TWENTY SEVEN

"JONATHAN'S GIVING me dirty looks." Astra huffed, her sight trained on her ex-manager, who was certainly less than thrilled to see the previous arrestee in his McDonald's again. She'd fucked up business for like an entire day. So, it was safe to say that the guy thought she was a complete bitch. "Arrest him, please."

Looking into the pleading girls eyes, Morgan laughed, playing along with her act, he asked, "what should I charge him with?"

"Hmm, let's brainstorm." Astra suggested, knotting her eyebrows together thoughtfully, "I swear he tried to kill me once so attempted murder, yeah?"

"Not sure that'll stick, seeing as you're alive and there's no injuries, motives, witnesses-"

"Wow, way to shit on my idea." The blonde scoffed, shoving a fry into her mouth as she glared back at Jonathan.

"No," Morgan quickly denied, reaching for the girls hand. "You're idea was great." Astra raised a brow, "okay, it was shit. We'll think of something better, later."

"Yeah?" She ratified, leaning closer to him.

"Yeah. As long as I don't lose my job I think we'll be alright." He nodded, inching closer to the blonde, only to have her shove him away.

"I can't do this with Jonathan staring at me, I feel like he's plotting my murder as we speak." Astra gestured to the man, whose glare was still directly on Astra and Morgan.

"Just ignore him." Morgan dismissed, but Astra refused, shaking her head like a child who'd just been asked 'was it you who made potions out of my hair shampoo?' By their parents. "Alright, what do you want to do?"

"Eat in the car like those couples in the movies." She suggested, shrugging her shoulders. "But I need a piss first."

"We've been dating for a couple weeks, Astra." Morgan pointed out.

"Too much information?"

"Not at all." He denied.

"Well shit, I'll be back in a minute then." She said, slapping her hands roughly on the table as she stood up, her eyes glaring at Jonathan, a smirk forming on her lips as the man slowly averted his gaze.

Astra walked briskly to the bathroom, determined to piss before her fries got cold. This was the cutest date she'd ever been on, she thought to herself.

Like, okay maybe she'd only been on four dates. But still. It was the thought Derek put into it that counts.

"So you're dating now?" Astra stopped dead in her tracks. She would always recognise that voice anywhere.

Although she'd anticipated it, she still dreaded to turn around. Perhaps if she didn't, it would be as if he wasn't there at all.

"Don't want to say hi to an old friend?"

"I'm going to fucking kill you." She spat, turning around to face the dark-blond haired man, shoving him into the wall behind them.

His face softened into the look she had loved what seemed like so long ago. And as ridiculous as it sounds, she couldn't help but miss his unusually attractive face. His oddly calm demeanour. "Why kill a person that's here to warn you?"

"Warn me? Just like you did before Kai fucking kidnapped me?" The mans face morphed into a look of sadness.

"Astra, I wasn't there when Kai did that." He denied quickly, shaking his head in sorrow.

"You were in the front seat. I literally heard you, asshole." She swears Phoenix was the person talking. Or was it Dylan?

"Astra, I've not had any contact with Kai or Dylan for months now. Not since I saw you in your apartment."

Pressing her lips into a line, she scoffed, "well, Kai's dead, so. Guess you never will again."

He sighed. "That's a nice sentiment."

"So, you're coming to warn me, again?" Astra asked, directing the question back to their original topic. "'Cause you know the last time you did that, it was a total bust. There was no mole." And with that, Phoenix laughed. And when she says laughed, Astra means full-on cackled.

"Sorry, sorry." He said, attempting to catch his breath. "I wasn't wrong about that, you know. But it just wasn't in the way I'd thought."

"The fuck do you mean?"

"Your little boyfriend over there?" Phoenix quirked his head to where Morgan sat, unaware of the conversation taking place between the two criminals. "He was the one leaking information, how else would he have found you so soon after being kidnapped? Just think about it."

Astra's jaw dropped. He was lying. She knew that, Phoenix hadn't been in contact with her for months fucking months. And this is the first thing he blurts out? What bullshit.

But then again, why would he be playing a trick on her? The Black Wolves were gone. "Anyway, that's not what I came here to say." He said, regaining the girls attention. "The FBI are planning your arrest. There's a loophole in your contract, in case you were unaware."

"I fucking hate you." She shook her head. "Trying to fuck shit up just because you can."

"Derek knows about it." Phoenix shrugged, "ask him, if you don't believe me. I guarantee he'll try to deter the conversation. But tell me Astra, why would I lie to you?"

"Because your a fucking dick, that's why. Why the fuck would Morgan have worked for Kai?" He's a liar, he's a liar, he's a liar.

"You tell me. Trust him, trust the BAU, if you want." He said, his voice slightly defeated, "you know where to find me when you figure out you're wrong."

And with that, Phoenix threw his hood up, dropping his head as he disappeared through the bathroom of the McDonalds restroom. How criminal of him.

Astra knew he was a liar. She loved him, truly. She trusted him, undoubtedly. But he was a liar.

Besides, if Derek was planning on turning her in, why would he even bother to save her from Kai? He wouldn't play some sadistic game like that it just wasn't him. And he most certainly wouldn't be a mole.

But nevertheless, as she walked towards Derek, who sat, awaiting the blonde girls arrival in his car, she couldn't help but wonder how she was going to tell him about her and Phoenix's little encounter.

That was probably why she decided to sit in absolute silence, contemplating every scenario that may go down when she asks him what the fuck is going on, until they arrived in the blondes apartment.

"You want something to drink?" He asked Astra, boiling the kettle. "I know you're always dying for coffee."

"Sure." She gulped, nodding her head frantically.

"Okay what the fuck is up with you? Ever since you got in the car earlier you've been acting weird." Morgan stated observantly, although he continued to search for milk in her fridge, raising a judging eyebrow as he noticed it was two weeks out of date.

"How did you find me, Morgan?"

Now this undoubtedly came as a surprise to the man, who dropped the spoiled milk on the floor. "Shit I- do you have a mop?"

Walking over to her cupboard, she handed the man a cloth instead. "Answer my fucking question."

"What are you even talking about? When Kai kidnapped you?" He asked, although the answer was more than obvious.

An unimpressed look took over Astra's nervous features. "When the fuck else would I mean?"

"I told you already, Garcia narrowed it down from some places she figured out." Morgan stated, an eyebrow raised.

"Except that's not what Garcia told me." And Astra swears on her moms fucking grave that Morgan choked on the air, completely stopping his cleaning up of the milk from her floor. "It's funny, really. Because she said that you told her that I'm always going on about some astronomy tower, and that's how she narrowed it down."

Morgan sat there, his face unmoving, completely speechless.

"Any idea why she would say that?"

"You must've heard her wrong." He shut her down, his voice coming off weaker than she'd ever heard it. "You know it's only been a few weeks, you lost a lot of blood. Memory loss is a common side effect."

"Are you trying to fucking gaslight me right now? Tell me the truth, Morgan." What the fuck was happening? She hadn't even gotten onto the FBI investigating her for an arrest yet.

"Look, okay I'm sorry." He dropped his head. "That was a dick move. I can't tell you the truth, though. Not right now Astra."

"Are you joking? Like seriously, are you kidding me right now?" She questioned, literally dumbfounded. "Okay then, answer me this, Morgan. Why the fuck are the FBI planning my arrest?"

Morgan's stature tensed slightly more as he stood up, walking over the spilled milk. "Astra, believe me when I say that it's not you the DA is plotting a case against. You aren't the one that's going to be arrested."

"Oh yeah?" She looked at the man, narrowing her eyes. "Then who the fuck is it?"

"I cant tell you. But I swear, I fucking promise you Astra, you won't be arrested any time soon." He tried to assure her, but she just became more riled up.

"Why not? Why cant you tell me? I swear to fuck Morgan." Astra clenched her jaw, trying to evade any angry tears from falling ( yeah she knows it's stupid but she can't help that she gets so emotional when shes arguing )

He moved closer to the blonde, placing a hand on her shoulder. "I'll lose my job, Astra."

"So what? The whole BAU is plotting something that I can't fucking know about? And somehow this links in with you lying to me?"

"Astra you're misinterpreting what I'm saying." She's pretty certain that she's never been this angry in her life not even when she was arrested, not even when her mom was killed ( because let's be honest, she felt more vengeful when that happened )

"I'm misinterpreting shit." She scoffed, but yet, couldn't bring it in herself to remove Morgan's hand from her shoulder.

"I'll tell you everything. I just can't right now." He said, planting a kiss to her forehead.

Taking in a deep breath, Astra closed her eyes. "I really like you, Morgan. More than I've ever liked anyone before."

"I feel the same way, Astra." He said, now engulfing the girl in a hug, resting his chin atop of her head.

"But you're lying to me, and I need you to leave." She pushed the man away.

"I promise I'll tell you everything-" he reached for the girls hand again, only for her to back herself into a wall instead.

"And that's great. It is. But I don't trust you right now, so please get out of my apartment." She pleaded quietly.

Defeated, Morgan nodded his head. "Fine, but you aren't getting rid of me that easily, I'm coming back in the morning." He paused, perhaps to observe the girls reaction to this she didn't object "a coffee and croissant, just like always." And with that, Derek Morgan left her apartment, but not before uttering a few more words of apology.

If only he had known that Astra Hart wouldn't be there when he came back the next morning. Because as she checked her phone for messages, to see if Morgan had said anything ( he did by the way a measly 'sorry' ) only to see a notification from none other than the shit stirrer himself Phoenix fucking Carter.

'For proof' attached was a photo. An arrest warrant. For Astra Hart.

She supposed that was how she came to the conclusion that Morgan had lied, again. So had Penelope Garcia and the whole fucking BAU. Trying to convince her she was their 'family'

And at that moment, she messaged Phoenix.

ASTRA — 'Maldives?'

PHOENIX — 'Maldives.'

Astra knew it was a fucked up, irrational thing to do. If she'd have known what she does now, she never would have went through with it. But she did. She wouldn't just sit around to get arrested. So, as she wrapped up the friendship bracelets she had made merely months ago for the BAU, she felt tears well with the thought of posting them.

But when she did, there was no turning back.

"Did you get a bracelet too?" Rossi asked Emily over the phone, "we need to call Hotch. Tell everyone to come in right now. Something's wrong."

"Yeah, I did. But that's not why I called you." Emily rushed through her words.

"Okay? What is it?" Rossi questioned, waiting for a response that came with deliberate speed.

"I know why Kai called Astra my Star...

and it's going to blow your fucking minds."
