than I already am. So being me, I moved in front of the six foot giant and explain our order with a fake smile at the end (kill them with kindness folks!).

I was basically asking her to test my limits, which for hers and everyone else's sake, she didn't and proceeded to move on to the next customer as we walked away to wait for our drinks. Well, I more or less stalked away as Chris just trailed behind, trying hard not to burst out laughing from my interaction with the barista.

Thankfully because it wasn't that busy, we didn't have to wait that long for our drinks and were able to continue on our tour, but once we walked out Chris started giggling like a school girl which caused me to look at him like he was crazy, in which resulted in him laughing even more.

I ended up with joining him as we came to our destination, and sat in the car still laughing our butts off.

"Oh thank chuck, I thought I was going to starve forever," I exaggerate as I step out of the car with the help from Chris.

I start pulling him towards the small diner that we decided to stop at for dinner. I'm so hungry, I was getting to the point of getting hangry and trust me that's not something anyone wants to see.

"I'm sorry beautiful. I didn't mean to make you wait that long to eat, I just wanted to show you one last thing before we went back to the house," Chris responds, guilt creeping into his voice as he pulls the door open for us.

"No, it's alright." I wave off his apology. "I should have spoken up about it, we did only get Starbucks and skipped lunch so I shouldn't be complaining, plus I will be getting food now." I assure him as I sit across from him in the small booth we picked.

Before Chris could respond the waiter came over with the two menus and utensils for the table.

"Hi welcome to Annie's, I am Alec and I will be your waiter for tonight." I knew this guy was going to be trouble when he was giving me googly eyes the whole time he was talking.

I can tell Chris noticed too as he started to look annoyed with the teen. Heck even I was getting annoyed, like doesn't he see me here with someone else? I honestly can't stand people like that, it's really annoying and straight up rude.

"Can I get you guys anything to drink?" I nod my head as I scanned the menu looking to see what they have and trying to avoid eye contact with the creep.

"Yeah, can I get a coke please," Chris speaks up first, "alright one coke and what can I get for the beautiful lady over here?"

"A fucking ice tea." I respond straightforward, as I stare emotionless at him hoping he will get the idea.

Which I'm guessing he does as he looks startled by my responds at my answer and just walks off.

"Freaking prick..." I mumble as he walks off with a defeated look, not thinking Chris would hear until he starts chuckling from his seat.

I just shake my head with a small smile forming my face. I feel him grab a hold of my hand that laid on the table and gave it a small squeeze and relaxed as I saw a different waiter come towards us with our drinks, knowing we wouldn't have to deal with any hormonal teenager tonight.
