An Unforgiving Anniversary Part 2

"Well I think we should start at the beginning of Gotham City you know the Wayne's were recorded as being one of the founding families of Gotham City with buildings like City hall and Wayne Manor and of course Arkham Asylum being amongst the oldest buildings still standing in Gotham City" Bruce explains to the boy as he pulls out a large book from the City Archives 

"Wow so the Wayne's have always been super powerful?" Tim asks Bruce as he places down the heavy book on the table 

"Uh, the Wayne family history is very complicated, I think that's a story for another time" Bruce catches my eyes as we both understood the complicated shadow that enveloped the Wayne family name but like he said it's a story for another day.

I leave Bruce and Tim in the Bat cave pondering over some text books I just hope that Tim's white lie about failing at school was enough to keep Bruce busy for the day.

I knew that giving Tim a better education meant a lot to Bruce since Tim didn't have a great start in life but it never mattered what start you've had in life if you have the strength and drive to do well in life you will, I was once an orphan a nobody now I'm one of the most formidable spies and ex-assassins in the world.

As I exit the cave through the secret entrance behind a grandfather clock I hear loud voices coming through the main lounge,

 I see Alfred and Dick watching the Television and on close inspection I realise that it's the 8 o'clock News I knew then that something was wrong my Widows instincts were tingling

"Look at this Natasha this isn't going to be our day" Dick says with a sigh and when I see the TV I knew what he meant,

It was Wayne Tower surrounded by an army of cops and the media, suddenly Jack Ryder appears on the screen

 "This is Jack Ryder reporting live this morning from Wayne corporate tower where high above the criminal known as the Ventriloquist is holding the employees of Wayne corporate hostage so far no demands have been made but stay tuned in to see how the situation pans out" and with that the channel flips to the ads we all look at each other blankly

"You seriously think that you can keep this a secret from him?" Dick asks me and I knew that this was going to be hard but I remain determined.

I head back downstairs where I see Bruce and Tim sitting at the table studying the history of Gotham Tim already looked bored out of his mind, well this was his great idea so he will have to suffer it through.

 Bruce looks up at me as he senses my presence approaching and smiles he was acting very strange today I still remembered that kiss on my hand from earlier,

I wonder what was up with him I intend to pull it out of him later but right now I've got a job to do

"Hey Natasha what's up?" he asks me, I think fast of an excuse to get him out of the Bat Cave without him getting too suspicious 

"I just wanted to do some training you know since things are looking quiet" I tell him Bruce always knew that I preferred to be alone when I was training he nods his head but I could tell something was bugging him something more than the anniversary of the death of his parents

"It's ok we can study better in the library" he begins to head up the stairs and as Tim gets up to follow I stop him before he can walk past me

"Something is up at Wayne Towers make sure you keep him busy and away from the Television and the phone and the computer" I whisper to him as soon as I'm sure Bruce is out of hearing range I knew that it was a big ask but I had faith in Timothy.

Tim replies with a thumbs up and a confident wink, good luck kid I think to myself.

Dick and myself begin to gear up but I could still sense Dick's scepticism to my plan it had begun to annoy me but I kept my opinions to myself 

"You really think Tim can keep Bruce busy all day?" he says for what feels like the twentieth time I wonder why he was being so negative about all of this

"Have a little faith Dick why are you being so cynical about this?" I ask since this wasn't like him he was usually the most positive out of all of us, Dick sighs in frustration 

"You seriously don't think I've tried this before, I tried it once before we met you Natasha" he confesses, I didn't know about that and I'm guessing from the expression on his face that it didn't turn out well but I'm positive this time it would be different

"This time you've got me" I tell him and a giant grin appears on his face now that is the Dick Grayson I know

"Ok Romanoff let's do this" he states with a bit more confidence, we put on our motorcycle helmets and mount our bikes we both quickly race out of the Bat Cave.

The Plan was to enter Wayne tower through the secret entrance that lead up to Bruce Wayne's office I knew he had an emergency protocol installed into the systems that run through the whole building in case anything like this ever happened I will hack into it and see where it gets us.

LOCATION: WAYNE TOWER

We enter the underground entrance and dismount the bikes Dick turns round to me as he removes his helmet his long hair covered his face

"Ready?" he asks as we head up to Wayne's office

"Born ready" I reply with a smirk.

The coast is clear in Wayne's office clearly the automatic lock down meant that they couldn't get in,

 I walk over to Bruce's computer it will only take a couple of seconds to get in I plug in my computer that was built into my stingers into to the entire mainframe 

I could see Nightwing nervously watching the door as loud crashing came from the other side, they were trying to break their way through into here but I work as fast as I can, 

Lucius Fox used mostly the same sequences on most of the computer security programs that he developed Bruce had talked me thorough them before so hacking my way through wasn't difficult but I was frustrated as I hit safety wall after safety wall tapping away as fact as my fingers will let me 

"Black Widow" Nightwing says nervously as the crashing gets louder, I was only partly confident that they couldn't get into to the main office but that was in no way a guarantee 

Suddenly the message 'Access Granted' appears on the computer screen, I now had access to Bruce's emergency protocol time to see what it does.

"Great what now?" Nightwing asks as our exit is cut off by more violent crashing sounds which sounded like an elephant charging at the door, I look up to the ceiling and quickly an idea begins to sketch into my head.

We crawl through the air vents in the ceiling we both knew the layout of this building like the back of our hands, we head to the main office area in the finances department.

 I can see eight Wayne Corp employees kneeling on the floor looking very scared they just need to hold it together for a little while longer, I begin to carefully unscrew the screws that held the vent panel in place as quietly as I can when I suddenly hear a familiar voice

"Alright I've had it up to here start squealing about how we get into Wayne's personal safe or you'll be eating lead" Scarface yells at the hostages.

Out of all of the bad guys I had faced with Batman the Ventriloquist had to be the most bazar of them all, Whesker has a split personality which resulted in the creation of Scarface in the form of a puppetwhich had a personality all of its own.

I get the emergency protocol up on my stingers computer

"Remember we rescue the hostages first and let me deal with Scarface and his men" I tell Dick he responds with a silent nod.

Suddenly the alarms begin to screech and the fire suppresser system goes haywire

"What's going on?" Rhino asks as me and Dick jump out of the ceiling Nightwing ushers the hostages towards the fire escape whilst I distract the mobsters 

"Kill the Dummies" Scarface orders his men I flip behind a desk to use it as a shield from the gun fire.
