~Chapter Thirteen.~

"Sophia Abigail Green! Get your butt out of bed now!"

I groan and throw the covers over my head. "No, Mom." I whine.

She throws the covers off of me, and I squint my eyes, because of the light from the sun. "You have to go to school."

"Please, Mom. Can't I just skip, and sleep in?" I sit up and try to get the covers back from her, but she holds them up.

"No. If you don't get up, I'll ground you again."

I immediately get up. "Fine."

She smiles and puts the covers down slowly. "Good girl."

"I'm not a dog." I mumble.

"What's that, Honey?" She asks me.

I smile a fake smile, and pick up my glasses off the dresser. "Nothing, Mother."

She heads to the door. "That's what I thought. You have twenty minutes till school starts. You better hurry."

She leaves and closes my door.

Oh, how I dislike her!

I sigh and hurry up and undress, then I pick up a random shirt that looks clean and slip it on me. I pick up a long skirt and put it on myself, then I hurry over to my mirror and tie my hair up in a half bun.

Good enough.

My phone beeps, and I pick it up and see that I have a text from Gabe.

'Where r u at?!'

I smile and text him back.

'On my way.'

I stick my phone in my pocket and pick up my bag.

Then it hits me.

I missed the bus!

I run my hand through my hair. Looks like I'm running to school... I run down the stairs. "Bye Mom!" I yell as I run out the door. I take my phone out of my pocket to see what time it is.

7:53 am. That makes it seven more minutes till school starts. It takes fifteen minutes to make it to school, from my house. I'm not going to make it.

"Need a ride, princess?"

I lift my head up from my phone, to see that Zack is right outside my house in his car. I push my glasses up and shake my head. "No, I can walk."

He smirks and looks at his watch. "Well, you only have...six minutes till school starts. It will take you at least fifteen minutes to walk and only five for me to drive."

I frown. "No, I'm not riding with you. What are you doing here anyway? Are you stalking me or something?"

His smirk grows bigger and he shrugs. "Maybe I am, maybe I'm not. Just get in the car." He pats the passengers seat.

"No." I start walking down the sidewalk.

"Stop being stupid, and just get in the car, Sophie." I turn my head and see that he is driving besides me.

"I am not being stupid! Just go away."

He laughs. "Never." He winks at me.

I stop walking and stomp my foot. "Fine! I'll get in your stupid car! And don't wink at me!"

He laughs again. "Wow, Miss Sophie has a temper... We better work on that." He winks at me again.

I open the car door, hop in the passengers seat, and slam the door shut. "Oh, you're so annoying."

Zack smiles. "Thank you."

"It wasn't a complement. " I mumble, and cross my arms over my chest. "Just be quiet, please, and we'll get along just fine."

He looks over at me and smirks. "Now, why would I do that?" Zack looks back to the road. "I love to talk...talk talk talk talk talk talk talk talk talk ta-"

"Shut up!" I put my hands over my ears. I can faintly hear Zack laughing at me. "It's not funny, Zack." I take my hands off my ears.

"No... It's hilarious!" He continues laughing, while I just stare out the window, glaring at everything that we pass.

Zack finally stops laughing, and looks at me. "I'm sorry, Sophie. I'll shut up." I don't look at him. I just continue to stare out the window.

We pull up in the school parking lot, and as soon as he parks, I jump out of the car and start walking to the entrance of the school.

"Wait, Sophie!" Zack catches up to me and grabs my hand, and spins me around so I'm facing him. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you upset."

My eyes widen. He's apologizing to me?! What is happening to this world? "What's up with you lately?"

Zack furrows his eyebrows. "What do you mean?"

"Well, you have been sticking up for me, talking to me, being halfway nice to me. You call me princess, you gave me a ride to school today, you saved me from drowning. It's like you've changed."

He moves a strand of hair that fell from my bun, behind my ear. "What was I like before?" He asks me softly.

I flick his hand away from my face and take a step back. "You were a jerk. You and your friends, bullied me all the time. You still do. I really don't think that you have changed. I think that this is all a joke or another prank on me." I feel tears fill my eyes.

Zack shakes his head. "I'm not trying to hurt you. This isn't a joke. I-I don't know why I'm acting this way. Ever since I kissed you at the pool, I have had this weird feeling, everytime I'm around you. I've never felt this way before..." He smiles at me. "And I love it."

I narrow my eyes at him. "I don't believe you. And even if that was true, I would never go out with you anyway." I tear my hand out of his hand and run as fast as I can, away from him.
