Chapter 21

I wake up to someone shaking me awake, after a moment when the blurry went away I realized it was Chris waking me up so we can head out to the airport.

I look over at the clock on the wall, seeing it was already 3 thirty and our flight leaves at five, I decided to take a nap for a couple of minutes but I guess I slept longer than I thought I would since it's been almost three whole hours. After I made sure I had everything I would need for those two weeks I said bye to my family and left for Chris' apartment, where I decided to take a nap on his couch.

"Hey there sweetheart, come on we got to get going if we want to beat any traffic that's on the freeway and make it on time for the flight and...maybe stop for drinks at Starbucks?" He told me, making the last comment as he saw I was still a bit groggy.

I just nod my head, still feeling exhausted to answer him verbally, standing up I stretch a bit and then start grabbing my luggage and my small backpack and head towards the front door that Chris is holding open for me to go through. After we place all our luggage inside and double-checking we had everything, we headed off towards the LAX airport.

I must have dozed off again as I feel the car come to a stop, I rub my eyes a bit to get the blurriness away and see that we are parked on the second floor of the parking structure, there wasn't actually that many cars here since it was later in the day which is a good thing as we don't want to worry about being noticed.

"Ready?" Chris asks, holding a free hand out to me as I walk towards him and we start for the terminal to get to the main building.

This is actually my first time being at LAX so I was pretty excited, as weird as that sounds, to see how it looked like and how different it was compared to the one my family and I use, to be fair I've only been to one and it was in Tijuana to go to Mexico, but that's beside the point.

Even though there weren't many people here, it still was busy with people walking around to get from point a to point b and this airport was pretty big so I can understand why they were rushing.

"Want to get something to drink while we wait for the flight to be called?" he offers, looking down at his watch.

"Yeah, sounds good," I respond as we start walking in the directions where a nearby sign was pointing with a Starbucks logo on it.

As we got in line to order, I noticed a group of girls who look to be around the same age as me, looking at us as they were chatting with each other on a nearby bench which caused me to tense up, holding onto Chris' hand more firmly and look forward in the line, but watching them from my peripheral vision.

Chris looked down at me with a concerned look, "Everything alright?" he whispers to me,

"There's a group of girls staring over here...I think they recognize you." I answer stiffly as I see one of them walking over here.

I know he noticed too as he slowly let go of my hand and stood still looking forward as if he was still looking over the menu, but before she came up to us we were called for our turn to order, which caused the girl to stop and stand on the side.

After giving our order, they asked for a name and Chris blurted out 'Grant'  and we moved away to stand by the pick-up, which was on the opposite side from the blonde girl. I was getting anxious as we stood there not knowing what else we could do but wait for our drinks and it didn't help that she just stood there as if she was waiting for something to happen, it felt like a whole century when they called our order out,

"One White chocolate mocha and one Mango Dragon-fruit Ventis...for 'Grant'?" The barista announced, placing them down on the counter, Chris was the one, much to my liking, who went and got the drinks but not before grabbing a straw for his drink.

As he was walking back I saw the girl watched as the barista announced the name and Chris walking up, and thankfully turned and walked back to her group of friends.

"Is she gone now?" Chris asked as he handed me my tea after he placed the straw inside the drink and throwing away the remains.

I nod as I take a sip of my drink, "Yeah she stayed there watching for a while, which was creepy, until after you picked up the drinks when the barista called out for Grant." I respond, looking over to where the girls where at and noticing that they had left, which made me feel at ease.

"Yeah, you get kind of used to it, well hopefully you don't have to worry about things like this...but I guess we will have to see what the future holds," he confessed as we walk through the airport, looking for our gate, which wasn't that far as we got there in about two to three minutes.

We place our bags on the seats on either side of us and just sit there silently for a while as we enjoyed the quiet and our drinks.

"What time is it?" I mumble to myself as I lift Chris' arm up to look at the time on his watch not bothering to pull out my phone.

That would just take too much effort. I thought to myself as I put his arm around me, snuggling into his side after seeing it was four-forty.

Which isn't as bad as I thought it would be, I assumed it would barely be four-thirty but I guess we arrived a bit later than we thought we would, plus waiting in the line for the drinks. Twenty minutes later we hear the intercom turn on,

"Flight 4b to Massachusetts now boarding." Then it turns off, leaving us to get up and start collecting our things, making sure we have everything and throwing away the empty cups of Starbucks, we head towards the gate, hand in hand as we juggle our luggage in the other.

Massachusetts here I come...
