THE FINALE

NO MATTER how much she denied it, Astra Hart knew that she wasn't a good person.

Maybe she figured it out when she joined the Black Wolves, as a means to save one life, not caring about the countless more that would be lost. Or perhaps it was when she sold out the heist group, just to save her own skin.

But the true epiphany came when she found herself behind the wheel of a car, driving with utmost determination as police sirens wailed behind her.

"Astra, what are you listening to today?" Phoenix asked god had she missed that question in some strange, twisted way.

"Used to love her, Guns N' Roses." She yelled with a small smile over the blaring sirens.

"I fucking hate that band." Phoenix scoffed and Astra swears she almost stopped the car ( the only thing preventing her were the cops behind them )

She was shocked, to say the least. Who in their right mind doesn't like Guns N' Roses? "You're fucking with me, right?"

"Not in the slightest." He shook his head, lifting it up to the sky as he shouted for the cops to fuck off. "Have you gone off AC/DC or something? That was your favourite band, right?"

"I-" she began, preparing herself to argue, but was interrupted by the ringing of her phone. Before she could answer, Phoenix snatched it from the girl.

"Hello?" The man questioned, "no she doesn't want to fucking talk to you."

"Who is it?" She asked Phoenix, speeding up the car as she spoke.

"Your boyfriend." Shooting him a glare, Phoenix rolled his eyes, placing the phone on speaker. "She can hear you, but so can I asshole."

"Why are you doing this, Astra?" Morgan questioned, his voice so loud it was partially cut out through the phone. "Just turn around, nothing will happen to you, I promise."

"I don't trust you, Morgan. You were selling me out, I don't fucking know why or what you got from it. But you were."

"Selling you out?" He repeated, "is that what you think of me?"

"Tell me how you found me so quick. Tell me who the arrest was for, if not me." She awaited an answer, only to be met with silence. "You know, if it wasn't me that the FBI was planning on arresting, why is it I'm in the middle of a car chase?"

"There's a fugitive in your passenger seat, Astra." He deadpanned. Astra nodded her head well, he wasn't wrong.

"Shit, way to call me out." Phoenix commented with a laugh.

"You're lying to me, and your friends. Who by the way I know are listening." She pointed out.

"Astra," he begged through nervous breaths, "I really care about you. Please don't make me do this."

"Do what, Morgan?" The car sped up, just enough to make Phoenix grab a paper bag from the side compartment, whispering something that sounded like 'I'm gonna hurl'

"Shoot at your car Astra, you'll get hurt, okay?" Even amidst his lies, he couldn't deny one thing he cared for the blonde. More than he'd like to admit.

"Just tell me the truth. How the fuck did you find me?" She demanded for the final time, her sight clouding as tears threatened to fall. Why won't he just tell her?

"There's so much to say, Astra. Just turn the fucking car around." He pleaded. "I didn't sell you out, I promise."

"He's lying." Phoenix spoke up, "he wants you to turn around because you're harbouring a fugitive, like he said. You know that's ten years, right?"

"Is that true?" She asked through the phone, only receiving the reply of a defeated sigh. "I'm going to miss knowing you, Derek Morgan." And with that, Astra Hart hung up the phone, throwing it out of her Ferrari window as she sharply manoeuvred the car through a multitude of alleyways, her only focus being on drowning out the sound of the sirens.

"You let her hang up the phone?" Emily demanded, her eyes frantic and skittish, as if she hadn't slept a wink ( which, by the way, she had not )

"How could I have stopped her?" Morgan replied, with just as much fury. "She's Astra Hart. She does what she wants when she wants to."

"Five more minutes, five more fucking minutes, and she would've known everything." Rossi blurted. "Shit, uh I-"

"What do you mean, known everything? What haven't you told me?" Morgan asked the rest of his teammates, who looked at him with saddened gazes.

"Morgan, you might want to sit down." Hotch instructed, his usual monotonous voice faltering at the thought of poor Astra Hart. "Firstly, we know you were the mole. And we know you did it to keep Astra safe. But you still dealt government information to a gang."

"I know." Morgan said, he wished he had told Astra the truth. But it was undoubtable, that if he had, she never would've looked at him the same ever again. "I'm prepared for the consequences. Just know I stand by what I did."

Hotch nodded, gesturing for Spencer to speak.

"Look, Astra doesn't know as much as she thinks she does." Spencer sighed. "Not even half the story."

"She's been played more than we were." JJ agreed. "We'll do everything we can to get her back, Morgan. But for now, let's start at the beginning. Garcia?"

"So we all know that Astra had a brother, right? Aster Hart, his name meant star, so did hers, it was a cute sentiment up until he died, right? Then it just served as a constant reminder." Everyone nodded, Aster was presumably dead. "There might be evidence to prove otherwise. You, remember that bakery woman who was killed? Guess who's DNA was found at both her and Astra's mom's crime scene."

Astra Hart had escaped. She had run away from her problems and that left her here, in a getaway car with Phoenix Carter. She supposes that things will always end as they begin. "You good?" She asked the man, who still had his face in the brown paper bag.

"Never been better." He assured, holding his thumbs up at the blonde. "You're fucking amazing, you know. I've missed you, S-Astra."

"I would say the same, but apparently you hate Guns N' Roses." She turned her head up, feigning anger at her old best friend.

"Alright then, play your stupid songs. I'll learn to love them. Seeing as you'll probably listen to them all the time in the Maldives." He folded, of course he would.

Astra's eyes widened with realisation. "Shit, how are we getting there?"

"I've got something planned, chill out." He said as he placed sunglasses over his tired eyes ( Astra had texted him at like two am, after all ) "you want a plain scone?" Phoenix offered, a kind grin on his face as he held up the disgustingly bland snack.

"I'm good you know I fucking hate those things remember that one guy who used to order them with his grandma at Shelly's? He was a total creep." She laughed, thinking back to her old life with the Black Wolves. She almost wished that things had never changed.

"You remember him?" Astra nodded with a confused smile why would Phoenix care about that guy? "It's a shame that Shelly died, the chats I used to have with her and that guy were great."

Huh, Astra could've sworn Shelly's death wasn't released to the media. "When did you talk to this guy? We used to always go together don't say you went without me!" She laughed, dismissing her earlier thought. She trusted Phoenix, she did. She was running away with him, after all.

His eyes remained trained on her face. "Once or twice."

He may have looked menacing, but he just couldn't help but observe the blonde woman. They really did look so much alike.

How had she never noticed it?

Well, he supposes that he's lucky she hadn't. Maybe his plan wouldn't have worked so accordingly if she had done.

"Hey, Phoenix?" She snapped him out of his thoughts. "Where am I driving us to?"

"There's a cute little astronomy place I know. You'll love it there there's shows all about how when stars die they can turn into black holes and shit you're name means star did you know that?"

"Yeah Kai used to call me his star, remember?" She shuddered at the use of her nickname. The last time she had heard it was just before the mans death 'it's all in the stars' is what he had said. The tauntingly confusing statement that still remained with her, a relentless nagging on her mind.

He nodded thoughtfully. "You know, Wolves face the moon and stars when they howl. It's funny that, isn't it?"

"What's with all of these rhetorical questions?" She nervously laughed. Something felt... off. "You're being fucking weird, are you aware of that?"

"Sorry it's just, I've missed you." He smiled, shaking off his oddly creepy demeanour.

She smirked, raising her eyebrows with knowingness, "everyone misses me when I'm not around."

God, she and Aster really were so similar. Maybe that's why Kai branded them as his Star's. ( although Aster was always the one in control throughout their partnership )

Phoenix knew how much her brother had missed her.

And shit was he going to be happy when she was back.

But as of now, Astra didn't need to know about Aster. She needn't care of his leadership, his authority, the fact that he killed their own mother.

And she most certainly didn't need to be made aware of the fact that her arrest came down to his mistake like, really AH, Aster Hart? As Phoenix said, he should've been more thorough, but none of that mattered. No, for the time being, they'd just stay there driving and singing without a care in the world.

But really, it is quite sad. After all, shouldn't Astra of all people have known that nothing good starts in a getaway car?
