The doctor walked out of the room, shaking his head.

"As the patient was in pain, we gave him a sedative injection, and he is resting now. But we have some bad news, come with me to my office, and I'll explain to you more about it there."

Feng Jiu immediately followed the doctor to his office. She didn't know what to expect, but she was feeling anxious about the whole situation.

"It appears that the patient is suffering from side effects due to the concussion. It affected his eyesight and triggered his memory loss. At this point, we are not sure if that is temporary or permanent. We will need to send him for further testing and an MRI scan before deciding what the next best step for him is. Meanwhile, refrain from letting the patient get too worked up, as it may further aggravate his injury."

"Don't worry, doctor. I'll make sure he gets a lot of rest." Feng Jiu replied and left the room.

Cha Cha, Cheng Yu, and Lian Song arrived at the hospital.

They met at the hospital's cafeteria to talk about the whole situation, as they didn't want to disrupt Dong Hua from his rest. Feng Jiu then briefly told them about what happened last night.

Feng Jiu: I just came out from the doctor's office. He said that Dong Hua is currently suffering from memory loss and eyesight issues. For now, we don't know how bad it would be, so they will be sending him for further testing.

Cha Cha: What will you do if Dong Hua still doesn't remember anything, Feng Jiu?

Cheng Yu: Right now, I guess we can't do anything other than waiting for Dong Hua to be awake.

Feng Jiu: I really have no idea... I guess we can only take it one step at a time.

Lian Song: I have to be honest with you about something, Feng Jiu. To tell you the truth, this is not the first time that Dong Hua got into such a situation. He managed to avoid the past few attacks, but I guess he wasn't as lucky this time. We were investigating and tried finding the culprit behind those attacks, but unfortunately, there weren't any leads as to who it was. Like what Cheng Yu just mentioned, we have to wait until Dong Hua is awake before deciding our next step.

Feng Jiu: I'm sorry... It's my fault; he only got injured because he was trying to protect me...

Feng Jiu was on the verge of breaking down, but she held back her tears. Her friends then tried to console her, but it was of no use.

After finishing their drinks, they proceeded up to Dong Hua's ward to check on him. As Dong Hua was still asleep, Cha Cha and Cheng Yu decided to head home first as they have to work tomorrow. Lian Song stayed behind because he was worried, and he wanted to make sure Dong Hua was awake before leaving.

Feng Jiu and Lian Song went for a quick dinner as they were both getting hungry. As she was still worried about Dong Hua, she told the nurse to inform her once Dong Hua is awake so that she could rush back to the hospital.

Dong Hua woke up shortly after they were gone, and the nurse came in to check on him.

"Are you feeling better? Your girlfriend just left to get some dinner, and I'm sure she will be happy to know that you're finally awake. She stayed the whole night to take care of you yesterday, and she waited hours for you to wake up. You're so blessed!" The nurse said to Dong Hua.

"My... My girlfriend? Who is she? Why don't I remember anything? Miss, do you know who I am?" Dong Hua was confused.

Before the nurse could say anything, the doctor came in to do some tests on Dong Hua. He checked on Dong Hua's eyes and asked him a few questions. Dong Hua couldn't even remember who he was.

"It appears that you're suffering from some memory loss and blurry eyesight. You will need an MRI scan, and we will refer you to the Ophthalmology department for your eyes. We will decide on the next best step to your recovery once the test results are out. We will come again tomorrow morning, to check on you." The doctor said to Dong Hua before leaving the ward.

Feng Jiu and Lian Song returned, and they met the doctor just as he was leaving. The doctor then told them about Dong Hua's situation.

Lian Song looked at Feng Jiu with a serious face and said, "Since Dong Hua doesn't remember anything now, it won't do him any good if he knows the truth. Let's keep this a secret for now, and we will decide on our next move. As this is getting serious, I will need to discuss with Si Ming and see if he has any better ideas to handle this situation. I'll head back first and revisit Dong Hua, along with Si Ming. Don't stay too long, quickly get home, and have some rest."

"Dong Hua! You're awake! I can stop worrying now. How are you feeling now?!" Feng Jiu anxiously ran into Dong Hua's ward.

"My name is Dong Hua...? I'm sorry, miss. The doctor said I lost my memory, so I don't remember your name. Can you tell me what your name is and what just happened?"

Feng Jiu felt incredibly guilty towards Dong Hua, for causing his injuries. She wanted to tell Dong Hua the truth, but she remembered what Lian Song said.

"Yes, your name is Dong Hua. And I'm Feng Jiu. We met a thief last night, and you got injured because you tried to save me. I am so sorry... I didn't mean for this to happen. I'm sorry for causing you to lose your memory! I'm really sorry!" Feng Jiu had tears in her eyes, and she quickly turned her head away so Dong Hua wouldn't see it.

Although Dong Hua couldn't see clearly, he noticed that Feng Jiu seems upset, and he patted her head lightly, trying to console her.

"I saved you...? You must be really important to me. Don't be upset. Even though I don't remember anything, I feel fine. I'm sure I'll slowly remember everything, so don't worry about me." Dong Hua said with a soft smile on his face.

Feng Jiu instantly felt better, and a smile gradually appeared on her face. Then she thought to herself, "I need to repay Dong Hua's kindness, again. I'll do anything that he wants from me, and I'll protect him from any harm!"

Dong Hua then turned to Feng Jiu with puppy eyes and said, "Will you stay here with me tonight, please? I'm afraid to be alone." In actual fact, he wasn't afraid. He was just making up excuses to make her stay because he really enjoyed her company.

How could I ever reject you, and that face of yours, Dong Hua?
