You are riding to the station after the accident and you can't get that little girl out of your head.. what if she didn't make it? What if she was severely injured? Does she have a concussion? You feel so badly for the victims of accidents and medical emergencies..
The truck arrives back at the station and everyone exits.. you hop down and take a deep breath and exhale..

Buck: you okay?

Y/n: yeah just. These kind of stick with me you know..

Buck: hey she made it out and she's going to be ok.. it could have ended terribly

Y/n: yeah you're right thanks

Buck: you did a great job you're great at this..

Y/n : *smiles and walks to the lockers*

You head up into the captains office to have a talk with your dad about what's on your mind..

Y/n: hey captain.. do you have a minute

Captain: I always have time for you

Y/n: thanks today seeing that girl so scared and so helpless I can't let it go I know she's safe now but what if we couldn't cut her out in time..

Captain: sweetheart sometimes you have to realize where you've helped and did your best and you did just enough to make sure she got home with her mom and dad.. and other times we have to accept that we can't save everyone.. look at buck.. the roller coaster.. this guy just let go and buck had to watch him fall.. I bet he still thinks about him too.

Y/n: I just don't think I know how to put my feelings aside from what I do I know it will get better but I always feel so strongly for these people that they stay with me..

Captain: and that's what makes you a great paramedic and a great fire fighter.. you care for these people not even knowing them
And you are determined to get them the help they need you're not looking for the fame on tv for being a hero you just enjoy doing the right thing.. remember when you were 8 and that little girl on the other team broke her ankle on the field you passed up a goal and kicked that ball to someone else just to go and help her up to get to her parents.. that's what makes you great..

Y/n: why are you always so wise and old..

Captain: because I'm wise .. and old  to you but I'm just getting started..

*You both laugh*

Y/n: I hope I'm that wise when I get old too *laugh* thanks dad.. I - I mean captain

The end of your shift rolls around and the rest of the day was pretty easy just calls about falling and a broken wrist.. you head to grab your bag and check your phone and you have a missed text from buck..

" hey I got something for you meet me at my car"

You put the bag over your shoulder and put your phone in your pocket at you walk out to bucks jeep he opens his door and he pulls out some flowers..

Buck :Here these are for you.. I uh had a buddy pick them up for me i told him to pick something he thinks would suit a strong beautiful woman like yourself.. and this is what he got I hope you like them..

Y/n: Oh I'm allergic to flowers...

Buck: oh shit uh then ill—

Y/n: I'm joking Evan I love them they're amazing that's so sweet of you.

Buck: you deserve them I'll call you tonight?

Y/n: id like that..

You smile and smell your flowers and you walk to your car.. you just can't stop thinking about how sweet he is and how he's actually willing to get to know you. Just wondering what this will be..
