To Bargain with a Demon Part 5

LOCATION: Bat Cave

Dick Grayson's POV

Back in Gotham

Today has been a boring day I suppose it doesn't help that Natasha and Tim have taken all of the excitement with them

The time of 1:00 am was slowly creeping up upon Gotham and as the citizens went to bed the low life's came out but as of late things had been quiet which basically translates into boring

Barbra sits at the Bat Computer as I enter the Bat Cave she goes through the weekly police reports she was amazing with computers and I can tell that drives Tim crazy,

I didn't even realize anyone was down here as Bruce and Natasha were the only two that could stand being down here for too long, most people would hate spending too much time in this dank cold cave but you get used to it after a while and the bats make for some good company.

Me and Barbra hadn't spoken for a while now and I hated it I still love Barbra, but what do I say?

Come on Grayson time to be smooth think Grayson think!

"So Barbra how is Harvey Dent doing?" well better than saying nothing I suppose,

I couldn't bring the words out that I really wanted to say so I should stick to shop talk.

Since Black Widow's and Bat Girls last encounter with Harvey Dent or Two Face Natasha had been visiting Dent in Arkham since his suicide attempt I knew that Barbra would know the latest gossip

"Well Natasha says that Harvey has been surfacing a lot more he's even shown interest in complying with the GCPD to bring down some of the local gangs" Barbra tells me which is great Dent was a good man I knew Bruce held on to hope that his friend was still in there somewhere.

I begin to suit up for my nightly patrol when suddenly the Bat Computer states that there is an incoming transmission. Barbra walks over to the Bat computer

"It's from Tim" she says ominously, wait weren't Tim and Natasha in the mountains why would they be contacting the Bat Cave?

I look over her shoulder, but I can't make out what it says the message is hidden in some sort of code

"Oh no quick get Bruce, Tim and Natasha are in danger!" she exclaims but Bruce is already in the Bat cave he obviously heard the incoming transmission noise

"What does it say?" he asks

"It's written in a code that me and Tim came up with in case of an emergency it says that him and Natasha have come across the League of assassins and followed them back to their base and that they are up to something bad he's requesting back up immediately" Barbra replies I turn around and see that Bruce has already got in to his Batman ensemble.

I can tell that he's worried it had been too long since that transmission was sent

"Is there a location?" he asks Barbra

He looks anxious at Natasha and Tim being in danger I knew most of the time the Black Widow could handle herself but when it came to the League of Assassins they knew a lot about her past and I knew there was some sort of history between her and the League or so I've heard I tend not to pry too much into Natasha's past I know that she can get very defensive 

"I've got a signal on where they are" Barbra says as we jump in to the Bat Plane

"Good transmit the co-ordinates to the Bat Plane Nightwing and I will take care of this you stay here Bat Girl in case Robin or Black Widow try and get in touch" The Bat Wing begins it's start up sequence and very quickly we soar into the Gotham night sky to save our friends.

Natasha's POV

LOCATION: Back in the mountains 

I don't know how much time had passed possibly a day,

The assassins outside my door had mostly kept to themselves but poked their heads in occasionally to ask if I needed anything which I always replied with a no, but I could tell that my very presence was making them nervous,

I had spent hours trying to come up with an escape plan and sure there were many options but all of them ended badly I couldn't take out these guys without an alarm being raised and that would result in Tim Drake being hurt or even possibly killed

I hear the lock on the door being turned I assumed that it was one of the assassins coming in to ask me if I needed anything, I turn around to tell them that I'm fine but I was wrong it was Ras Al Ghul he sets a tray on the table 

"I spoke to my men outside they told my you haven't eaten or drank anything" his concern was touching

"You're concern is touching Ras I hope that you are showing Tim Drake the same courtesy" I place my hand on my heart in a sarcastic gesture

"The boy's well-being depends on your co-operation take my offer and I'll send him straight back to Gotham" I look at the floor of course I wasn't serious about taking that offer I just want some time but what will happen when time runs out I will have no choice

"At least drink something" he passes me a glass with clear liquid in it

"Only if it's Vodka" I smirk it's been that kind of day

"Just Water I'm afraid" I bring the glass to my nose if there are any hidden poisons or drugs I could easily sniff it out in water but I couldn't smell anything

"Close enough I suppose" I take a hesitant sip it wasn't till now I realised how thirsty I was

"See Natasha Romanoff I'm really not a bad man you should understand my vision of making the world a better place" I nearly choke on my water because Ras was quite the opposite of a good man he was totally deluded

"Why should I understand?" I ask him sarcastically

"What has the world ever done for you Natasha Romanoff it's turned it's back on your pain it would rather you didn't exist because your very existence is a reminder of it's own ignorance" well he did sort of have a point but that didn't mean that there weren't good people out there

I remain quiet which basically translates to I do not have a witty come back

"You still have a day and a half to decide try and eat something" he leaves the room and I'm left feeling disheartened I daren't think what will happen to Tim if I run out of time

I need to come up with a Black Widow plan fast  

Tim Drakes POV

Two days must have passed by now,

I observed the guard shift patterns carefully and when it is time for them to switch over I have a very brief window to escape, they have obviously been told to keep a close eye on me since they rarely left me alone only when they switched over.

I didn't know what had happened to Natasha, but I must find her I would fix this I just hope that my transmission got back to the Bat cave and that none of the assassins notices the unauthorised transmission.

The guards switch over in a few minutes as they walk out the room I calculate I have around 40 seconds before the next shift reaches the door.

I place a bunch of pillows under the bed covers just like I used to do when I lived with my dad and I used to sneak out to see if I could catch a sighting of the Batman,

The next two guards enter the room and they don't seem to concerned about what they think is me asleep under the covers, but I hide in the ceiling and as they both begin to relax I jump down and bash both of their heads together and they fall to the ground.

I grab the keys from one of them and I peek out the door to ensure that it was safe to exit.

I sneak into the abandoned hallway and I recall Ras saying something about a west side all the way on the other side of the base, however that was a long distance to cover unnoticed, but I notice that it is dark outside I can use that as cover and make my way round the outside of the perimeter.

I jump out of the window and on to the soft grass, but much to my dismay somebody is outside already,

I get ready to fight him

"Hey little Bird good to see you in one piece" it's Nightwing

"Boy am I sure glad to see you" I say as I wrap him in a hug,

I look behind him and I see Batman they have just taken out half a dozen guards

"Where is Natasha?" he asks me

"They took her to the other side of the building" I tell him he nods and we begin to head over to find her taking out all the assassin's we come across on the way.

Natasha's POV

I hear a lot of commotion going on outside the door I sense an opportunity to escape I take one of the pins out of my hair "They never check the hair" I smile to myself,

I was lucky that they had left me alone to consider joining the League I just hope that they haven't hurt Tim,

I will kill them if they have

I quickly feel the lock pop,

The two guards who were outside my room are now down the hallway fighting two men Nightwing and Batman

"Natasha!" Tim exclaims and nearly knocks me over in a giant sized hug

I grasp him tightly "Thank god you're ok" I tell him

"You and I are going to be having words when we get back about What Black Widow says goes" he squirms at my words.

Batman and Nightwing quickly finish off the remaining assassins when Batman throws me something to me, my stingers and my belt "Yours I believe" he says I smile at him I see I wasn't the only one with a plan I put my stingers on and twist to lock them in place.

Suddenly I sense that someone behind me and their holding a gun, it's Talia Al Ghul "Beloved please stand down" she says to Batman, well she did ask him nicely but I'm not in a nice mood confinement dose that to me, so I turn around and I kick the gun she is holding out of her hand

"Widow wait!" Batman says stopping me mid kick

"I don't like what's going on here Talia and I'm going to put a stop to it" her expression drops in to one of great sadness

"I would implore that you leave whilst you can beloved, but I do not have the will to fight against the man that I love" I knew Batman always found talking to her hard because he dose love her but he didn't trust her so we silently walk past her I'm the only one to look back as she watches us leave and

I could swear I could see tears in her eyes.
