Today was bad..... Me and Mephi are on our way to the Vatican because once again I made bad decisions. Yukio took the class on a mission no biggie we've done those before I stand on the sidelines not messing up but not really helping either well it just so happens today they had to execute Salamanders hiding in the woods outside of town. To be quite fair I didn't know what was going on so I shouldn't be taking blame but I guess when a group of demons that can spit fire decide to tackle someone to the ground and lick them that's a "problem".
So apparently King Iblis from Gehenna kept our deal after all, I can't imagine why when I was just a child and summoned him. I guess maybe even demon kings have soft spots sometimes but then again I've never really met a killer demon I manage to get along pretty well with them, but maybe that's because in a way I'm one of them. Before the exorcists came way back then to make Iblis leave we made a deal, it was more of a game and I didn't really know it was bad anyway but when you're lonely and finally have a friend even if it was just for a few days you'll do about anything. So we each came up with something we wanted and had to promise no matter what we would never break our promises I asked him to let me be friends with all the fire demons and he asked me to never to give up my love of demons and continue to respect them like I did. It was an easy promise on my part, but then I actually figured out what the Vatican was and understood his promise more, it was hard it's even harder now but if I can still play with Salamanders then I'm keeping my side of the deal no matter what.
We arrive a little after one there's a weird guy outside I've seen him one time before, he was the one who made me get sent away. Arthur Angel aka weird guy makes some grand appearance pretending to be such a big shot, Mephisto plays along until we're being escorted inside then Mephi drops back to walk beside me.
"He's really something isn't he," Mephi snorts disgusted.
"If I wasn't in trouble Id snap at him," I sigh.
He nods slowly, "I believe I already know the outcome of this whole trial."
"You do?" I glance at him surprised.
"Yes..." He sighs, "normally these things go unnoticed you could pass as a tamer, but since it is you and under your special circumstances well I think they'll be moving the date for your decision or possibly suspending you.."
"What!" I hiss. "I didn't do anything bad!"
"I know darling," he looks at me sadly. "If I could do any more for you I would however I do have an idea and if I so chose to attempt it you must play along understand?"
"What kind of idea?"
"Y/n do you trust me?" He smirks.
"Of course I do." I answer without hesitation.
"A rather bad decision honestly," he laughs. "But in any case I'll do my best you just have to play along."
"Alright...." I sigh dejected.
They lead us to a large court room, there's exorcists everywhere. I'm getting uneasy just going to sit, I can't do this! I spot Shura and a few other teachers from school talking amongst themselves on occasion giving me quick glances. The judges come out, they're very mysterious I can't even see their faces in their robes.
At first it seems I have a chance of leaving without punishment.....until Angel steps up to the stands with his "evidence." He accuses me of all types of crimes that I've never done... Well mostly anyway. Mephisto shoots me an aggravated look. I know now whatever his wild idea is, it's time to put it in action. I give him a quick nod to show I'll go along with whatever it is I don't care anymore I just don't want to be here.
"Excuse me fair judges I would like to propose a suggestion if not a solution to all of our problems." Mephisto struts to the middle of the room, he carries himself so confidently I wish I could do that.
"Judges please Mephisto Pheles can not be trusted he's a crook and a lier!" Angel snaps.
"Though he has made questionable decisions Sir Pheles is still a member of the Japan branch he may speak." A judge calmly speaks.
"Would young y/n here still be in this mess if I were to tell you she has found a suitable partner to take her hand in marriage?" Mephisto grins. "She then would be aloud to express her demon heritage and play a part under my supervision as an exorcist."
Silence fills the room, not a calm silence but a nervous one people are fidgeting including myself. I had no idea he would have a scheme like this, what if they question me....
"I'd like to make a wager with you my fair judges, if miss y/n is able to wed whilst completing her exorcist training by fall she is aloud to continue to inhibit Assiah under my guidance." He pauses, "but if she is not able to do either of these things you may send her to Gehenna or if necessary execute her it would be your choice."
I want to cry and scream at the same time. How am I supposed to find a demon to marry me or at least pretend to and complete cram school when I'm barely passing. It's too much I'd rather be executed....I really hope Mephi has a backup plan.
There's a few more moments of silence before the judges stand, "we accept your wager Sir Pheles we hope you don't fail us at your task ahead." They glance at me as if eyeing me up seeing how much of a threat I am.
Everyone immediately seems to clear the room until I'm left dumbfounded standing by Mephisto.
"What were you thinking!" I wail.
"Darling trust me I don't intend to play fair" he smiles widely and for the first time ever he's the one pulling me into a hug.
