Mount Fujikasane; Site of Final Selection

You and Tanjiro started walking up the steps to get to the Final Selection. Tanjiro touched the Wisteria. "Y/n, look."

"Yeah, some flowers, big deal." You said as he shook his head.

"Not just flowers. They shouldn't be blooming this time of year." He told you and you just shrugged.

"Let's just focus on trying to stay alive, alright." You suggested and finally made it to the top, only to find many people up at the top. "Wow, get a load of these guys."

"There's so many." Tanjiro said as two twins started speaking.

"Greetings, everyone. Thank you for gathering tonight for final selection. Mount Fujikasane holds demons that demon slayers have taken alive and trapped here." One explained.

"Demons hate wisteria flowers, which bloom here even out of season." The other started to say. "They cover the mountain from its foot to halfway up the slope."

"I mean, I was just uninterested in hearing about it." You said in your head. The two girls started talking again.

"However, from that point on, the wisteria does not bloom. So the demons roam free. You must survive there for seven days."

"If you do, then you will have passed the final selection. Now go."

You and Tanjiro both rushed forward but decided to split up to get some information. You happened to stumble upon three demons. You gave out a fake cough and they looked at you. "Anyone care to tell me how to revert a demon back to a human?"

"Hmm? What the hell? I smell human and demon blood." One of the demons said as another licked their lips.

"Who cares, all that matters is who's gonna be my next meal!" They started charging at you and you just sighed.

"I'm guessing that's a no." You flipped your sword out of the sheath using your thumb before you harnesses your energy and sliced down at the ground. A yellow line came up as you continued to draw your sword from the ground to the sky in a quick motion. "Demon Breathing 1st form: Kenatsu!"

When your blade reached over your head, pillars of your demonic energy came from the ground, enveloping the demons. "GAAAAAH-!!!!"

"WHAT THE HEEEEELLLLLLL!!!!?!" The three shouted as they faded to ashes. You sweatdropped and held your Tessaiga.

"I didn't even transform it yet, I still need to work on controlling where the pillars come out of." You said and continued to run but then stopped. You closed your eyes. "I hope you're reborn good."

You continued to run and found another demon after leaping from tree to tree. "Hey! You!"

"Huh?" The demon looked up at you as you waved.

"Hey, you know anything about reversing the demon transformation?" You asked and he crawled up the tree and tried to stab you after sharping his flesh. "Fine, you asked for this."

"Demon Breathing 3rd Form..." You leaped down from your perched position and transformed Tessaiga. You twisted your body into a vertical spin aimed for the demon. You started picking up more and more speed as the Tessaiga generates an effect of swirling demonic energy around it. In a blink of an eye, you sliced through the demon's neck, and landed on the ground. "Whirling Death."

The heads came off and you smiled. "Seems like I finally got this down. The Tessaiga already has the slayer material so this should be easy..."

"Rip..."

"Huh?" You suddenly heard someone sneak up on you.

"RIP AND TEAR!!!!" "WHO THE HELL ARE YOU?!"

You quickly leaped into a tree and started running across the tree, hoping from one to another in fast speed. "Just what the hell was that creature?! He was a second away from killing me! I need to get...Hmm...? What is that noise...?"

"AAAAAAHH!!!"

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!"

You were getting closer and finally saw some weird deformed monster, gripping a kids head. "HEY FATTY!!! GET YOUR ASS BACK HERE!!!"

"Y/N!! DONT SAY THAT!!" You suddenly saw Tanjiro after following the voice. Suddenly the creatures arms shifted and stretched to grab a fleeing kid. You immediately rushed off the tree and harnessed your energy.

"Demon Breathing 2nd Form: WIND SCAR!!!" You shouted as you looked for the rift in the demon's energy. You saw a small gap and concentrated hitting it, once you swung, three huge yellow waves of demonic energy came crashing down onto the demon's arms.

"WHA-?! GAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!!" The demon shouted as the attack cut the arms off. You and Tanjiro landed in front of the boy as you smirked.

"That one's gonna take a while to heal." You smirked even more, showing your demon and newly canine fangs. "But don't worry, you don't need to heal for much longer!"

The demon was pissed before it noticed your mask. "So... more of my dear foxes have come!"

He then started to calm down, you wondered if he cared you were a demon, but it seemed his mind was elsewhere. "Tell me, Mutt. Right now.. what Meiji Emperor sits upon the thrown?"

"What kinds dumbass question is that? The imperial family is Taisho." You told him as he started to shiver.

"GAAAAAAAAGH!! I'VE BEEN HERE SO LONG... THAT DYNASTIES HAVE FALLEN AND RISEN!!!" The demon started throwing a fit. You looked at the boy behind you.

"When you see an opening, you run. Got it?" You whispered and he nodded.

"AGAIN AND AGAIN! ALL WHILE I'VE BEEN TRAPPED HERE!! GAAAAAFH!!! UNFORGIVABLE!!! UNFORGIVABLE!!! DAMN UROKODAKI!!! DAMN UROKODAKI!!  DAMN HIM!! DAMN UROKODAKI!!!" He shouted as Tanjiro spoke up.

"You know Uro-"OH, I KNOW HIM! UROKODAKI WAS THE ONE WHO CAPTURED ME!! I WILL NEVER FORGET!! ITS BEEN 47 TORTUROUS YEARS!!! BACK THEN HE WAS STILL A DEMON SLAYER! IN THE EDO PERIOD... THE KEIO ERA!!" The demon stated in anger.

"What the hell...?! If what this fatty's saying is true... then..." You thought before the guy shouted.

"You're lying! No demon here has been alive that long! LIES! They only put demons up here that have eaten two or three people... and they get killed during selection! Plus, the demon's eat each other too!" He shouted and out punched him in the gut, hard.

"Shut it. If you want to get out of here alive, you'll shut your trap." You said as he nodded.

"But I have survived a very long time. In this prison... of wisteria blossoms..." The demon said in its cocky voice. "I have eaten 50 of you brats!"

"50?!" You thought as your remembered what Urokodaki said.

"Remember... a demon's strength comes from the number of people it has consumed." Urokodaki said as Tanjiro cut his own hair.

"If it eats many people, it gets stronger?" He asked and you crossed your arms, checking on Nezuko.

"That seems like a problem, why is that?" You asked and Urokodaki shook his head.

"No one knows...but they do indeed grow stronger... some physically changes and gain unnatural powers." He explained. "Once your nose gets stronger, you'll be able to tell... how many people a demon has eaten."

"...12...13...and... you two are 14 and 15." The demon pointed at you and Tanjiro.

"What bullshit are you spilling?!" You shouted as the demon started laughing.

"That's how many of Urokodaki's students I've eaten! I've decided to kill all of his students!" The demon said as you gripped your sword with rage. "Yes, indeed! Thirteen of Urokodaki's students, but above all... two of them I'll never forget. He had a colorful jacket, and was the strongest by far. He had peach-colored hair and a scar by his mouth. The other was a girl-brat whose kimono was covered in flowers. She was small and not so strong.. but she was very agile."

"This Bastards gonna die, but I gotta wait till he slips up!" You planned as the demon continued to talk shit.

"I recognize you... by those Fox Masks. I know the grain of those masks that Urokodaki carves. They're carved the same way as the Tengu mask he wore. Did he call it a warding mask? I ate them all because of the mask they wore." You started to get pissed, you felt your blood boil. "They're all inside my stomach. It's like Urokodaki fed them to me! Heheheheheheh... the girl-brat wept and grew angry when I told her that. Ehehehehe, soon her movements got shaky. Hehehe. Then I ripped off her arms and legs!"

You and Tanjiro immediately dashed in as you leapt towards the trees and used it as a boost. An arm went towards you as you quickly sliced them all away with quick priece attacks. The same with Tanjiro, but Tanjiro got socked in the side with a large first. "TANJIRO!!!"

The boy started running as Tanjiro hit a tree. The demon went for him while but your quickly got in front of him. "Demon breathing 8th form!!"

You exchanged your blood for power as you felt your body gain more energy. A purple aura dragon swirled around the Tessaiga. "Demonic DRAGON!!"

You quickly sliced all the arms around you for 5 meters. The strikes were quick but they were powerful with each swing sending the demon back. "The hell.?! It's like a dragon crashing into a building...! It hurts!! IT HURTS!!!"

You finished off the combo with a deadly horizontal strike which sent him back, Tanjiro quickly grabbed the back your robe and jumped. You are taken into the air as hands started to come out of the ground. "Whew! Thanks, Tanjiro!"

"Thank you for covering me! I'm back now!" He shouted as the demon sent arms at you, you quickly threw Tanjiro forward and blocked the attack with the Tessaiga. You were sent back to the forest as suddenly the arms stopped growing and soon you recovered.

"Hmm? Did he get him?" You smelled the air to smell disintegration. You put away the Tessaiga as it went back to a katana and in its sheath. You walked towards Tanjiro who had dust flying away from his hands. "What's the sorry look for? You won."

"..." Tanjiro still had a look of sadness as you scratched your head.

"It'll be reborn as a human. I'm sure of it." You said and walked away. Tanjiro shot his eyes up and gave a smile.

"Yeah!" He then started running after you. "Hey, Y/n! Wait up! Wait! Why are you increasing your speed! Are you ignoring me again?! Y/N!! STOP RUNNING!!!"

[Seven days later]

It was early in the morning, when only five of you made it back. You hid your demon ears and the girls looked at you all. "Welcome back."

"Congratulations. I am glad you are safe." The other girl said.

"I can't believe there's not any more of us here... I guess fatty really did a number." You said to yourself as the sister began speaking.

"First, we will provide your corps uniform, we will take your measurements and then engrave your rank." One girl said. You basically got the gist of it, they explained the ranking system and that the survivors will chose and ore for their sword. It takes two weeks for katana's to be finished and then they gave you a crow.

"Umm.... This isn't a crow." You said as the raven landed on your shoulder. "And he got a sparrow!"

You then saw a guy complaining about his sword and wanted to beat up a child to get said sword. You were gonna kill him on the spot but Tanjiro handled it. You looked over at the blond kid to hear him mumbling about death. One of the girls looked at you all. "Are you done talking? Then come over here... and please choose the ore for making your katana. You choose for yourself... the ore for the sword that will kill demons and protect you."

"Is it okay if we decide an ore now but not use it?" You asked them and two first looked at you, before nodding.

"That is fine." One of the girls said as you looked at the ores.

"I don't know which one to choose." The child beating guy said as you smelt them.

"Use your senses, and go with your instinct." You said as you reached for one. The scene cuts to you carrying Tanjiro on your back. "You doing okay there?"

"Sorry, Y/n." He said as you shook your head and started running faster.

"It's no big deal, you'd do the same for me." You said and looked sad yourself. "Damn, I couldn't get any answers out of the many demons I faced. They were all scared to answer or just wanted to mull me and eat me. Demons really don't care about other demons. Nezuko, I'm sorry. I really wanted to be strong, but I'm getting tired. Even a demon like me needs rest, and I've been running from that slayer full of rage most of the final selection. Everything in my body is burning."

You looked to see the sun setting. But soon enough, Tanjiro and you walk side by side as you make it back. "See... huff...even I...hufff.... Get tired...!"

WHAM!!!'

The front door was kicked down as NEZUKO WALKED OUT!! "NEZUKO!!! YOU... YOU'RE AWAKE!!"

Nezuko looked at you and Tanjiro as you both tried to rush down to her. Nezuko sprinted towards you both, she quickly grabbed your head and held them in her arms. You and Tanjiro started crying and holding her. "DAMN YOU, NEZUKO!! WHY DID YOU FALL ALSEEP SO LONG?! I THOUGHT YOU WERE DYING!! I CAN'T BEAR THE THOUGHT OF LOSING YOU!!! NOT LIKE THEM!! I WAS SO SCARED!!!"

Urokodaki dropped his bucket and looked at you two. "You both..." He held all three of you in his arms and cried under the mask. "YOU CAME BACK TO US ALIVE!!"

Around fifteen days later, Tanjiro got his sword, which turned black.

You were seen sitting next to Nezuko as she started playing with your dog ears. "Stop it, Nezuko..."

She gave a happy expression and simply glided her fingers through your hair and played with your ears more. You had a permanent blush on and tried to tell Nezuko to stop, but ever since she read your journal, she's been more... touchy and around you more. Suddenly your raven came bursting through the window. "CRAW!! Y/N Higurashi!! You must head for a town to the north! As a demon slayer this is your first job!"

"It talks?!" You shouted in confusion as Tanjiro's crow came to him later as well.

"Kaw! Tanjiro Kamado! You must head doe a town to the north! As a demon slayer, this is your first job!" Tanjiro's crow also said to him.

"Go, and beware! In this northern town, young girls are disappearing!! Night after night!" Both birds said at once as you and Tanjiro looked at each other and nodded. You both got ready to go and you put on your old robe.

"Demon slayer corps uniforms are made from special fabric. It breathes easily, and resists both water and flame. Even the claws and fangs of lesser demons... cannot rend this Corps uniform." Urokodaki said and looked at you. "Y/n, your robe seems to have a stronger fiber than the slayer corps so you should be fine."

"See, that only gets me curious even more about my family tree." You said and Urokodaki put a box down.

"Also, take this. It's a box for carrying Nezuko during the day. I made it from an incredibly light wood called Kirikumo Cedar. I coated it with rock lacquer to harden the exterior. It is also stronger than a normal box." He said and looked at you two. "This is mere speculation... but instead of eating flesh of humans... Nezuko may sleep to replenished strength."

You both were walking out when Urokodaki looked at you. "Y/n. Anyone with a good smell will be able to smell the demon in you, and will kill you no matter the circumstances. I believe that you are proof that humans and demons can live together, but if you must be seen as a weapon..."

"I know." You said and looked at the Tessaiga. "I'll be a weapon for humanity, as long as I can turn Nezuko back and get revenge."

He smiled at you, you could tell because the mask raised a bit. You bowed to him. "Thank you, for all you've done for us."

"That's actually really swe-"You're not bad for an old geezer." You immediately got hit in the head with a fan as you and Tanjiro kept walking.

"What did you do this time?" Tanjiro asked as you looked at him in anger.

"Why is it always something I did?!" You shouted.

"Mmm! Hmhphn!!" Nezuko shouted from the box.

"Okay, everyone needs to stop bringing up the hunt. IT WAS ONE TIME!!!" You shouted as you three headed towards your first mission.
