It's late into the morning when I finally wake up. I tossed and turned most of the night but I finally did manage to sleep, I can feel arms wrapped tightly around me as becoming the usual for Amaimon. I can't lie it's not like I mind, I find it comforting. He makes me feel safe I guess. I'm still suspended from class so I don't have anywhere to go, maybe I'll sleep just for a little longer.
"Y/n are you awake?" Amaimon talks quietly.
"Yeah."
"I need to talk to you."
"About?"
"Mephisto wants us to go on a trip."
"A trip?" I turn around so I can see his face, "To where?"
"To Gehenna."
I frown this doesn't sound like a vacation, "why?"
"He wants you to meet the rest of the family, and talk to Iblis." Amaimon looks uncomfortable talking about this.
"Oh..."
"Do you not want to go?"
"Actually I think it sounds exciting, I would love to meet your family." I smile, "but would they think we're married?"
"I don't know," he shrugs. "Mephisto didn't tell me."
"Did you think I would say no?" I study his face, sometimes I wish his emotions were readable.
"Yes I did."
"Why?" I raise an eyebrow.
"Why would you say yes?" He replies flatly.
"Well I want to see if Iblis remembers me and hey wait a second, Amaimon you do know I like you don't you?"
He shrugs in response.
"If I didn't would I really be letting you live here like this with me?"
"You're supposed to pretend we're married, isn't that what you should do?"
I sigh, "never mind, anyway when's the trip?"
"Brother is still figuring that out."
"Alright I'm assuming he's going to tell us more later?"
Amaimon nods "I'm guessing."
"I'll have to ask him," I sigh.
"Are you tired?" He frowns.
"yeah actually," I reluctantly admit. "I didn't sleep well last night."
"Did you miss me?" He teases.
"Oh shut up," I giggle a little bit. "Wake me up in a bit alright?"
"What if I don't wanna get up either?"
"Then don't," I grin and snuggle back under my blankets.
I feel Amaimon nuzzle my neck, I smile to myself as I drift into a restful sleep.
We're woken up by a loud knock at the door, I have no idea who it is because no one ever comes to see me. I start to get up but Amaimon grabs my arm tightly, "do you have to get up?"
"Yes someones here," I giggle he's usually not clingy it's kinda adorable.
Reluctantly he lets me go and gets up to follow me. I open the door, to my bewilderment and delight Shadou is leaning against the door frame.
"Ello y/n" He grins. "How's my little doll doing?"
"How did you get here!" I hug him tightly, even with all that's going on I haven't forgotten about my best friend, I missed him and I wanted him to meet Amaimon.
"Doing good then?" He laughs hugging me back.
"Of course I'm doing good aren't I always?" I giggle letting him go.
"Who's he?" Amaimon creeps up behind me, I notice an edge in his voice.
"He's my old friend from before I moved here."
"Well well did you finally find a boyfriend, and not tell me about it!" Shadou makes a pouty face. "I didn't even have a chance you were too far away from me for too long."
"This is Amaimon I told you about him before remember?"
"Oh yeah yeah he's the one you had a crush on anyway right?"
I know I have to be blushing by now, I feel Amaimon staring at me oddly and I already want to hit Shadou. It's okay though Amaimon probably just thinks he's joking anyway, I can breath a little easier with that thought at least.
"Well don't just stand in the hall get in here!" I shove Shadou over to the couch.
"I'll get us all a snack and then your answering my questions got it?"
"Sounds like a plan to me," he plops down heavily onto the couch.
I get a bowl of chips and set it on the table, I also grabbed a handful of cookies but they're just for Amaimon. I hand Amaimon his cookies, he smiles a little. I sit down beside Shadou leaving room for Amaimon beside me.
"Now tell me how the heck did you get here?"
"Well let's just say I've been saving money up."
"Where'd you get money?" I frown.
"My parents gave in a little plus some of our other friends. People back home knew I missed you and wanted to see ya so they helped out."
"That's so cool! I'm glad they did," I grin. "So how long are you here for?"
"Just a few days then I gotta head back home for school."
"Good you can stay with us."
"Who's us?" Shadou raises an eyebrow.
"What do you mean who's us?" I stare at him blankly.
"He doesn't know we live together," Amaimon glanced at me.
"Ooooh yeah," I look down embarrassed, I guess Amaimon's been with me for awhile I just kinda forgot some people well more like a lot of people don't know about it.
"Woah wait a second you two live together?" Shadou sounds shocked and maybe it's me but he sounds sort of hurt.
"She's mine..." Amaimon mumbles quietly.
I look at Amaimon is he jealous of Shadou? Whatever thankfully Shadou didn't hear him, I want to tell Shadou that me and Amaimon aren't really a couple but I don't want to upset Amaimon on the account of this, but at the same time I don't want to hurt Shadou. I sigh trying to decide what to do, I guess it wouldn't hurt to wait and say something if me and Shadou are alone at some point, that way Amaimon doesn't know.
"Well whatever, anyway I'm wiped out after all the flights so I better find a place to crash." Shadou yawns standing up.
"You're not staying here?" I look at him questioningly.
"I don't want to intrude on you two."
"Shadou don't be an idiot I want you stay here," I grab his arm so he can't leave. "You can sleep on the couch or the bed I'd offer the spare bed but that's Behemoths no matter we can figure something out."
"Are you sure?" He looks unconvinced.
"I will tape you to the wall if I have to," I grin mockingly.
"Alright, alright I'll stay and I'm taking the couch it's your bed."
"Thanks you!" I grin triumphantly letting his arm fall to his side.
"Don't worry about blankets or anything I'll be good," he smiles. "Now shoo I want to sleep."
I laugh a little, "Fine, come on Amaimon we can head to bed too." I didn't realize how late it got, I don't know where the day went. I guess I am actually kinda tired already even after sleeping late, I can use a good nights rest. I'm really glad Behemoth didn't hear Shadou come in, he's been lounging around chewing things all day under his bed. I change into pjs quick and brush my teeth before laying in my usual spot by Amaimon.
"You don't like him do you..?" I ask after I'm sure I hear Shadou snoring.
Amaimon doesn't answer me, I glance back to see if he's sleeping but he's not. He looks at me strangely, for once I think he might actually be confused.
"I don't care if you say no, he's just an old friend."
"He likes you," Amaimon mutters.
"I know he does, he always has," I giggle a little. "He knows I don't feel the same and I never will, he's was like my older brother back home kinda like how me and Mephisto are now, except he wouldn't watch anime with me or horror movies."
"Why does he care?"
"I don't know," I answer honestly. "Do you feel better now anyway, now you know I'm not going to ruin our little act."
"Is this still just an act?" Amaimon speaks so quietly I almost don't hear him. I don't know if he even wanted me to hear him, it does make me wonder though. I think about all we've done together so far and I can't help but realize I would really be upset if Amaimon wasn't here anymore. I know Amaimon is almost asleep when I feel him wrapping his arms around me, except tonight he pulls me closer to him. I'm starting well not just starting to think it, I know I really do love Amaimon. I don't know why I never realized it before all the times we just lounge around the house or play with Behemoth I guess I never actually remembered he isn't gonna be with me like this all the time, in fact once this little Vatican issue is resolved I might never see him again. There's no way I could live with that, I'll have to tell him at some point, if I work up the nerve or maybe I'll just think of something another way. Maybe I don't have to lie to the Vatican anymore.
